People need to remember that the iPhone 4 was slow from the start. It has a single core CPU. Single core CPUs will always be slow on modern operating systems because of massive context switch overhead, ESPECIALLY on systems that try to do many things at once, like iOS does (mainly behind the scenes). Some other process on the phone using the CPU will cause graphics updates to not be smooth, for instance.
The move from single to dual-core computing has been the biggest update for performance in the recent history of computing when it comes to system responsiveness. For example, changing from a 2GHz to a 4GHz single CPU will not provide as much increase in responsiveness as adding a second 2GHz CPU.
This is why it's unlikely the 4S will perform really badly on iOS 8 unless it's outright sabotage by Apple. The iPhone 4 was a special case due to its outdated architecture.
I think they disabled Shazam integration for Siri on the 4S... Or I don't know how to use it...
How about phone calls and SMS through Mac on iPhone 4S? Have they really disabled it?
Please answer only if you're running GM and you know for sure - I don't need anybody's guesses. Thanks.![]()
SMS Relay and Phone calls work. iPhone 4S iOS 8 GM.
Also there's defiantly a speed improvement from beta 5 to GM.
As always; full restore + set up as new iPhone = the best experience.
When I first installed iOS 8 on my 4s the performance was ok but through out the day it has degraded to the point of frustration.
I'd personally skip ios8...

I've also seen very noticeable bugs such as copy URL not working in safari and app windows missing in task manager.
IOS 8 seems a bit rough, despite being the GM
