I dont think that are "problem" is as big of a problem as theirs. Actually I am positive of that.

All problems are relative. There are no absolutes. The problems of people in America are just as valid for them as the problems of people elsewhere.

Just cancelled my Apple order an preordered through Radio Shack. They were out of certain colors for certain carriers but they still had my Black ATT 16. They said they would call. *crosses fingers*

I preordered ATT Black 16GB within like 3 hours of launch and show Oct 5 like most people. I am going to go to the Apple store early Friday and if I can get one in person, will cancel my preorder. What's the point of preordering when it doesn't guarantee you anything. Not the end of the world, I have gone through this for each version.

To all those who read this post,

Please understand that this is only a phone, a popular of course, but a phone that you will have as soon as the company is able to mass produce them. The worst you want happening is for Apple Inc. send you a rushed production of a phone that is defective. It has happened that devices are simply defective by default because they mass produce them.

I believe a smarter approach for Apple to do is hold off the launch of the device until at least three weeks to one month or produce enough to offer to valued customers. Apple Inc. doesn't get it. They are a favored company that just closed at over $700 a single share! They're going up and up in directions only Steve Jobs can only be grinning like the Grinch only can. They need to consider the quality over quantity in customer service. If you promise a product launch on a given day, is it worth it to underperform with the production that they have? Please understand that the company has only mass produced at best 4 million total iPhone 5 devices. Of the 4 million, 2 million, the number they sold, they can actually sell to the general public. You're asking yourself, what about the other 2 million? The answer is at your local Apple Retail Store. Each and every Apple product is backed by a limited warranty that if your device is defective, you are entitled to a new device. It may be with a $49 service fee, but it's better than being told, "Due to the demand, we cannot offer you a new device until a new shipment comes in one month. In the meantime, we can offer you a replacement iPhone 4S until your iPhone 5 comes in."

Apple Inc. dropped the ball when they stated pre-orders to occur for 3am only to sell out in 30 minutes. It took the company three days to sell the supply they did in 30 minutes. It's hard to believe Apple would only produce the same number of iPhones they did at the launch of the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 is a larger product than Apple has ever dealt with. In July 2012, Apple sold less iPhones than in any quarter since the quarter that followed the introduction of the iPhone 4. At least 30-40 million people were holding off to get the new iPhone. Apple should have used this as a sign to either mass produce enough iPhone to please all or hold off for a late October launch.

Tomorrow, iOS 6 will launch at 1pm EST or 10 PST. If it isn't at 1pm, it will be within the 1pm-3pm period.

I would advise to do two things:

1) HOLD OFF TO DOWNLOAD iOS 6! The Apple central servers will be collapsed with the demand of people wanting to upgrade to the new software. If you risk to download as soon as it comes out, you will lose your iPhone period. The iPhone reboots at least 2-3 times to finalize the upgrade. My suggestion: upgrade the next day. Let Apple regain its servers to get the upgrade to you as soon as you are able.

2) Use the short period of time with your old iPhone with iOS 6 before getting your iPhone. Look at not getting your iPhone on launch day as a positive. iOS 6 is a massive and excellent update to the world's best mobile software bar none. If you play along with it for a while, when you get your new iPhone, you'll learn a few things in iOS 6 only for the iPhone 5 and you'll be all set.

Apple has done wrong and I hope they change the customer service in the future. Any thoughts?

This is the first iPhone that I have not gotten my preorder on or before the launch date. I will be at the AT&T store Friday to see if they have any available.

For orders placed now, is the ship date still Oct. 5th?

yeah wtf? alot of people are getting bumped to earlier release dates, so maybe they are shipping as more are being produced rather than waiting until the 5th... or october.

I'm hoping this means that mine, which still says processing and is to be expected 10/10-10/16, comes in earlier.

Yup, I'm still at processing items as well.

Ordered at 1PM Est on the 14th
Oct 5th delivery date
No pending charges/charges to my account at all yet.

I'm sorry if this question has been answered in another place, but this is my first post ever so be nice :)

Not wanting to take off work to tackle the schnanigans that would be trying to buy the iPhone 5 the day it comes out, I ordered through the Apple Store around 7:15am EST (Black 32gb ATT) and was given the 2 week notice.

As of now, I am scheduled for delivery on Oct 5, which would be fine, except I'm feeling impatient and I want it on Friday. That makes me totally unique, right???

I see a lot of people saying that they are going to test their luck at the store. On the off chance I pass an ATT store with no line, and they have the model I want available (wishful thinking), what should I do? Can they cancel the order for me? Do I need to go to an Apple Store? What's the process?

Thanks for the advice!

I spoke to someone at ATT and they can't cancel for you if you order through apple. If you have an iPhone, you can cancel yourself through the Apple Store app right there at the counter and then buy your phone from ATT.

I heard this from other forum. Did anyone call apple rep?
I hope it is real !!! (finger crossed)

"Being new to this whole preorder thing, I decided to call to check in to see if there was anything I can do. I asked them about the delivery date and the representative told me that all orders made today(Sep 14th) will be delivered by September 21, 22 or 24 (Friday, Saturday and Monday respectively).

I know it's hard to believe representatives but perhaps this is the hope for us who have that October shipping date. Pardon my noobiness but are Apple reps knowledgable or are they like other reps who know nothing? "

Haven't heard this rumor yet. But until there is a strong confirmation that is all I would consider it. Really hope it is true. Got my confirmation at 4:06a. Would have got it during the cutoff if I hadn't been trying to change my shipping on Apple/MyATT for 45 mins. Little did I know it could be done after placing the order.......

I don't understand.. you guys woke up in the middle of the night to order the phone... you couldn't have set the alarm for one hour earlier? You would have been getting your iphone in a couple of days instead of a couple of weeks.

Can't say for others but for me I was up and on at 3:10 EST and couldn't get my order to completely go through either online or the Apple app store until nearly 3:45 in which it still said a 9/21 release date... that is until the magical confirmation email came in saying 2 weeks and a 10/2 delivery date.

So, I go to ATT, they have it, I go on my iPhone, cancel the preorder, and then buy from ATT? My account will still appear as if I am eligible for an upgrade? I'm just worried about it that part getting screwed up.

Looking at all the people's responses I think we can all draw a conclusion that Apple is shipping the second wave of iPhone by Oct 2-5 for the customers who ordered after 1AM PST/4AM EST

It again seems odd that Apple will not be sending any iPhones out in September at all (maybe for the Apple Stores? I don't know)
Now that the iPhones won't have any restrictions of the preorder delivery date, most should ship and arrive in 2-3 days.
Also, the delivers ---- message is just a general calculation. Notice that Available to ship: 2 weeks message is getting more and more inaccurate by the day as it doesn't get updated.

I think we should expect it not to arrive by 9/21, but September delivery should still be possible as Apple sorts out their initial preordered customers with 9/21 delivery date.

Did anyone else cancel and pre order from radio shack? If so what model and carrier. Also what is the ship date on your customer agreement? Specifically looking for Verizon white 32gb but all answers welcome.

I didn't set an alarm. I just happened to wake up as I do several times during the night and notice the time. It happened to be 4am EDT and I remembered the preorder thing. I actually didn't plan on ordering till a proper morning hour figuring that there would be no problem ordering at any point during the 1st day, as in previous releases. Because I happened to be up I went ahead and used the app, which was the most expedient method I could think of.The app didn't tell me anything about a 2 week slippage of the ship date. That info only came later in the email. I could never have imagined that even 4am wasn't early enough. If I knew what I know now I would have set the alarm so as to be up at 3am.

What makes no sense is why there would be waves spaced weeks apart to begin with. There should be a continuous flow of phones from the factory to the various shipping companies as they are produced.

I've seen no change in accuracy. The date I see on the order status page at the Apple store hasn't changed at all since I got my order confirmation email on the 14th.

I have a delivery date of Oct 2nd. I purchased the phone at 4:05 EST. Course my card has not been charged at this point. I considering waiting in line on opening day but I didn[t that last time (iphone 4) and waited in line 6-7 hours. It was kind of fun but still a long day.
