I decided to wait for a case that I like that can show the gold. And because it's sooo slippery, I got the Apple Care as I always do anyway and got the Ghost Armor coating on it. It's totally grip-able and has taken away most of my fear of dropping and nic'ing it.

second impression/thoughts (over the weekend):
  • this ***** is still big
  • iPhone 6 is a nice size, this + thing is still huge
  • screen is amazing, but that battery life is even more impressive! loving it compared to the measly 5.
  • industrial design isn't that appealing. i miss the iPhone 5 design (the diamond cut chamfered edge gives me a hard-on).
  • processing speed is comparable to iPhone 5S/iPad Air. do i really need an iPad now?
  • this thing fits in my jeans. barely. with the headphone jack sticking out. something is bound to break.
  • camera is awesome. AF accuracy and speed is stunning. and slo-mo is so fun. now to only convince the fiancee to record her bouncing boobs in slo-mo.
  • should i return this for an iPhone 6? still think this might be too big.
(after the weekend):
  • went back and held my old iPhone 5. CHRIST this 4" is small. how did i ever use this thing for two years?
  • went back and held an iPhone 4S. LOL. this must be a joke.
  • yeah i'm keeping the 6+. that screen/battery/camera is too good to pass up.
  • some apps look like crap on the 6+. hurry up developers!!!!!

I have a 6 - picking up a 6+ today, have the same feeling about the size. I think it will probably replace my iPad mini. Thanks for sharing your train of thoughts. Nice pic what iPad case is that?

you'll get used to it. What's really interesting is not so much the current size of the phone, but looking back and realizing how small the original size of the phones were. you can't go back. oh, and thats the smart case (product Red) from Apple. :)

This little 6" cable works wonders for pockets!
yeah I wear pretty slim/skinny pants. if I so much attempt to walk I get weary that anything connected to the headphone jack (no matter how slim) will break off. I'm looking into fanny packs right now.

If you're on the android/iPhone fence, I would seriously wait around for the 2014 Nexus 5 (that appears to be the rumor now) and see if you like it. Either that or wait it out for the 6S.

Also, as goofy as a lot of us thought it was, the double tapping the home button to drop the screen down works and is quite convenient to reach the far corner of the screen.

I'm not in the fence tbh. I always was an iPhone guy, it was just last year that I got a Nexus 5 for a simple reason: I had never tried Android and I wanted to give it a chance. I wanted to be able to compare after having used both, not just stick to one system blindly.

I liked the experience, Android has a lot of features that I'd like iOS to gain, but in the end, I NEED to go back to Apple's ecosystem. Owning a Mac will make this critical with Yosemite.

I'm in the 6 vs 6+ fence though, lol. This bending issue has got me a little worried, but I think I'm heading towards the 6+. I still have 14 days to return it in case I feel it's too big though, so...

Having owned both now, I will say that I would have had trouble giving up screen size. The reachability feature truly keeps the Plus as a one handed device. I've used the feature several times today already. Plus the battery life on the Plus is sick.

Did you own a 5S before? How would you compare the 6+'s battery life to the 5S'?

Yes I did. I would have to say that it's close to double the battery life, maybe a tad less. I normally don't run it all the way down but I gauge it by situations instead. Normally I leave work after 8 hours and on the 5s it would be at 70%. On the 6+ it's around 91%. So better than double in that situation.

Used my 6 + in the office today. An hour commute listening to radio via 4G, usual emails and a bit of browsing. Back home after 9 hours the battery was on 79%. My 5s used to fall to 20% and often needed a quick charge before leaving the office. V impressive. I also leave Bluetooth and wifi on all the time.

My only real complaint so far is the position of the lock button. I can see why Apple put it there with the larger phones, but I find it's now awkward to adjust the volume, because my thumb often happens to be right over the lock button, and as Newton taught us all, for every button press there is an equal and opposite button press on the other side of the phone. I suspect over time I'll adjust the way I do this without even thinking (I'm already finding it a bit easier), but yeah… not ideal placement IMO.

So I'm a lefty and have the exact problem but in reverse. Often I'm trying to use my pointer finger to lock and my thumb starts mashing "Volume Up". Not the biggest of problems, but it's just not a no-brainer thing for me anymore. (Probably speaks more about my brain than the actual phone :p)

Can any one tell me if they notice any performance improvements moving from 5/5s to iphone 6?

I read the specs and there about 100mhz increase in CPU and RAM didn't change.

Had my Plus since Friday, no bends yet, what do I win?

It's really not for everyone but I love it. Battery life is definitely a step forward, been using it with my typical, fairly heavy, daily usage + a little extra 'cos it's new and shiny. Using dawn till dusk without extra charging, it's never dipped below 10%. Given the battery will lose 10% or so with age, and I'll use it maybe 5% less once the new shiny appeal as worn off, overall I think I can realistically use it a day without a midday charge. Note, I don't do any gaming on my phone for battery reasons, throw games on there and I'd definitely need a quick charge.

Screen is notably brighter than my previous phone, 5S, can see it pretty well in bright sunlight. Pretty surprised on that score.

Also, seem to get a better signal in places where I'd normally get just about one bubble. My rMini always got a better signal on the same carrier (EE) in the same place as my 5S. The 6 Plus seems to get the same as my rMini, which is bonus as I travel all over the place on the train.

Also, at LAST, I can type in portrait comfortably.

The only downer, personally, is my need for a case.

Always used phones nekkid, but combo of larger, thinner, rounded edges make it impossibly slippy. Plumped for the silly priced leather Apple case, Black, it's about 1,000 times grippier with it on. Plus, I can actually pick it up off a table in a case, it's surprisingly tricky without.

Makes it look like a typical huge Samsung phone actually, which is fine by me. 'Dat Space Grey slab of alu is pretty conspicuous.

Got my 6+ on the 1st day. Bigger than I thought it would be. Its an awesome phone. Great for those who watch movies, surfs the net allot, those with bad eyes or folks with big fingers. Apple could have just made a 5 inch phone instead of 2 different phone sizes and still sell a boat load of them. If I had to do it all over again, would have bought the iphone 6. But I am not getting rid of this phablet. I did get a case that has a metal back plate so I don't bend it in my back pocket. Am a satisfied customer. Kudo's to apple.

I bought the 6 and positively love it. A few days ago, though, I stopped by the Apple Store to pick up a case. They were out of the case I wanted, but I played with the 6+ and couldn't believe how much I liked it. I had assumed that size would be entirely wrong for me, but now I'm seriously second-guessing. It probably helps that I'm 6'3" and have large hands, but the size doesn't seem excessive at all (to me).

My concern is not with day-to-day activities, as I carry a briefcase, but rather with those times I need to carry the phone in a slim-fitting suit or in tight jeans for a cocktail night. The thing about a phone is that you need it everywhere, so I don't want to make a choice that works most of the time and fails completely some of the time. Any advice from 6+ users who deal with similar circumstances?

I'm 6ft 7 and have the plus. I love the sizee aswell. The only thing that is putting me off is the going out/meeting jeans and trousers. I'm actually considering getting a deep pocket sewn in. Ridiculous I know.

I am having a ball using my iPhone 6, however I am not in love with the new look. My iPhone 4s, and the 5/5s had very distinctive looks and this iteration of iPhones look very pedestrian, and one would be hard pressed to pick it out of the sea of similar sized Android phones on the market.

Of course, this is just my opinion after using the phone for a couple days.

I dont know, I think the thinness of the device makes it stand out more when people look at your hands/device when walking by, me personally I LOVE the space grey black glass look in the front, like the whole screen morphs into the edges in a way with blackness that keen nice look. It is much better then the borders on the 5S/5 they feel rough while your finger basically glides off to the left/right on the 6/6 Plus

Got my plus today. Only problem I have noticed so far is that the vibrate is really loud!! Bf has the 6 and it's definitely a lot quieter. :-/

Is this a dumb question: can the vibrator be made to vibrate more quietly via firmware if there's not already a setting in there somewhere?

iPhone 4 16g -> iPhone 6 64g is a huge upgrade. Here are my thoughts

The good
All my apps run smoothly now, no more several seconds of latency every action on things like google maps, facebook and instagram. don't get me started on games!
Screen looks great to my eyes
Battery life seems crazy good so far
Extra 1.7" makes instagram look great. Loving the extra 2 rows of icons
Camera upgrade is amazing! Focus is fast and images are much clearer! No shutter latency also which I am loving
Speaker sounds twice as good
Touch ID is amazing and one of the main reasons I upgraded (the other being camera)
This phone is super thin! It's now so thin that the input jack on my headphones is thicker than the device it's being connected to haha

The bad
I still hate the protruding camera
Space grey could, and should be a darker colour imo. Slate would have been awesome
I still think those antenna bands are supremely ugly
The casing is very slippery compared to the glass front. Potential for lots of drops
Body feels quite large in my hands. I am often having to shuffle it's position which again increases the chances of it being dropped or knocked from my hands.
The writing on the back definitely does seem to be crooked haha
Doesn't feel as well made, sturdy or comfortable in the hand as the iPhone 4

amazingly huge upgrade but the size will take some getting used to

That's awesome to be honest.

Now that you put that example I remember that I did usually leave work at 35-40% battery life until they installed a network antenna a lot closer. Now I leave at around 85%. (Change was from 1-2 bars to all 5 in a Nexus 5).

Well I've had the phone for a week now—enough time to say with more conviction, yes, I really do hate the placement of the lock button. It's just so easy to press now, and I can't for the life of me work out why Apple considers that a good thing. It's only real purpose is to switch the phone off and on! And I turn it on with the home button normally, which reduces its purpose to switching it off—something you don't want to be doing accidentally all the time. It's the one thing really detracting from my enjoyment of the device.

does it really add to grip? That's my main thing with the plus. It's too slippery. I don't like cases but I put them on to grip, and to protect for future sale (scratches/marks)

Got my iPhone 6 Plus with red leather case yesterday and absolutely love it.

The screen is amazing, and coming from an iPhone 5, Touch ID is super convenient. It's certainly not absolutely revolutionary, but the bigger screen, faster processor, slow motion camera, OIS make for the best phone I've ever used.

No problem fitting it in my pockets, either!

third (one-week) impressions:
  • i still think it's too big, but that's the whole point, isn't it?
  • got a case and screen protector. case adds a bit of bulk so i can't experience the "thinness" of the phone. at least it adds grip so no accidental drops.
  • bendgate? really? i wear skinny jeans/khakis and clearly most of these noobs who are complaining have no idea how to handle large objects in their pants.
  • but srsly, i took my phone out of the case and double checked to make sure it wasn't bent. i see no issues whatsoever. with or without case i haven't changed the way i store my phone in the front pocket. then again I've always been careful with my personal devices.
  • downloaded Asphalt 8 and have been playing it over the passed few days. so fun and the graphics are insane! a bit of more battery drain than I am used to (I RARELY play games) but my god, this is console level details i am seeing here. its quite addicting and i cant put the phone down. btw, absolutely no stuttering/hiccups/freezes in terms of graphics or CPU performance from the phone. it simply works and works well.
  • design STILL bores me. i miss my iphone 5 in that regard. ive seen others with iphone 6s and it took time for me to realize that they are new. seems so generic to me now.
  • protruding camera never bothered me. now with a case the phone stays flat and level. im impressed with the photos app, especially the editing aspect of it. still need to take advantage of the camera since the phone really does take great pictures.

The screen amazes me. It is so beautiful, you can't help but say "wow." The device also looks great in General and feels great in the hands, although it's slippery. Runs buttery smooth and from what I've seen, the camera is amazing. I also keep forgetting to use Touch ID and keep entering my pin lol
