I happened to leave my iPad mini retina at work over the weekend. That forced me to use the 6 plus for the entire weekend. I've found that I can make do, but there were times I was missing my iPad, eg gaming, watching and reading.

Sure, I could do all those things on the plus, but I always remembered that they were far better on the iPad. Maybe the plus' advantage is that I might be able to do all those things in situations with the plus on the go where previously I wouldn't have bothered bringing the iPad or connecting it to my phone's hotspot to do something (and hotspots will kill the battery on the 6 in no time).

So far, I can see why Apple left out a plus size phone until now. It's really a compromise between two. When you use it there are times you miss the larger iPad. At the same time, when on the go and mobile, there are times when you miss the smaller iPhone.

The only chief area it doesn't compromise at the moment for me is battery life. I'll have to see whether it's enough to keep me from going back to the 6.

That's what it comes down to for me in the end; how much do I really value that battery life? Enough to put up with the unwieldy size and enough to accept I will need to change some phone habits? Still experimenting with that to be honest...

- Lack of notification light. This is kinda of a big deal to me. When I watch movies on my computer I put the headphones in and I miss a lot of notifications. An LED notification light would be awesome.
You can use the LED flash as notification light.
Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>LED Flash for alerts.

It's not the same. For one, because it is not continuous. It only blinks up a couple of times, either additional to or as substitute for the sound. For another, because it's very intrusive and requires the phone to be turned upside down. Other people will notice the flash as well, as if someone took a photo.

The lack of an LED notification is very big reason for me why I am hesitating to switch back to iPhone from my BlackBerry Z10. The LED is such a convenient feature. It will blink subtly for a certain time every three seconds, so you know that you missed something while you were gone. You can change the colour per app or contact to make it even more useful and it also saves battery because the screen doesn't have to light up every time (and you don't have to check randomly whether there are new notifications).

Love the phone but hate the new location of the power button.....

If they had to move it to the side it should be lower on the iPhone 6+, I rather it stayed on top though.

Only complaint I personally have with the power button is that it should not have been located directly opposite the volume buttons, due to accidental pressing.

Waiting on my 6 Plus—can someone who has one please post a screenshot of how group iMessage chats look in landscape? On the 5 it's completely ridiculous, with the QuickType bar and the chat participant names bar there is a tiny sliver for content… Hoping this looks a lot better on my new Plus!

Yeah I always hated that...I don't group chat allot but I notice this issue pops up in some other areas where the keyboard takes up like 85% of the space  :( I only got the iPhone 6 not the 6 Plus but hoping its still somewhat better....would you mind posting a screenshot if you get yours soon?

After finally moving from my 5 year old nokia phone..
I just got my hands on this beautiful iPhone 6, its gorgeous, really amazing.. I was just pretty disappointed with the camera, it could be way better.

The camera on my 6 is amazing. It does things with clarity-hand held-I've never been able to do before. Either yours is defective or you should look up some tips on how to use it.
I'm not being rude, I'm being serious.
Regards
Ron

I used Galaxy S5 before I got the iPhone 6 and I have to agree that LED notification light is very useful! Not a deal breaker for me but I do miss it and I don't see why Apple have not been able to implement something on the iPhone. They could have implement it on the Touch ID ring (to glow different colours for different types of notifications) but my guess is we will see that going to with the iPhone 7 if they are going to manage touch ID on display. My guess is iPhone 7 will see the biggest design changes ever made to iPhone.

I think YMMV with that feature. Some people really got used to it, others like me, not so much. I've had BlackBerries with it, and its nice, but at the end of the day, I use my phone so much the LED is superfluious imho - at least for my needs.

I LOVE my 6+. My only gripe is the placement of the power button. It's not a matter of getting used to the new placement...I just find it harder to reach it in this new position.....I still find myself reacing for it at the top thinking "it just feels wrong"....it actually feels as if it would be easier to reach if it were still at the top.

I feel like the 6 plus is better by default for those upgrading from the 5s like myself. although still a very nice phone there arent really enough new features to justify upgrading to the 6 if im being honest unless you just like having the newest device (also like me lol). I spent a week and a day with the 6 and a day and a half with the plus and I love the plus. it didnt take nearly as long as i thought to get used to the size change im probably one of the few that can actually manage one handing it with little effort its just the power button/volume buttons are disorienting especially since i still use the ipad air frequently. other than that no complaints at all with the plus just waiting for the bugs to be worked out which i found is the same case with 6 which my wife still has and loves.

I've had the plus for 3 weeks and I must say these are pretty accurate pros/cons. Overall the pros vs the cons made me keep the plus and after 3 weeks I'm now used to it and tiny iPhone 5s look like kid toys. :)

So glad I chose the plus!

I had mine for 7 days. I thought that the cons outweighed the pros. So glad I got rid of it!

got my 6 plus after years of android (iphone before that), love the big screen but was used to large screens on android. Top and bottom bezel are a pity though, they should have been a lot smaller. The 6 plus could have been at least a centimeter smaller in height. Will get used to it though.

I'm thinking of selling my ipad air now I have my 6 plus. Haven't touched or missed the ipad since I got the 6 plus.

Not only inconvenient but probably a battery killer. An android style notification light would be awesome. Or better yet something around the home button that lights up.

The only reason I keep my air and soon to be air 2 is because of unlimited data ... If I had it on my phone I would ditch the iPad completely

Nice updates and impressions, guys.

I am still deciding between a case or going naked (with AppleCare). Decisions, decisions. What are you guys doing?
Don't forget the $79 deductible. A reporter at the introduction mentioned that a "naked" phone is "slippery" in your hand due to the rounded edges and can fall to the floor easily if you aren't careful.

Apple says:
'No gaps. Just a smooth, seamless bond of metal and glass that feels like one continuous surface."

I have the iPhone 6 and iPad air. I have only tried 6+ at the store but IMO when you are at home and want to browse the web from the comfort of your sofa, nothing beats the air. But then maybe if I had the 6+ I could change my mind.

I feel the same way. There's been countless times where I pressed it accidentally trying to press the volume button or the other way around. I've also pressed it while rearranging my phone in my pocket from the outside it's a little annoying. Nothing serious just gets annoying a bit.

im feeling exactly the same way. The iPad Air is awesome, but getting no love at the moment.

I was the same way. After the novelty of the new phone wore off and I stopped playing with it, I was right back to using the Air as my preferred device while at home.
Yeah, I'm wary of that happening, so we'll see in time. But for the first time, I feel like I'm not making any significant compromises when consuming media & gaming on a phone, compared to my tablet.

Just came here to post the same thing. I love everything about this phone except this. Drives me NUTS. Every time I want to hit the power button when the phone is sitting on my desk, I inevitably squeeze the volume buttons at the same time. At the very least, the power button shouldn't have been aligned with the volume buttons.

You are correct. Absolute stupidity - the location of the power button. But other than that, the 6 is the most fantastic device I have ever owned. I absolutely love it, and love the camera. I also love my retina mini and it sure looks like I'm going to be keeping that bad boy for a while. Between those devices, I am set. Pity though, I've got about 1200 bucks in my pocket for an upgrade and nothing to spend it on.

iphone 6

Got my iphone 6, not that huge size one :) First impression it is good quality device, I don't like rounded corners on screen and that it doesn't seem perfect on colors. Slightly yellowish and gray on low lights settings. Otherwise everything works, finally keyboard is bigger for my fingers! :) I own all iphones and ipad models starting from iphone 4 and ipad 2, it is definitely the best one in line. Waiting for ipad ... :)
