I think it's safe to say you overreacted. Calm down. You go from being an apple cheerleader to a jilted lover over what you feel was a conspiracy to stop you from going to the store to pick one up. Check your email, yours is probably shipping from China just like mine. And mine is arriving the 27th. So maybe be patient next time? Now if you still don't like the "stunt" of your phone arriving next week, maybe you can cancel so someone else can get theirs sooner. Or just refuse the shipment.

Ordered a 64 GB AT&T black model at 6:00 am Central Time, still stuck at processing with Oct. 5th delivery. Card hasn't been charged yet, either.
2 of my iPhones that were scheduled for Oct 5 delivery have both shipped.

Too funny. Ordered 32Gb black AT&T at 12:50am PST, originally missed the dang cutoff by just a few minutes (which seems to have been around 12:45am). Delivery status was prepping and set to ship by Oct 5th this entire time including when I went to bed last night. Figured I'd get up this morning to go get in line, and right before I walk out the door I remembered to check my order and it switched to Shipped at 3:50am!!
Sigh ... guess I don't get a day one iPhone but at least I don't have to go wait in line now. (Which might not have gotten me one anyway...)
It's already in UPS's tracking system. Origin Scan in ZhengZhou, China. Doesn't have an arrival date yet.

IT HAS JUST HAPPENED .... Ordered 4:10AM est ship in 2 weeks ... Deliver 10/5 .... Credit card charged last night .... prepare to ship early this morning .... JUST GOT EMAIL ... SHIPPED due to deliver 9/27 !!!!! although the other iPhone I order due to deliver has not changed from the 10/2 deliver ....

Hang in there guys... Since this has started i bet everyone who ordered in the first 3 or 4 hours will change to shipped this weekend.... I bet a lot of people canceled to try to get it today and that eased inventory some.... It will be interesting to see manufacture week when I get mine

REALLY irritated that people that ordered AFTER me are getting there's shipped before me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's the phone i ordered for hubby and i already felt bad i was getting mine today and he wasn't... but to see this just aggrevates me even further..... what ever happened to the concept of FIRST COME (ORDERED) FIRST SERVED (SHIPPED)?????????????
I have been changed to Preparing for Shipment but I still have Oct 5 delivery date - so basically this means I can no longer cancel the order. I had a feeling this was going to happen and I was toying with cancelling last night so I could try my luck at getting a phone this weekend. Oh well.

Mine has been shipped after originally saying Oct 5th. I woke up this morning and UPS said delivery of 9/21 but Apple says 9/27.
9/27 isn't correct. They were shipped UPS Worldwide Express which is 1-3 business days. Regardless, I'm just happy I'm not wasting time by standing in line.

For those that just went to preparing for shipment last night, you think we'd probably get our phones by mid/end of next week? I can't see an Oct 5th date being true unless "preparing for shipment" sticks for as long as our processing stage....
My two preorders were placed at 0113PDT and 0128PDT and both showed Oct 5th and my card was held for $1 each. The card was charged for the full amount about 6 hours ago. No change in status on Apple.com. It will get here when it gets here and a month from now nobody will care.
My iPhones that had Oct 5 delivery date have now shipped! Yay.
