I agree, that and viruses/malware is another reason to choose OSX/Linux over Windows. For anyone with these concerns, iOS is the clear winner vs Android. Now that I think about it, iOS has both the advantages of Windows (Apps), and the advantages of OSX/Linux (stability and no viruses/malware).

If these are your concerns, iOS really is the best of both worlds.

I wasn't talking about viruses/malware, but that is another good point since most viruses/malware are mostly written for Windows. Same thing goes towards Android.

That's just FUD. Malware is a significant problem for Google Play users. It is not a significant problem for iOS App Store users.

(And "a lot less iOS users"? Than Google Play users? I doubt it. Total devices sold is something like 365 million (iOS) to 380 million (Android) through the end of Q1 2012.)

While apple has tighter security no doubt, you are relying on apple. As dev Charlie Miller showed he could make an app (containing no malicious code but in essence have it) and slip it passed apples security. He obviously lost his dev license (or whatever it's referred too) it wasn't until it was brought to apples attention by him. He was proving a point he previously told them about.

Android does have malware (still considered an insignificant problem by many) if you simple LOOK at an apps permissions when downloading you can filter most if not all of it. Then there is always the option of anti malware apps made by serious security companies like norton and avg. I could bet it would be impossible for you to tell me an app currently on google play that's malware, if it was a serious problem it would be very simple.

I prefer not relying on someone else for my security is all aspects of my life including digitally.

That said the app store is in fact safer and I'm in no way arguing that fact. Just it's silly to let your guard down because you heard it was completely safe. Malware is software, no one is safe.

I have been a iphone user since day one and have been kinda tired of iOS since before the iphone 4 came out. Nothing on android was at all decent until finally the Gnex was released last December. I had that phone for 4 months and I will say it really was great. The OS is as smooth as iOS no doubt. The only reason i got rid of it and went back to the iphone 4s was because of the horrible camera on the Gnex. A couple of other minor things including battery life but i worked around that so it was not an issue at all. Oh also, one huge reason in addition to the camera was the fact that my truck stereo runs off the ipod interface(X930BT) But i think now i will just buy a separate ipod for the truck and be done with it.

With the S3 it looks like the camera issues are going to be solved since it pretty much has the same exact sensor as the 4s does. The zero shutter lag on the Gnex was just unreal, to bad the camera itself was crap. The s3 has this feature plus a ton more camera features that are "magical" The s3 has latest LTE chip built in so battery life should be better by a lot(close to razr maxx, if not batter)

UGH!! AT&T just officially announced it will ONLY carry the 16GB SGS3 model!! No 32GB.:mad::mad:

Man oh man, that's terrible. I don't want to switch carriers at this point because I was hoping to swap sim cards whenever I needed to between the SGS3 and the iPhone.

Does anyone know if there will be a third party sold unlocked model with 32GB and LTE sold in the USA? I want LTE so I don't want the international version.

Man I wish every friggin' phone manufacturer, be it iOS or Android, would just give me ONE SINGLE PHONE with 96GB - 128GB on board (including microSim), a 4.5"+ screen and LTE. I don't care about anything else. It seems like a simple request. Now I probably have to wait another 6 months to a year or so. Man oh man.

As I've said earlier in this thread, I want to be able to have at least 96GB on board at once (32GB internal and 64GB microSD). Note that I don't want to argue why I want that. :)

Ok, at least you came out and said it...otherwise we would be a arguing ;)

I would never get a crappy Samsung. Once you look at the Retina screen, you just can't go back to something as inferior as the S3.

Your kidding right? There are quite a few phones out already with better screens than the iphone 4/4s ...along with keeping your "retina" specs

I wouldn't call a 1280x720 @ 4.8" (305.96 PPI) exactly inferior since according to Apple humans can't distinguish individual pixels if the ppi is higher than 300

The SIII has the potential to be huge in the States. They will get some consumers who don't want to wait for the next iPhone this fall. But, you gotta be okay with the size. It's a really big phone. That will of course turn some people off.

I don't care that AT&T isn't getting the 32GB model. The 16GB onboard plus a 64GB microSD card is plenty for me.

I would never get a crappy one either, I like the good ones like my galaxy nexus, and the new GS3. They both have retena quality screens and better specs than the iphones. I recommend not buying anything crappy when good things are available from the same vendors.

Plus if you did get a crappy one, like all of the iphones with issues or ipads with issues you can just exchange it for a non issue non crappy one. Problem solved :apple:

Good to know. I'm a righty too. I could potentially refrain from needing to reach the upper left corner as long as I place no app icons in that area. As long as I can reach the top-middle without too much work (for the web toolbar) I should be just fine. I'll know in two weeks when the States gets the SIII.

It's great that Samsung got the American carriers to use the physical home button (and not the usual 4 capacitive buttons) and to settle on simply calling it the SIII across the board.

For the most part you can get away with not using the upper left corner...until you open the browser as that's where the refresh button sits!!

S3 screen is a "retina" screen. In addition, it is an OLED screen with superior contrast. SO, do not ever look at S3 screen. Once you look at it, you just can't go back to something as inferior as the iPhone.

Att only lists a sim card capability of 32gb. 64gb card may be possble, but we won't know until someone tries to put one in and see if it works. I have the S2, so I only have 32gb cards and smaller. I'm not hurting for space, so I can deal with a 16gb phone if I absoltely have to.

I have written to Samsung USA to see if buying an unlocked gsm S3 is possible and if so, is a 32gb variant available.

The international version supports a 64GB microSD card, so I'm sure the US version will as well. A 64GB card is confirmed to work with the Galaxy note so I'm sure it'll work with the S3.

Let us know what Samsung says about the unlocked GSM 32GB variant, hopefully with LTE. I would buy that phone.

From what I've read so far, the SIII has a cooler screen, a la the bluish tint on my iPhone 4. I'll be curious to see how it compares brightness-wise to my iP4.

Curious if you have or plan on adding an SD card. Also, how is it for one handed use? (And how big are your hands.) Do you find it hard for example to reach the top of the screen with your thumb (one handed) and ditto the home button.

I picked up a PNY class 10 32GB Micro SDHC card yesterday at Best Buy for $32.99 for when i get the GS3. I have a class 4 16GB now in my Vibrant and ill just transfer over everything from it to the faster, bigger one.

You are probably right. I'll need to use that left hand corner at some point. We shall see if I can reach it without too much effort. Who knows.

Oh wow, that sucks. Well, if it turns out that I couldn't use the 64 GB card, then I could maybe switch to Verizon and get the 32 GB model. (And use a 32 GB card.) Who knows at this point. First I'd have to figure out if I want the phone or not.

Um, yes. I as hoping to be able to get 128GB on the phone at once - 64 internal, 64GB microSD. But it looks like I have to settle for 96GB (32 int / 64 ext). I'd choose the Samsung Note because I know it supports a 64GB microSD card, but I can't find one that has both 32 GB internal as well as 4G LTE. So I guess I'll wait for the SGS3. :)

Tony

Dont think you can use a 64 GB card in those. Im not for sure but i thought i read that. If im wrong, let me know id be interested.

The post I was replying to said Android is better for audio, citing PowerAmp as the reason. Due to an Android limitation, Volume Normalization, a basic iOS feature, is not available in PowerAmp. Stating that is relevant to the conversation.

Poweramp was just one reason used. It is a good player but its just one of many you can use.

As for volume output...i find it hard to believe that teh iPhone has higher volume output. The iPhone has always been the WORST for volume output espsecially with teh ringer volume , and also music from the speakers. IP4S imo isnt much better than the older ones.

Also IF there is a volume output problem in the GS3, there is a code all Samsungs have built in that if you use it you can make your output levels higher for everything and you can set it for how high each increment will go to your liking. You do this through the dialer.

Now i dont know if the GS3 wil have the exact same codes as the Galaxy S but im sure ill find them if i need them.

I get the feeling you will refute everything having to do with being better than the iPhone so for those trying to show you...they are beating a dead horse. Im fine letting you be a Apple fan who wont budge. And thats great for you and those who like the phones. As always, i say use what you like!

You 100% can. People have done it. It is microSDXC. I'm sure the USA version will be the same. Heck, 128GB cards should work when they become available hopefully later this year. When that happens, all this discussion becomes a moot point. I'd settle for a 16GB phone then with a 128GB card. :)

Exactly. The size of the internal memory becomes unimportant if a 64, 96 or 128gb card can be used. I can't wait to get my hands on this phone!
