Still says scheduled for delivery on 9/28 which is unlikely

Looking back over your tracking history, we've been on the same schedule since arriving Korea. I've surveyed others' US Customs times, imagined when "departed Louisville" might show up and concluded that it's just possible that my phone could reach me in time for Will Call tomorrow (near Sacramento, CA).

Not holding my breath, though.

Cheers...

im almost positive we will have an "out for delivery" scan in the AM.

So they will drive my phone all the way from Ontario to LAX for delivery and not first transfer to a closer facility?

----------

Yes, be happy that ur phone made it to ontario. Mine is still in Louisville, couldn't even tell my bro to look for it, lol

Don't lose hope, it could still be on the next AM flight out to LA area. You could still get it delivered on Fri

Wow, the plot thickens. Now no delivery date again instead, it says delivery address changed. I called apple on 9/25 to change the suite number of my delivery address, from suite 100 to suite 200, apparently they're using this as an excuse to delay the delivery. Even tho they had already noted it on the status of my delivery shortly before my phone arrived in louisville on 9/26...

What? You had all the time to change it online before they prepare it for shipment and you didn't do that? Sorry to hear that you might have to wait a bit longer now

Ya, I didn't realize it til it was already shipped. But again, ups received the suite change even before it reached louisville, it says so on the status. And now it has been brought up again. It even says that the apt number is missing, which is bs because it was there, I jst changed it. It's obvious they're jst using it as an excuse for screwing up the delivery.

Ha! Now it says scheduled to be delivered by the end of the day tomorrow, 9/28, not sure what to believe anymore.

The ONT and BUR AM flight took off already. What does your status say?

Finally a departure scan at 3:48am but all the flights to the Los Angeles area took off before that time so I'm hoping they still scan packages after they have been loaded on the plane :)

Actually, I jst checked again and they were all delayed and all after 3:48am so I hope my phone made one of those flights ;)

who knows

I could be part of the Delivers on October 5th group. That would be day 14 from my September 17th confirmed order.

7:35er

This should be the end of the line for me. It was great comparing experiences in this bizarre tracking situation. I don't know about you, but it has only been five days and it feels like I have been tracking this thing for five months. Good luck to the rest of you.

It seems to me that Apple packaged all the orders it received in their "second batch" -- baasically people who preordered on the 14th after the initial batch sold out -- then handed off the whole bunch to UPS. UPS couldn't fly them all out of China at once, so they flew them out in batches over several days. Which batch your phone ended up in is random and not correlated to when you placed your order, so it is exactly like a lottery. I'm not inclined to give Apple or UPS any flak over this -- it would have been a huge logistical nightmare to separate the phones by the hour their order was placed and fly them out in that order. Apple originally told us we would get our phones by 10/5, so even the people getting them on 10/1 are getting them 4 days early. The ones who got them already are just very, very lucky, and that's how life goes sometimes.

If that were true, we would have all gotten shipping notices from apple when they handed them off to UPS at the same time. There were multiple days difference in orders going to shipped status. The issue most people are having is that people who ordered early are either still waiting for apple to say their order has shipped and receive a tracking number or received that info several days *after* people who ordered late in the day. The second problem is that many orders went out on a different class of UPS service that had a two day shipping commitment, while those of us with earlier pre orders got shipped on a lower class of service. The third problem is that once things do get into the UPS system, they sit for days, tracking is spotty at best, and even the call center at UPS has no clue as to where half the packages are. The net result is many people who ordered early are still waiting, and many who ordered late have had their orders in their hands for almost a week now.

Moving the orders needed in the proper order is hardly a logisitical nightmare. It's called FIFO and is an established practice in fulfillment systems since the dawn of shipping... Doesn't necessarily need to be exact, but should be at least somewhat in the order received, not what we got which is clearly random.

So the flak is justified...
1) Apple for processing orders in a random fashion
2) UPS or Apple (they are pointing the finger at each other apparently) for shipping via two different classes of services
3) UPS for not pre-positiioning enough capacity for something they knew was going to put excessive load on their systems. They had two weeks to get ready for the second wave of pre-orders.

Well, I can't say I've read every single post in this thread, so it's possible I may have missed things. If it is the case that, for example, someone who placed an order on the 15th got their phone already while those of us who ordered on the 14th are still waiting for ours, then yes, I agree Apple messed up. But my impression was that people who ordered early on the 14th were complaining that those who ordered a few hours later were getting theirs earlier. And I thought it was a little unreasonable to expect Apple and UPS to keep the shipments organized down to the hour they were placed. I do apologize if I've misunderstood the situation.

As for UPS using two different kinds of shipping, I wasn't aware of that until you pointed it out just now. Did it really make a drastic difference in shipping time? I'm not even sure which kind of shipment my phone was (it's out for delivery now, thank god!)

That 2nd tracking number has shown up on pretty much anyone who has a UPS MyChoice login and actually belongs to a MacRumors forum member. He is aware that it have been published for pretty much the entire world to see. In fact, he invited us all over for a barbecue this weekend. Right Aimb?

Hey Arxcher, sorry just saw this, and yup I'm having a roast at my complex. Huge BBQ with a roasted pig dressed in a UPS uniform :)

----------

Haha!! I'm game! (:)

the more the merrier!! I'm still waiting for a UPS supervisor to call me back to answer as to WHY my tracking and information is visible to so many others. A bit scary to be honest.

Oh god. Now one of my packages has an exception.

Mine did that, and it sat in KY for 2 days bc of it. It's finally out for delivery today.

They claim there was an address issue, even though it was all correct. I think that's just there way of holding the packages back, because they are so backed up.

My Latest news.

Package has shipped and the delivery is being scheduled; check for updates later / delivery rescheduled - Mount Hope, ON, CA

I officially have no patience left.

So far I've had Delivers Sept 21st, then October 9th (Ordered Sept 14th early morning) It then disappeared, returned saying September 28th, then slipped to October 2nd, and now its disappeared.
