That sucks about moving the power button IMO. Even on my Note 3 I always wish the power button was on top, but I have fairly large hands. I just hate how easy it is to constantly press the side power buttons while it's in my pocket and burn battery life.

I just pray that Apple never loses the hardware mute toggle button, this is the most useful button IMO and I always hate switching to non Apple phones because they don't have this.

I really hop they don't move the sleep/wake button to the side. I've use samsung phone with the button on the side and I always end up changing the volume and such went trying to put the phone to sleep.

Really hope they don't move it.

iPhone device storage falling behind

With all these new capabilities being added like the 8MP camera resolution, faster internet downloads and increasing number of apps, the 16/32/64 GB memory configurations just aren't cutting it. Also, the amount of free memory required for updates seems to be much higher (e.g. 7.1). Its been a while since they dropped the 8GB and added 64GB. Given Apple doesn't support memory cards, it's time for another shift to 32/64/128/

Using the Nexus 5 as a benchmark (5" class) it definitely makes sense to put the power button on the side on a larger phone..The volume and power button on the N5 are perfectly placed for my grip..

Changing the resolution to preserve PPI doesn't make any sense to me when you're increasing the length AND width. That was a step used for simplification on the 5 display to preserve the width element of graphic elements.

If you're going to increase the width of the display, throw all of that out the window. Personally I think they should just make both the 4.7" and 5.5" (if they both exist) as 1080p 16:9 displays. One resolution change persistent across both sizes. I hope they keep the 5 size around for people who want smaller phones, though.

As for RAM, Apple has typically upgraded it every other year. I expect we'll see 2GB of LPDDR3 this year. If nothing else, legacy support of iOS 9 and 10 down the road won't want to run on a phone with only 1GB of RAM, particularly as everything gets normalized to 64 bit.

The on/off button on the side sucks!
My HTC one Max has it on the side. With the Max, Im constantly hitting the screen off when I want to Vol up/down.

With my old regular HTC One, the button was on the top. When its in the charging cradle, you only need one finger to press down on the top to wake,
With the Max (side button) you need to squeeze the whole phone to find the button, and half the time you hit the vol up/dn which, while sleeping, which does nothing. Any side button near the volume buttons stink!

I LOVE my HTC one Max, but if Iphone does anything over 5”, ill be back. I need the screen size for internet, and don’t text much.

What?! 4.7-inch model with only 1334x750 resolution?? What about the 1-year old HTC One which managed to do 1920x1080 with the same size? If the rumors comes true, it would be a complete disappointment.

Indeed. I don't see the point in 401ppi, since not too long ago Apple claimed whatever the previous "retina" resolution was the maximum a person could resolve. Sounds like something added for the measurebaters (I frequent a DSLR forum, it's a common term there.)

More RAM would be welcomed. More RAM = better performance + the possibility of multitasking.

Exactly =)

Only 1GB of RAM in the iPhone 6? Really? :(

Not going to forgive 1 Gb of ram in iPhone 6 ....

----------

Who cares? The OS will still run like butter.

I've been accused to be an Apple apologist, but 1 Gb on an high end smartphone at the end of 2014 will be ridiculous.

----------

Who wants to take bets the lowest memory size will still be 16GB!! :( Time to get with the times Apple all your competitors are putting in 32 minimum these days.

HTC One and S5 are 16 Gb in the base model .... I'm ok with a 16 Gb iPhone 6

----------

What problem would you have if the phone has 1gb ram and works nicely??

1 Gb is barely acceptable today ....

----------

Well, it's nearly as good as my Nexus 5, nearly, needs to have 2 gb ram first.

Will also be interesting to see Gorilla glass compared to sapphire glass, if that's what they use.

Nearly as good as a nexus 5 ? a8 will runs circles around a nexus 5 ....

Apple claimed that. But it's marketing blabla. I see a clear difference beetween my old iphone5 (320ppi) and my current HTC One (469ppi).
Fyi > http://www.cultofmac.com/173702/why-retina-isnt-enough-feature/

Apple choosed not to upgrade his pixel density since 2010. That is really poor for a "premium brand".

The "marketing blabla" is that you need 469 PPI ... Everything above 300 PPI is enough to have a good display.
The last problem with an iPhone is the resolution.

Maybe this is the year Apple finally reworks its nomenclature for iPhone.

iPhone 6 (4"), iPhone 6L (4.7") and iPhone 6XL (5.5")

I just came up with this because I'm hopping they still produce the 4inch device. :D

oh boy, too many iphone articles in a single day... it's coming guys. fasten your seat belts

and damn, I am liking that mockup more and more by every passing day. me wants

All that's coming are rumors (where most are quite a stretch). Unfortunately the phone itself is still 6 months off regardless of how much we know, or think we know. :(

There is so much misinformed speculation in this article that it makes me feel second hand shame...

There was a post recently with patent info on the fingerprint scanner which showed plans to use it for multiple bells and whistles... hence the move towards all sapphire I assume.

I'd be fine with a gig of RAM. I don't know of any app, Android or iOS, that would take advantage of more RAM. I value battery life more, especially when my iPhone 5 still feels about as fast on iOS 7 as it did when I first got it with iOS 6 in 2012.

I will say, however, that suddenly (after thinking about it), my 5 doesn't feel as behind on the tech these days if the next iPhone iterations actually do release with 1.0 GB of RAM.

I could easily name one: Safari
