I did this with my 4S and I had no problems with the case coming in contact with the screen protector. I assume it'll be the same with the new case.

I haven't been able to use it yet, but my iPhone 5 comes Friday! It comes with a cleaning cloth and a stylus which I did not expect. I guess it's a "two-piece" case, the glossy black edge around the case is removable. All in all, it's a great case at a great price.

i ordered the white anker case.... looks like it will be delivered today.

Yeah, I think drop protection is sorta out of the scope of many small/thin cases. I am interested to see how easy it will be to press/side the buttons on the phone. The case looks awfully tight near buttons.
 
I went with an Incipio Feather Shine (Obsidian) - Ended up finding it for pre-order (with Sept 20th date) on Newegg. I noticed they've been sold out of this and the black feather on Incipio's homepage for a few days now and the Shine isn't even showing up on the page at all today. If I can track down this or the normal Black at a B&M like Frys earlier, I might have to cancel.

I ordered the Feather Shine as well but it’s not supposed to ship until the 21st. I ordered the Case Crown Lux snap on in black to use until the incipio comes in. It feels just like the black incipio feather case I used on my black iPhone 4 and I ordered Monday and it came in today. Its a nice little case but I probably wont use it for long. If you like the matte black incipio feather you will like the case crown for sure. I can post a pic if anybody wants to see it. The black is a little lighter than on their website but that is because it’s matte and not glossy.

Cool - if you don't mind the wait, I also found the feather (matte and shine) on Macmall for $15. They said the matte will be in stock by the 23rd and the shine will be a week or 2 after.
 
I got my Monoprice black bumper today in the mail...it def is thinner and longer than the original apple bumper and the quality seems really good. For $10 it was def worth it to have for launch day

I'm a huge bumper style fan and now prob gonna be even bigger with that dark aluminum back :D

Only downside I see is the rubber buttons not having the best tactile feedback

The monoprice logo is very small and hard to see in person, which I like

That's a good deal. I already ordered mine last friday so it's too late for me.
 
remember back at the iphone 4 launch when crappy cheap $1 silicone cases were everywhere? anyone know of any of those for the 5? (completely serious, i just want a temporary case)

^^^^ DO NOT USE HARD SHELL CASES ^^^^^ Soft and Rubbery is ALWAYS the way to go. Make sure you clean them out every now and then otherwise dirt, and debris can get between the case and the device and can basically create a sandpaper effect that destroys the device. I have been in this industry for a LONG time. Any questions about any products I can field them... just not about Ghost Armor unfortunately due to MacRumors rules and regulations. :cool:

Thanks for the tip, learned that from experience with the iPhone 4 bumper, the hard part scratched my metal band big time. I am interested in a case that doesn't have any hard plastic at all. Is the NUDE one of them?

"Made from Super Strong polycarbonate material"

this is what the Nude Case is stating it is made of.

Polycarbonate is not a soft Jelly case it will be a bit more rigid than the ones I believe you are looking for but from my experience I don't believe it will damage your device so long as you clean it out every so often. Id say its a good buy for 19.99
