Why?
If the 5C is launched together with the 5S, such a bump in storage would help differentiating the phones, as the 5C would carry the 16 GB option.

Yes, I agree about the bump in storage, but if there's a lower-price option in the 5C available, Apple no longer have the need to peg their start pricing so low (relatively speaking!). We may well see an increase to 32GB for the iPhone 5S base model, but I think Apple may also choose to increase the base model price as part of that differentiation.

AAPL really means good taste and design. Not.
You haven't even seen it. This is ridiculous.

----------

How exactly is that simple? Simple is:

-Kill 4, 4S and 5.
-5C: five colors, 16GB only.
-5S: Black, white, champagne, 32-64-128GB.
Sounds about right but I don't think Apple will give up their three tier pricing strategy. I'm guessing:

5C (white) 8 GB: $0
5C (all colors) 16 GB: $99
5S 32 GB: $199
5S 64 GB: $299
5S 128 GB: $399

Wow, some of you are just so stereotypical.

The iPhone is made for EVERYONE in mind. Meaning teenagers, those in their 20's, 30's, and so on. If the iPhone came out in those soft colors that the iPod Nano and Shuffle came in, it would be a pretty tough sale for the older crowd who'd just opt for the white and black/slate options.

Even if they went for the neon colors, it'd still be hard to sell. They've been making iPods for years, they know what colors work and what don't.

I personally would LOVE to get an iPhone in champagne gold. They'll obviously do it right (unlike that gold colored iPod someone mentioned that didn't sell well), and it'll make for a sophisticated product that looks and feels great.

I absolutely fell in love in the white iPhone 5C (okk that name seriously is a joke! ) never had a problem with plastic, lets see, won't sell my iP5 for that though lol would be stupid right -.- ermm and to reply to the article, mehhhh I am curious about the price from 64 -> 128GB should be near the $1000??

5C (white) 8 GB: $0
5C (all colors) 16 GB: $99
5S 32 GB: $199
5S 64 GB: $299
5S 128 GB: $399

I don't think the price difference between 5C 16GB and 5S 32GB will only be $100. The 5C has less storage, (presumably) older hardware and a cheaper plastic case.

Top seller in the Middle East!

Ha, ha. You are probably right and the guy below will probably be the first one to buy it to match his shirt. :D

Pretty sad state Apple is in. I still remember when people stood in line for one color; black. And 128gig I can understand but the price on contract will be $400 if Apple does 32gig for $200. And if they keep the 16gig at $200 expect $500 on contract. That's crazy money to be throwing at any phone.
Really?? Sad state?? Apple had a 15% growth in revenue from January to July. Apple has enough resellers so consumers do not have to stand on line.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo...

What is it with Macrumors and this jackass? This "analyst" just repeats every single rumor on Apple's upcoming products realizing that some of them are bound to be correct.

Just curious, anybody know how good of a job Ming did predicting the iPad 4?

Golden lambo, golden ak-47, golden toilet and now a golden iphone! every arab sheikh's wet dream:cool:

I think he was the first one to predict it.

In addition to coverage of all-new iPod touch and iPod nano models in his report released earlier today, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also offered more predictions about Apple's iOS device plans for the September-October timeframe. According to Kuo, Apple is looking to launch the next-generation iPhone in September, perhaps closer to the beginning of the month...

...Interestingly, Kuo also claims that Apple will be tweaking the internals of the current full-size iPad around the same time, making changes to address thermal issues and reduce costs.

I'll be buying a gold iPhone, if only because it's different from every other iPhone I've owned for the past 6 years.

32/64/128 sound GREAT!!

As for gold and being big sellers in Dubai and for Celebs as noted here...I'd think they'd want REAL GOLD.

They could be rather 16/64/128GB – pushing customers to the models with higher margins (64GB especially, those chips dont cost much at all but have a solid premium pricing).

They want to tap in to the ever lucrative douche market.

Always an ego driven narcissistic company that panders to Hollywood, the gold iPhone will draw so much attention that nothing else will matter.

Locally the vehicle most are seen in is mockingly called a Beverly Hills Chevrolet
(MBZ) because everyone has one.

It ought to be hilarious to hear what this gaudy phone is called.

i hope 5s will have a dualcore chip not a quadcore.
no one needs quadcores on a phone (even on a pc you need it only if you do heavy multitasking) but EVERYONE needs battery lifetime.

Please apple be dualcore with more battery power and ignore the quad and octacore **** unless you have a such extreme efficient processor to save energy.

For all the rappers who want a phone to match their grills.

If this is true (and I doubt it) Tim Cook should be tested for drugs. 16GB is most popular, 32GB a little ways behind, and 64GB is off the radar.

Making a God-awful colour with a capacity 99% of consumers don't want to pay for? Super great idea!

Pretty sure the cost is the deciding factor here not the storage capacity. If the base model is 32GB. Guess what, it will become the one sold the most.
