I think the black one looks best as well. The two tone is too off putting on the white, its almost like someone urinated on the back of it.

I'm so torn. I like the black one but I've had a black iPhone for awhile, would be nice to change it up and have a phone that matches my white iPad.

First world pains, i guess lol

You are correct, I remember that rumor too and was waiting for it. Never happened, eh

I have never cared for the white models, but this is the first time I have found the white model attractice. With that said, I still find the black model sleeker and so it wins my heart yet again. It did have to fight, however slightly, for it this time though. Maybe white will prevail next time.

The iPhone 4S pictures are already letterboxed on its 3:2 screen. The letterboxing would just be a bit thicker (88 pixels more on each side) on the iPhone 5.

I think you mean when viewing photos that have already been taken? like when viewing them in the Photos app

I'm talking about the live preview in the Camera app, which is 4:3 on all previous iPhones with no black bars/letterboxing. (no letterboxing is required there, since the toolbar at the bottom with the shutter button fills in space)

Does anyone have an idea what time Apple will allow the pre-orders for the iPhone 5 on Friday? i.e. Will it be midnight (eastern time or Pacific time)? Won't to know so I can set my alarm and get my order in before shipping delays start.

It's been 12 midnight PST in the past (3 AM EST) so I'm guessing it'll be the same for this launch. Keeping my eye out for confirmation as well.

I also like the black 32GB. I have a 16G iPhone 4 and while I'm not overly excited about this presentation like I have been in the past, I'm happy with my 2 year cycle. Not to speculate, but if Apple stays on track with their performance upgrade followed by a design upgrade, I think I'll be happy with this one for 2 years.

Although, I have been researching the Galaxy S3 and am very intersted in the Nokia Lumia 920. My contract with AT&T was up last month and so I'm really just waiting for some reviews and to hold both the 920 and the iPhone 5 before I move to Verizon (I'm 90% sure I'll go with the iPhone 5).

My main concerns are migrating from iOS. To Apple's point, their heart has been in music and that is one thing (photography the other) that I truly like about my iPhones and Mac products. Their ability to sync seamlessly has been great and not something I'm wanting to move away from i.e. Google Play and Microsoft Zune. But with that being said- maybe it's time to make a phone a phone, try something new like the Nokia 920, and have my music and photos be on the new 4" iPod Touch!?!? The best of both worlds?

Could I live with two devices in my pocket? That seems so 2007! Oh the decisions! :D

cool stuff, but i bought a 4S last year and i don't see the point of spending more money for such little changes

i'll pass and wait for a iphone 5S or iphone 6 next summer which would probably from better technologies

why doesnt it rotate tho ...

Still no landscape of the home screen in iOS6?!

And I would have liked that silver aluminum one, but I guess black will have to do...

I am looking forward to handing my black iPhone 4 to my wife and cracking a brand new iPhone 5 out of its box. For the first time though I am not certain which color to get. I've always had a black iPhone and shunned the white iPhone but the white iPhone 5 looks pretty sweet.

I guess once I hold one in my hand I'll be able to make a decision.

Not bad

Actually I like it but I'm going to have to see what APPLE is doing regarding stands now that the headset plug has moved to the bottom.

Every version I've preferred the black one...except this one. I think the White one is the superior looking one this time around. Reasoning...I think the silver back and sides will show less scratches therefore you can go case-less or even just a small bumper around it.

I was never a fan of the white before, but I have to agree that this version looks very nice with the aluminum back..... elegant even.

I don't like the headphone jack at the bottom. When I'm not at home, my phone is in my pocket 99% of the time. Which means while I'm walking around town listening to music, it'll be upside down. Like many, I like to pull it slightly out to check the time. Not exactly the end of the world or anything and I'll likely be getting one when my current contract is up in April, but it's just a preference. Who knows, maybe I'll find the new way better.

Good looking phone. Evolutionary if nothing else. There really isn't a lot more new that can be introduced at this point in terms of smart phones, so I think this phone is a logical step forward for Apple.

TechCrunch
- "Build quality is quite nice and the solid aluminum is quite unique and quite solid. Hopefully this will reduce some damage if it falls on a hard surface."

TechCrunch would benefit from hiring a writer that is quite better, quite solid, and quite able to not use one word three times in one sentence.

love the black. its so sexy! white iphones or any white igadgets just don't appeal to me.

and black borders make the display look crispier.

Apple has done it again with the new iphone!

The iphone 5 looks so sleek...Faster chip, more efficient, thinner, lighter, more solid build quality, better speakers, better screen visuals due to the integrated touch technology...

Sales are going to be outrageous.

My views:

Basically it's as though Apple listened to my wish list!

It's thinner, lighter which are both massive points as I find my iPhone 4 too heavy.

The fact it has a sapphire crystal to cover the camera lens is a HHUUUGGEEEEE plus as my iPhone 4 cover is scratched.

The A6 SOC, whilst we will need to wait for what it actually consists off, is also a massive plus and should keep the phone more then powerful enough for a long time.

The camera improvements also sound good but they could have been better I think, like going to 13mpx. But we will have to wait for a snaping shootout to see how it fares.

The screen size increase looks to be great and the fact that the length hasn't gone up by much shouldn't mean too much of a difference.

LTE is meh for me as I can only just about get 3G so LTE is a LONG way off haha.

Dual band WiFI is also very nice, shame it doesn't also have MIMO like the new Fire HD.

Now, the bad thing, it could potentially be the SIM car it uses. I am on Orange in the UK on a 30 day rolling contract and have no wish to change network or contract. So I will need to buy the 32GB model from Apple and then try and get a new SIM.
With any luck as Orange make up half the new EE LTE network, it may mean I can get a new SIM card without too much hassle?

I have to say though overall I am very excited for the new phone. Certainly MUCH more excited then I was for the 4S.
Do we know if it has Gorilla Glass 2 in it?

New video,

does look faster

YouTube: video

The speed looks amazing.

I currently only have an iPhone 3GS so your probably thinking that any speed would look impressive to me. But whenever I saw videos of the iPhone 4 and 4S in action, I never really cared for the speed that much, I barely even noticed it in fact. But with the iPhone 5, I can't help but notice how snappy and speedy it is, and its making me want it.
