My delivery date just got changed from Oct. 2nd to Oct. 5th and status changed from Processing to Preparing for Shipment, so I can't cancel now even if I could find one in a store. Bummer.

I'm thinking next release (probably iPad mini), I'm going to skip the pre-ordering and just go wait in line at the store. They had plenty of availability at my local Apple Store yesterday.

Same situation. My October 5th order went to preparing for shipment and I was planning on trying to find one with that extra time. Now I'm getting stuck with a black one even though I'm not sure what color I want now.

Just got two tracking numbers. One in Zhengzhou china. There is another that's processed and ready for ups. But I'm not sure what that is.

As I only ordered one phone and my lightning to 30 pin adapter says still processing and haven't been prepared for shipment yet.

After sitting in China for more than a full day, mine has arrived in Hong Kong. Hopefully things speed up so I can get it early next week!

Only one of my phones has shipped as of today still
White AT&T 32gb shipped yesterday
Black AT&T 64gb still "preparing for shipment"

There were ordered around 4AM EST on the 14th

I swear posting on this forum leads to things getting done... While I'm still preparing to ship for the last 37 hours now I've at least found UPS has a shipment for me & it's in China... So no official shipment notice but I did find my account has been charged and there is a package assigned to me in ZhengZhou, China or whatever it is

I agree. I have never thought of searching UPS by "reference" Apparently my black 64gb is also sitting in ZhengZhou while the white 32gb is at Hong Kong. Oddly enough, I still haven't received a shipment email on the black phone however.

I ordered mine on 9/14 at 5:30 am est. White 16bg AT&T, mine has been processing since last Friday and not movement at all. Still shows 10/5 delivery date. CC not showing anything either.

My credit card was just charged and now showing preparing to ship.

Finally shipped!!!

After attempting to track my package by reference the past few days through UPS, my phone is finally on its way. Just checked a few minutes ago and it looks like my phone is in ZhengZhou, China! Weird because I have still yet to be charged for my phone... UPS has yet to give me an ETA, hopefully it will be here mid next week, but that is pushing it!

Goodluck to everyone else!

My iPhone has the same dates/times as yours. I can't find any flights scheduled, but from what I gather the next stop should be HK?

Possibly. It is Sunday there in China now, and I dont think UPS ships anything on Sundays, so that is probably why. But HK is probably the next stop!

When you try to find tracking on UPS, what do you put under shipper account?

leave it blank. and for me, I had to use my billing phone number, not the shipping telephone number apple asked for. might not be different for you.

finally a status change

i ordered from apple.com @ 5 am EST
white 16 GB

finally got a status change to preparing to ship @ 12:30pm EST

was tempted to go to apple store, as they had plenty last night, at 8:15 pm

but the chore of canceling and then waiting for upgrade refresh, plus i had apple care already charged...

next time, wont preorder

Even though it says "Standard Shipping", I would not be surprised if the actual delivery is as quick as if one had chosen "Expedited Shipping". I've seen a number of cases where "Standard Shipping" arrives as fast as "Expedited Shipping" from China, at least for FedEx shipments.

if the email they sent with a delivery date of sep 28 is any indication... this is not arriving any faster than the mode the sent it in.... which is 5 days...

had they sent it faster, the phones may have been here as early as tues or wed....

i know fedex sometimes gets packages to their destination sooner... i've not seen that be the case with ups....

Actually, you didn't pay for anything last week. You don't pay for a preorder until its prepared to ship. I understand the frustration. I'm waiting too. But, you did have an entire week to cancel your preorder and the choice to stand in a line instead. If you didn't choose to do that, then the onus is on you, not apple.

Yay for sensibility!!!

I was out of town, had to order using my iPhone. First order processed at 12:56, second at 1:03.

"Preparing to ship, October 5 delivery."

Still waiting to move from "Preparing for Shipment" to "Shipped."
It's been about 19 hours.

Let's see if the whole theory of posting on here, and suddenly having a status change works! :p

Here's mine that sent yesterday. Didn't realize all the typos---geeze.

I'm writing to say a couple things. First, I'm a huge fan of all your products and what I see as your company philosophy. In the last 30 days I have convinced 3 people to switch to to MacBook pros or MacBook Air. One was a complete stranger in best buy while was buying a camera lens.

Anyway, the second thing I wanted to say is how utterly swindled I (and many others from Mac forums) feel after waking up in the middle if the night to per order new phones. I missed the original date by minutes, no big deal. It happens. But then people ordering 10 and 12 hours after me were getting shipped. That's aggravating but different locales and carriers, I can see it happening I suppose.

So I get off work today and go get in line at AT&T and was near the front so I pull out my iPhone to get my order pulled up to be ready to cancel my back order and buy in the store. But rather conveniently my order had just been marked prepared for shipping so no option to cancel. Of course it still says it isn't available to ship for two weeks from last Friday. Looking at forums this morning apparently this was done to hundreds probably thousands of people. This appears to me and others as a way to stop people from canceling back ordered phones to buy store stock. Stock that should be arriving on folks doorsteps today rather than store shelves anyway.

People who pre ordered phones offered to pay sight unseen, we weren't waiting to read reviews or play with a store demo. We trust what you build. I know the tech news blogs don't post pictures of the people getting up in the middle of the night trying to get through like they do of the long lines and big crowds. Or pictures of the people meeting their ups driver at the door aren't as newsworthy as photos of triumphant customers walking out with their trophy gadgets.

We have a house full of apple products and that won't change as long as you keep innovating as you do. My new phones will show up when they show up. I'll use it and enjoy it. What I won't do anymore is take time out if my day to walk up to total strangers in best buy to tell them why I love my MacBook Pro and why they might also. Or drag my computer to my dads office to show people what they are missing.

You did wrong by people who offered to pay early for phones. You traded loyalty and real human to human marketing for photo ops at retailers in the news today.

Yeah we did. The actual date they charge our card isn't relevant here. We gave our cc numbers. We did this thinking it was the fastest way to get our phones. Nobody here I don't think, seriously thought it would be so simple to walk into a store and just buy one off the shelf after the whining that apple was doing over the amount of preorders.
They sold the same batch of phones twice. Period. Sold them to us, delayed shipping so they could put them on store shelves and sell them again.
Keep defending it if you want, people have every right to be upset with this situation. If apple wants people to stand in line at launch day to get products that's fine, but don't take people's money for those same products in a preorder and then sell them at retail stores.

Well Said!

Exactly. How the defenders can't see this is beyond me. If I knew I could just walk into an apple store after work yesterday I'd have just don't that in the beginning.
