Week 39, 64gig Space Grey. As I said was spot on with my 5, zeroed out on my counter top.

I have owned every single iPhone and the build quality in this phone is fantastic. I think I went through three iPhone 5 phones before getting a good one.

Power button has slight rattle but doesn't feel lose at all.

okie. mine is also week 39. will be getting it tomorrow. i hope it turns out to be perfectly fine.

The first picture was a flat surface. The second one wasn't. It's a rug.

Tomorrow I'll try the compass and the other option.

Would it be different because I live in Colombia? Just 2 degrees above the equator.

I'm seeing a genius tomorrow. I'm not going to accept a white-box replacement as I'm still in the 14 day return window and the phone was faulty when I got it (and I want the phone serial number to match the box when I come to resell it). If by any chance they have a fully working retail replacement I will take it, but that is very unlikely.

I like my 5S as it is a significant upgrade from my 4S. However I do expect it to work as advertised (and as described in the manual) which is doesn't. There is no certainty that a software update will fix this, so the safest thing to do is to return the phone for a refund and then wait to see what happens. That will probably mean I will now wait until the iPhone6 comes out!

Did you go and get it swapped out or a telephone arranged exchange? Several people now with a week 39 iphone have reported correct readings but just as many or more have reported incorrect readings. The Apple Tech Supervisor I previously spoke to and I agreed that I will wait for two software updates to see if the issue gets resolved. If not, we'll do some exchanges until I get a fully functional and acceptable device. I'm willing to wait this issue out for not for too long. Some people with week 40 iphones have reported problems too, hit & miss.

No ones table is level ;)

My week 39 was off but a replacement week 37 is bang on. Power button rattles less too (but not perfect like my 4 or 5 was).

Ok, thanks. Mine is week 37 and off about 3-4 degrees.

So you didn't really answer my question about the table. My table is perfectly level up/down and across and your statement is incorrect. Did you check to see if it was level with a carpenters level?? While testing these iphones, everyone here will agree that it's very important to be using a very level surface.

Ok, so I guess this gyro problem on your expensive iphone is no big deal. The included camera will have issues too when using panorama mode according to several posts. Some people also reported that their display would flip 180 degrees when taking pictures due to the gyro problem. I hope this helps. Cheers!!

For the record, mine is off by about 4 degrees. The camera app works perfectly. It takes excellent, clear, straight pictures. I do not need a level for that. I have experimented with panorama and so far they have turned out great. I am going away this weekend and am going to take some nature pano shots and we will see how they turn out. I suspect fine, based on my other panos.
I understand the gyro and accelerometer play a role in the phone's orientation, etc., but I have not been able to perceive any problems with any functionality of the phone or apps so far. I do not play any games that require gyro, however. I am still reading this thread and anxiously awaiting a fix though!

I usually upgrade every other model, for three reasons:
1) after two models, there are generally enough new features to justify the expense
2) the S upgrades (3GS and 4S) have, for me, been trouble free. The main problems seem to arise when they change the form factor
3) as the S upgrades generally have the same form factor, there is a good selection of cases at launch (which is when I have upgraded in the past).

Unfortunately the 5S bucks this trend.

Seems everything is ok now no -3 but a zero degrees on flat surface and on the long edge a zero degree too. Will post pics compare to a 5C and a real level.

Keep you inform about any drift during next days .....

I agree. I got a good feeling that when the iphone 6 comes out a year from now, I won't be in line on day 1 and will wait a few weeks to ensure if any problems arise and get fixed. I hope this gets fixed by software very soon. My current iphone 5s is perfect except for the gyro and don't want to get in a position where I have to keep doing exchanges because of this issue or other issues. Been down that road before with the iphone 4S (screen issues) and finally deciding to wait for the iphone 5. Cheers!!

Was this a in-store replacement or over the telephone exchange? I guess you lucked out for many people are getting replacements with the same issues.
