iPhone 5 Available to ship:2 weeks / Delivers Oct 5

I'm also pretty furious about this, my local AT&T store was holding one for me (friend that works there) and I was going at 8 AM EST to pick one up..then I see this, but no serial number attached to my support profile. This realllllly seems like a ploy to stop all preorder cancellation.

Then again, we might all get ours this week..maybe even, today!

No idea. I'm home now anyway. Hell with it and apple. In the last month I've convinced my dad to get a MacBook Pro and my uncle a MacBook Air. Neither of whom ever owned an apple product. Was buying a camera lens in best buy the other day and walked over and helped a woman that was looking at mbp's and she ended up walking out with one too.
I'm done with the whole thing. They will be on my porch sooner or later. I'll use it and enjoy it no doubt. But I'm done being a cheerleader for a company that pulls a chicken **** stunt like they did to a bunch of people who posted here tonight by switching them to prepared to keep them from canceling.
 
This sucks, ordered at 3:45 am est and It's been on processing ever since. Still shows a Oct 3rd delivery and no progress on any other front. Whats the point of pre-ordering so early, only to have people who placed orders 12 hours after me say they are preparing for shipment and some getting shipped already.
Screw you APPLE !

I gotta say I'm having similar dark thoughts. Now it could all be conjecture and we start seeing more movement but barring people seeing serial numbers and tracking in the next few days I'm starting to think we got suckered.

My order time was 3:07 AM central so I'm figuring I gotta be somewhat close to the front of the next wave. I ordered VZ 32gb black. I would suggest others that see changes post similar info to gauge against.
 
How is it Apple's fault that some of you didn't cancel your order when you had the chance? If I was going to stand in line then I would have cancelled my preorder well before that. Not sure how you can blame Apple for that one.
 
Dang it... My 32 gig white att went to preparing for shipment sometime overnight.. I wanted to go to att and see if I could get one this morning.

Someone please post if they were able to successfully cancel an order after "prepare for shipment"

My 16gig white att is still processing so I guess I could cancel my wfie's order and just get hers if available in store..

It's not blaming apple for that. I'm upset with the fact that if this is truly a ploy to hold onto preorders and not ACTUALLY preparing them to ship, that's ridiculous.
 
Amazing, how is it that some people that ordered later then me are getting their shipment verification already and most of us are still waiting.

It's not that. It's apple making it next to impossible for people to cancel preorders convientley mere hours before they would be able to walk into stores and buy the phones that should have been arriving on their door steps today in th first place.
I'm not "blaming" anyone. I chose to order it. I'm saying it was a ****** low brow move from a company that claims to take such pride in pleasing customers.

How many times has something been "prepared for shipment" for two weeks? How long does it take to prepare a 2lb rectangular cube for shipping? Everyone here knows what this was.
It isn't blame. It's calling a spade a spade.
 
Just waned to post an update for the Oct. 5th people. I ordered mine at 3:55 am ET and just got a shipped notification. Black 32gb. It shows it's in China and also shows an estimated delivery of 9-21. Not a very realistic delivery estimate but good news regardless.

Same here. I actually ordered like 4PM ET on 9/14. Well since I took a morning off to wait in line might as well skip the circuss and take my kid to the zoo.

Confirmation email didn't show delivery date, just order processing.
Status changed next day to delivery Oct. 5.

32 GB just changed to the 'Preparing for Shipment', but still Oct 5 delivery.
64 GB still processing and Oct 5 delivery date.

Update:

This morning, ststus on 32gb changed to shipped, showing 9/21 delivery date with tracking number. Tracking shows it n China, however.

The 64 GB shows preparing for shipment now.

So, Looks like I may end up with one today!
Am working from home just in case...

Just got an email from apple that the phone estimated delivery is 9/27. I am on the East Coast.
 
I just received tracking info.

Does anyone know when this flight arrives in the USA or the flight #? I'm on long island 25 miles from JFK International Airport. I suspect its going there.

Those of us who ordered early on the 14th who've had Oct 5th dates from the beginning have always been pretty confident that Oct 5th was a "worst-case" date from Apple and that we could be getting them next week instead. They clearly haven't updated any estimates since its been a full week now and it still shows "Ships in 2 weeks" which is obviously wrong now. I know it's probably frustrating that you were going to cancel and try to get a phone today, but I wouldn't be so quick to believe that they're just pushing orders to "preparing for shipment" so that they can't be cancelled. I think they're probably actually being prepared for shipment, especially since we've now heard from some one who got a shipment notification this morning.
 
Looks like next batch of phones are starting to be delivered. I ordered around the same time as others 5:40am but still processing.
 
called apple to ask about the ship dates etc, got hung up on three times when asking why some people who ordered 12 hours after me are already seeing their phones starting to ship.

I know right? Mine is literally stuck on "processing" and people who ordered hours after are getting their shipped.
 
Update ... One of mine changed to shipped! With delivery today. But tracking says last scan was china lol should be interesting ;) other one changed to preparing

Is the tracking from a shipping carrier? Also when did you order?
