After using m my 6+ I simply can't go back to a screen below 5 inches. And a 4in screen? Yeah can't do it. I picked up my 5S and holy hell that things looks so damn small. Still love the design tho.

Agreed...though I'll be hanging onto mine for a while to see if I get more used to it. Tough to use one handed and seems like it'll be easy to drop. Came from a 5S. Wish Apple would have come out with a phone same size as the 5S but the same thinness, rounded corners, better camera, and other new features.

This. They need to take an iPod Touch 5 and stick the phone radio and GPS bits in. That's my dream phone.

I've only had my iPhone 6 a day, but I really find it's too big for me. I can't really use it one handed, I have to adjust my grip as I hold it up to my ear, and it generally feels easy to drop. I've switched back to my iPhone 5 and it really is the perfect size for me.

Anyone else feeling the same? I would quite like Apple to release an iPhone 6 in a 4" format. The faster CPU and better camera are all I really want.

I'm selling my iPhone 6 in the marketplace since they are still hard to get a hold of.

Just got in the office this morning and came to post the same thing...I'm not quite ready to sell mine yet, but having used it all weekend, I'm just not bonding with it....

I LOVE the design though, it feels like a throwback to the first gen iPhone which I still own, and is (was) my favourite iPhone...

To wit: you have to give yourself more than a day. Having had a Plus since launch day I can say with all honesty that today, picking up my 5 I can barely tell the difference between it and my old 4S anymore, even though the size difference seemed painfully obvious just three days ago. The vanilla 6 isn't nearly as big a leap in size, so I'd imagine that giving yourself a week or so to overcome your "smaller phone extinction event" would fair. After all, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked.

Anyway, not to try and convince anyone to do anything they don't want to do, but at least consider giving it a fair shot.

I've had an iPhone 5/5S for two years. Is that long enough to have a valid opinion? Because I've never gotten used to it; it's just a little bit too big to be comfortable carrying and using. Just as much so as when I first got it. Which tells me that I'm not likely to be happy with a bigger phone. I could maybe endure the discomfort of an iPhone 6, but see no reason to, and I wouldn't carry a 6+ if someone gave me one.

If people like the bigger phones, that's fine. Good for you. But why attack people who don't like them? Why would someone lie about it?

The iPhone 6 is really big for me. And I had the g3!! Maybe people will learn that bigger phones are not always better

I own a LG G3 and its a lot bigger than the regular iPhone 6. Its virtually the same size as the iPhone 6 plus cept a little shorter. Don't know how you can own a 5.5" phone and say the 4.7" iphone is too big doesn't make any sense.

Finally got to handle the new iPhones. I like them both but only the 6 would fit my lifestyle. Even then for some moments it's a little too wide my my hand on some tasks but I don't see that as a downer. Both phones are really nice to hold and I didn't mind the bands. I'd hazard a guess my manual dexterity would go up using the iphone 6

I sold it to a friend today, but I did continue trying to use it over the weekend, so it's been days of usage. I really do love the screen, so much nicer to type on too, but overall form factor the 4" does it for me.

I know Apple had to release a larger device as that's what the market wants. But in providing for one market sector it's alienated another. And unfortunately for me, I'm in the alienated sector of the market.

They really have. Having a 4", 4.7" and 5.5" selection would suit everyone. I really just want a faster phone, better camera and a better battery. It's frustrating that to stay with Apple, I have to get a much larger phone.

It would help if this double-tap thing brought the screen down just another quarter inch. What the point of getting SO close but not quiet far enough?

The other frustrating thing about 'reachability' is that if you open a folder, it goes back to full screen mode! Surely it should stay in reachability mode until you've opened an app. Easily fixed with a software update though.

While my 4.7" iPhone 6 is manageable, I do feel like 4.3"-4.5" would've been the sweet spot. It takes some stretching on certain tasks and I don't see how I'm going to "adjust" to it, as my hands will probably stay the same size. Maybe some iOS adjustments to minimize double tapping the home button and use the top of the screen for less tap intensive purposes will help.

I'm on the same boat and I guess I must bite the bullet and move to Android since the reality is Apple will never release again smaller devices, they will have the watch for that.

That's what I'm thinking too. I don't actually want to move to android but if I want a new phone I don't have much choice. Going to go and have a look at some smaller screen androids this week.

5s has better battery than the 5. I know people who upgraded and are still surprised. Touch ID, m7 chip. Its a better iPhone.

Yes. But it's a marginally better phone. But It's not £480 better. I won't get it and go 'yeah, that was worth the cash' like I would if I did buy the 6. I would feel like I'd bought the same phone twice. I went from the 4 to the 4s simply because I got it free on a 12 month contract at the time and didn't notice a difference using the 4s over the 4.

But no company can please everyone all the time. And good on apple for listening to the majority and moving to the bigger screens.

You should go back and read the post you're replying to again because I was very careful not to attack anyone. Nor did I accuse anyone of lying or suggest that anyone's opinion wasn't valid.

Not necessarily a majority; just the noisiest. And, of course, it's easier to make a big phone than a small one. I suspect that the reason why we don't have an improved 4" phone is that they couldn't improve it significantly with the current technology.

While I haven't tried using one of the new iPhones I get where the OP is coming from, I've been using a 4.3" android phone for a while, and while I can use it one handed I find myself using 2 hands close to half the time since it is more comfortable. I couldn't imagine being able to use anything much bigger with one hand, probably if I ever get forced to go bigger because of lack of availability of anything smaller I'd go with something around the size of the iPhone+ so it's more like a tablet that just happens to make phone calls.

I'm sure they could have improved it at least as much as the 6 was. My guess is the reason they only went with bigger screens was that they weren't confident enough that they could get enough of the people who already switched to android to get bigger screens back so they wanted to force everyone into big screens to be sure that they would sell.

They made the phone bigger for the screen, not because they couldn't fit the internals into a 4" device - they are using more efficient components.

There's definitely a trend geared toward "phablets" right now. Not sure how much that trend has to do with convenience, functionality, so on.

I think after the iPad people were turned on to the idea of having what a tablet offers in their pockets. Not realizing they would lose the portability that smaller phones offer.

----------

It kind of is too big, but its growing on me.

Really surprised no one has used "that's what she said" yet.

Yeah. They are the noisiest!

I had really really hoped they'd update the 5s to the same CPU etc that the 6 has and I would have got that. But the 5s isn't a big enough jump from the 5 to justify paying out £480 for the privalage. Since they had the iPhone 6+ why couldn't they also have the iPhone 6 mini or some other name. Then there really is something for everyone.

So as far as owning an iPhone now, I'm out of options. Unless I stick with what I have. Which I could do. It's a perfectly fine phone that does all I need it to. But I quite simply want to upgrade.

Will go back to the apple store and have another look at the 6 before deciding either way.

If we get lucky next year apple will introduce an iPhone mini and give us an option of a smaller size again.

If there was some form of actual evidence that they would do this I'd just hold off until next year.

Surely they will do something. It's clear that they now want to cater for all and have verious sizes etc. so surely they won't completely exclude those who like smaller screens in future. And they can't think the 5s is going to cut it for years to come.

Your smaller screen is the Apple Watch. On iOS devices Apple seems to be going larger. Look for a larger iPad next month. I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPad mini dropped along with (eventually) the 5C and 5S as well.

OP, if you feel you want something new, why don't you look at a new 5s? Touch ID, faster processor and slightly better camera are awaiting for you.
