I've always had a black one, since the iPhone 3G in 2008, but went with white last year for the iPhone 4S only because there was no redesign and I wanted to have something that looked new and different. While I do like my white iPhone 4S, I have to say that the darker antenna on the new iPhone 5 looks great with the black model. It just seems more sleek.

Only problem I see for an uncased black model is, when any colored anodized aluminum gets scratched, it reveals the raw silver aluminum. I'm betting the white model will hold its nice appearance way longer. Though I do like a black bezel around the display vs white. I always case my phones since I have very dry hands, making an uncased phone is too slippery.

love the black. its so sexy! white iphones or any white igadgets just don't appeal to me.

and black borders make the display look crispier.

I think this is one of the main reasons for going with a black model. It is a factor a lot of people I know do not think about. My mom got a white model because she liked how it looked, but never was as immerssed in any of her content because the border was always visible. Of course with the closer to 16:9 aspect ration it may not be as bad as on previous models.

Looks nice, i really like the black one.

If this came out last year instead of the 4S then I would be happy, but it's still not a radical redesign as I believed it would be. Like the 3GS to 4.

Why do you need a radical redesign? Other than boredom perhaps?

Still no landscape of the home screen in iOS6?!

And I would have liked that silver aluminum one, but I guess black will have to do...

I was actually expecting to hate the design until I saw the black one. I don't remember seeing a case leak for that one. The leak was was of the silver one which is why I think so many people disliked it. The all black is seriously hot IMO.

Every version I've preferred the black one...except this one. I think the White one is the superior looking one this time around. Reasoning...I think the silver back and sides will show less scratches therefore you can go case-less or even just a small bumper around it.

Same with me, this is the first time I've preferred the White over the Black. I prefer the silver as opposed to the slate sides.

This is the first iPhone that I won't be getting, there is just no killer feature here...

I am actually considering making the jump to the Nokia Lumia 920, however leaving the Apple Ecosystem would be hard.

Ding ding...which is why the white is superior...if that anodized aluminum gets scratched then it wont show like it will on the black.

Spotted in the video...

Question?

In the video he goes into settings, about the phone and there seems to be a section labeled ADVERTISING..

What is that and when did it appear? Is it iOS6 specific or iPhone 5 specific...

Anadizong should stain the aluminum. Not just the front but all the way through. I don't think anodized scratches show the bare aluminum??.??

Anodized aluminum will not be all the way thru. Its similar to chrome plating but a lot more durable... meaning it can't flake off but its not all the way thru.

I don't like the headphone jack at the bottom. When I'm not at home, my phone is in my pocket 99% of the time. Which means while I'm walking around town listening to music, it'll be upside down. Like many, I like to pull it slightly out to check the time. Not exactly the end of the world or anything and I'll likely be getting one when my current contract is up in April, but it's just a preference. Who knows, maybe I'll find the new way better.

Pretty sure you could just put the phone in your pocket upside down. ;)

Correct, I have managed to scratch anodised components, and it doesn't look good. If I had the money to upgrade, I'd go for the white model for this reason.

The white glass panel also conceals scratches a lot better.

Anodizing is a surface treatment, which may or may not be harder than the bulk material under it.

Scratch through it, and you're down to the bare metal. (Well, with aluminum, down to bare metal with a thin transparent oxide layer keeping it from bursting into flames in your hands.)

Don't know what that techcrunch guy is talking about, but my personal experience is that the aluminum they use on the macbook pro's are really prone to dents when you drop them. So I really don't think it'll be more durable because it's made out of aluminum.
