Nice going. I actually called in today to various ATT stores with weeks of waiting time. :mad: I hope it comes sooner than the 5th.

i get the feeling it will be sooner than the 5th. it's hard for me to believe that they are going to ship a bunch out for the 21st...then WAIT to ship out the next batch for 10/5.

It seems there are some people who were in that first hour, who then got technical errors and got a 10/5 date listed --- and those people may be bumped up to 9/21.

I was about 4:30 eastern time ordering.... and my only pending charge is the $1 hold.

I'm pending and I have/had an email that says 21st delivery for one of my phones.... it got changed to the 5th.... and ya... it's just a phone but I'm still royally PISSED!
 
I ordered a black 32GB AT&T iphone 5 @ 2:52 CST showing 9/21 delivery..later that morning it showed 10/5 delivery. I checked it tonight, and its now back to 9/21 delivery.

I think the same will happen for a lot of people who ordered around that time and found that their delivery dates were pushed back to 10/5.
 
With retail sales forecasted to sell-out by Sunday, Sept 23, I might just check if there are some available Friday afternoon through the weekend. And, cancel the pre-order simultaneously.

Just to clarify, did it change from 10/5 (Processing items stage) to 9/21 (Preparing for shipment stage)? So it switched after it shipped?

ordered 9/14, 5:00 EST. White, 32 gb. Deliver date 10/5. I have not seen any type of charge on my card.

I have thought about doing the same as some have said here. Go to AT&T and see what they had. But how easy/quick can one cancel their Apple order so they can get the discounted price?

I believe Apple/ATT can simply look up your order and cancel it--then get the in-store unit if available.

Albeit, I will gladly wait until Oct. 5 if camping out Friday morning is the only other option.

It still says processing..only thing that has changed is the delivery date..went from 10/5 to delivers 9/21

Yeah, I'm going to decide that night what I want to do. I doubt I'll see much movement on my ship date before then. If I do go, the Apple stores will be sold out early. If I don't go, I'll hear stories of people walking in and buying one.
 
i probably shouldnt have cancelled my order last night...im too impatient..lol
 
Does anyone know if the Apple store can do a cross-upgrade (use an upgrade on a second line, but use my phone)?

I know the ATT stores can, but I'm not sure about the Apple stores. Worse case, I can upgrade my GFs line and use my phone. There's no way in hell I'm going to drag her down to the Apple store for this just to swap SIMs and she'll need to be at work anyway.
 
Ordered at 6:05am (Eastern Time), says Delivers 5th Oct, my card hasn't been charged yet.

So the pending charge for the full amount was removed from my card today morning. No hope of the ship date being moved any more or of it being shipped any time this week. Earliest I think we could see ship dates of 9/24.

At this point I'm going to try going to the store Friday and cancelling my preorder once I have the phone in hand. Worst case, I'll pay the full price, return it once the preorder clears, and rebuy the same phone for the lower price.
 
I got my order confirmation around 4:48 AM for a 16 GB Black/State from Apple.com. $199 because its time for my upgrade.

October 5 Delivery.


I work a block away from an ATT store, Im going down there during lunch to se if its possible to walk in 9/21 and get a 16GB and then just have them cancel my apple order right then so I wont have to pay full price.

Think its possible?

Worth an ask I guess.


And could we please keep this thread going? Keep updating us on status guys? I'd really appreciate it. Someone else started a thread for the 10/5ers but it got lost.

I'm not sure if they can cancel the order on Apple's side. But, using the App, you might be able to.

Ordered 32g black on 9/14 at 4:07 EST - delivery Oct 5. I will be away the 22nd to the 26th and don't know whether to hope for early delivery or that it sticks with the Oct. 5, but I would love to get it before I leave on Friday!
 
Seems like October is most likely. It would be nice if Apple was more specific with what the situation was.

They should have stopped pre-orders after their release day stock was gone.
