Attached are my before and after statistics on my iPhone 5 (manufactured 01/2013) battery replacement. My day started at around 6:30am today and at 3pm, I still have 34% left. Yesterday, it lasted from 9am-9pm before it shut off. It feels like my battery life is much better now.

Good or bad?

You should have posted this a few weeks ago. I had the exact same issue with my battery on my 5. Bought last October. My buddy had a 5 that had poor battery life and took it to an Apple Store. They plugged it in and determined that battery was shot. They swapped his phone on the spot.

I took mine in hoping for a swap a few days before the warranty expired. The apple genius didn't plug it in, but ran a diagnostic over the internet and had the results show up on his iPad. He said the battery "failed" and I could wait 20 minutes for a tech to replace the battery.

It was a night and day difference. I had been getting 5 hours use time on the old battery. The new one gets me 7+ hours use time.

The battery swap was covered under warranty for me. The invoice was for $79, but I paid nothing.

For the record, I took my wife's iphone in the next week, and her battery showed up fine. It had fewer than 100 cycles and about 90% capacity. At least that's what I estimate from the genius' chart on the iPad.

Maybe your still under warranty and can get a swap.

Did you buy your iPhone from, carrier or the Apple store? How long was the warrenty? Did you have AppleCare?

----------

Had my 5s since October 31st, now on 184 cycles and 1512 capacity. Not bad at all.

How is your capacity larger than the battery is designed for?

Isn't' the full potential battery capacity of 5S something like 1550?

this is how stupid my battery acts all day, every day. after 2.5hrs of usage, I look at my phone and it will show 75%, 1 minute later it's at 60%, a couple seconds later it's 35%. sleep the phone for about 30mins to get some work done, wake up the phone and now I see it at 9%. plug it in and unplug it right away, jumps to 35%. what gives? i'm set for a replacement of my sleep/wake button and would hope for a replacement. we'll see.

I bought it at an AT&T Store, but in the US it doesn't matter. You get the warranty regardless of where you buy it.

The standard US warranty is 1 year. I didn't buy Applecare, but I did use my Amex Card, which covers the second year for free.

Please can someone help me interpret the following battery diagnostics for an iPhone 5?

CycleCount: 519
DesignCapacity: 1430
FullChargeCapacity: 984
Status: Success
BatteryCurrentCapacity: 20
BatteryIsCharging: true
ExternalChargeCapable: true
ExternalConnected: true
FullyCharged: false
GasGaugeCapability: true

Here's mines got my iPhone 5 on launch day

Battery
Cycle count: 283
Design Capacity: 1430
Full Charge Capacity: 1079

is that normal?

New battery

I bought a new battery replacement kit on amazon but don't want to use it unless I absolutely have to. My phone dies sometimes between 20-30%. It will shut down and not run again until it's been plugged in. Other times it will go until just below 10% before it dies. Here are my stats. Ideas? Thoughts? Thanks!

Went in with today with my launch iPhone 5 with battery bulging. Genius said will replace under warranty as it's a safety issue.

Old phone had degraded to full charge capacity of less than 600 with 534 cycles.

I thought mine was bad at 700mAH. But how much usage are you getting before recharging?

Here is mine again after these many charge cycles.. I think it has gone bad..because apple says it should be about 80% after 500 charge cycles..but looks like mine won't make it..

My iPhone 5 is 1½ year old, the battery has been really weird lately. It lose 20% during the night in flight mode. It can jump from 62% down to 41% in 20 minutes. Yesterday it went from 32% to empty in a few seconds.

The battery info below is from yesterday:

And the info below is from today:

Can you explain why the full charge capacity can be so different? Time to replace the battery right?

Guy there is one application which u can use to check the capacity and "life" of ur battery, works as good as the ibackboot application for mac (if the name of the application is wrong, then apologize me, because i don t really remember it's name anymore) and u can see how many cycles ur battery did until now and etc!
The battery of my Iphone 5 after a half year seems to still be in a good shape, it s just that it is not anymore that linear.. For example i can have 1370 of battery capacity, but if i lose then 1% of battery it can jump from 1370 to 1348 for example. Reall behving strange
Or for example if i have 69%, the following 10% of battery which i use will last me for one hour, but the next 10% only for 30 minutes. Did sby experienced the same? Maybe i am having a little battery issue I don t know...
