It's not an iPhone 6/6Plus issue, it's an iOS8 issue - a bunch of us are having it happen with the iPhone 5 as well.

It's very, very, VERY annoying.

(EDIT: Resetting Network Settings doesn't permanently fix it, nor full restore. It's just an intermittent bug in the OS itself)

I'm not trying to stir it up here, really I'm not, but how can you know this for sure? Surely if this was an ios 8 issue, everyone with an iPhone 6 would be reporting it. Not to mention Apple's new (broken) 8.0.1 update does NOT mention any wifi fixes.

So, can we try and establish right here and now - is this iOS8 causing the problem or do some of us just have broken phones? All replies welcome.

Wifes new phone still having issues, trying WilliamGs fix.

Try setting up the IP address as Static instead of DHCP when you select your wifi router. Seems to have fixed my issues with my Airport TC.

I've been experiencing awful WiFi since iOS 8 BETA 1. It was bad from the very start.

The fix for my iPhone 5s (and my wife's new iPhone 6) is the following:

Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Wi-Fi Networking -> Turn OFF.

This setting left on just uses your WiFi as a helper for GPS location to get a faster fix (from what I read), so for now at least - turn it off. Doing so has completely addressed my WiFi issues.

Had the same problem, turning this off helped me immensely! Thank youvery much!! :)

Glad that worked for you. Solved my issues on my iPad Air, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 Plus, and my wife's iPhone 6. And that's all while connected to an Apple Time Capsule (latest gen).

You'd think Apple would have tested their products on their own routers... :roll eyes:

I suspect an update before long will solve the issue without having to tinker like this, but for now, at least... we can use the Internets again! :D :D

First I was wondering, "well maybe because I was re-downloading" multiple apps i had on my old phone..just 2 at a time. Done it before on my old "5" and never had a problem. My computer was completely fine though.

The sluggish WiFi was a small blessing though. I saw IOS 8.01 came out and said "forget this, I'll do it later tonight, probably take 90min, 2 hours" That would have p*ssed me off to now end if I downloaded that and had bigger problems - Ok The Health App works..but the health of my phone, cell service just flatlined" :D Their stock prices are taking a hit because of that failed update...the "bends" of the Plus. String of screw-ups since that Keynote.

I'm back in the office that was causing issues and watching as the wifi and LTE keep cycling. Ipad is rock solid next to it on iOS 8.

Wonder if 8.0.2 will fix it or just need a new router.

I am having similar issues - I can barely pick up a signal in the same room as the router, much less anywhere else in my house. Fixing the channel width to 20mhz helped, but sitting my 6 side by side with my 5S, the 6 gets one or two bars and the 5S is full. Both running iOS8.

Just updated the 6 to 8.0.2 and nothing has changed.

I would reboot the router. My wife's iPhone 6 works flawlessly after a reboot from the router. Shut the router down. Wait 40 seconds and turn back on. If this did not work, I would try the 8.0.2 update.

My iPhone 6 on the other hand, will not connect at all. As stated above, Apple is sending me a replacement phone which is due to be in my hands any minute now.

I would try the 8.0.2 update, but since my new phone is almost here and my wife's iPhone 6 on 8.0 is a beast, I decided not to update and wait and see if the new phone fixes my issues.

There's numerous reports of Wifi issues with iOS 8. I've seen them on my iPhone 5s. From my testing, it appears that iOS 8 isn't as good at picking up weaker Wifi signals or ones with interference. My Wifi range dropped significantly with iOS 8 compared to iOS 7.1.2 and Wifi channels that used to work fine (and still do on my iPad 2) are now problematic under iOS 8. Basically Wifi is worse under iOS 8 on virtually all devices. Whether you see a problem or not depends on a number of factors such as neighboring networks, distance, etc.

update to above post.

New phone received. The new phone found all wifi networks and works like a charm. No issues so far from any work 2.4 channels.

I will test the 5ghz channel when I get home and report back.

This new phone is still on iOS 8.0. I will wait a few more days before updating this phone to 8.0.2

The problem is more than what's here

iPhone6+ 128G iOS 8.0.2 (same issue under 8.0.0)

My 2.4GHz G network (WPA2) would work fine for a few hours, then go into disconnect mode. Trying to reconnect it tells me the password is invalid. Every other wireless device connects with that password (cut/paste - no typo). 2.4GHz quits working on the iPhone6+.

I even tried changing the password to '12345678' and everything connected but the iPhone6+.

Interestingly, the 5GHz N network I also have works fine on the iPhone6+. No issues with that one. But my house is running G repeaters, so I really need that band to work. Plus most of the public network will be G. And as I said everything else works but the iPhone6+.

I've reloaded the phone twice (that's another disaster for telling around a campfile.) I've reset the network many times. At certain points in the day, the SSIDs will disappear, then mysteriously reappear later on.

Last night I connected at a friend's house (G). Two hours later I was at the girlfriend's house and it said I was still connected to the WiFi 20 miles away.

I had a talk yesterday with a level-2 tech at Apple. He swore I had my network set up wrong. *sigh* After a quick chat explaining my credentials he's expediting a replacement phone to me for Monday. I'm hoping this fixes the issue. I believe it's hardware, as 8.0.0 works just fine on my iPhone5 and iPad3 (both 8.0.0), but not the iPhone6+.

I'm open for help, this has made the rest of my hair start falling out.

I didn't do a restore, I set up as new phone but I got this issue. It's only happened once, never again though.

I also had to restart.

The wife's i6 has been fine for 24 hrs since changing settings per WilliamG. We are on 2.4 ghz out on the fringe of the network. It's a dual band router but no 5ghs at the distance we are relative to the router. Both of our ipad airs are fine. The phone was replaced on tues or wed, same issue until changed settings.

I'm having the same issue with my iPhone 6. I took it to the Genius Bar the other day where my phone was replaced. Unfortunately, my replacement phone has started doing the same thing. It's very frustrating.

I had this issue yesterday with my 6 Plus. Wifi dropped and I couldn't find any available networks even though I was sitting right next to a wifi router that my Mac was connected to. I had to restart the phone to get wifi again. I don't think this is an isolated issue. I have seen other threads regarding this issue. Probably a software issue. I hope.

Just updated to 8.02 and my Wi-Fi situation has greatly improved.

I had been constantly losing Wi-Fi connection and experiencing slow speeds. So far no loss of connection and maximum data speeds. Hopefully this will continue.

Same problem. Wife and I both just got the iPhone 6 128gb version. Both keep losing wifi at home. iPads w/ ios8 work fine. Old iPhone 4s worked fine. Tried the location service thing but hasn't helped unfortunately. Resetting network settings works but only for a while.

I don't think this is a hardware problem, or if it is, it's a major production flaw. I live in Japan so it would be multiple batches all over the world. Nor can it be purely iOS 8. My guess is it's a problem between the iPhone 6 & iOS 8. Really a bummer though. I know this: if Steve Jobs was still there, heads would be rolling all over the place.

It seems I have the same problem. Wifi broke at some time between me going to bed last night and waking up. There were no networks in range, no matter how close I got to my router, and there are usually five or more available. Was fixed when I restarted the phone. The phone was set up as new and I am using WPA2 for my encryption.

It sounds more like a software problem (or at least something that can be fixed with a software update (hopefully!)).

This is what I'm experiencing. The phone can sleep for a couple of hours and still reconnect, but loses the connection when WiFi is turned off overnight. Only a hard reset will bring it back. Fingers crossed a fix is forthcoming! Running 8.0.2.

So this is a weird one.

Restored from backup and started downloading all my apps. Left the phone in sleep mode and let it go about its business. Then it pops up and says a wifi connection is required.

I went into wifi settings and there were no networks in range (normally there are 8-10) so i turned it off and on again a few times with no joy. Had to restart the whole phone just to make it see WiFi again. I haven't had this on any other iPhone so not sure if it's device/software/something to do with iCloud restore.

Anyone else had a similar issue?
Same here. iPhone 6+ set up as new. Had to hard reset to get wifi working again. Likely just a software glitch.

More testing. It appears that large data transfers are heating up the Wi-Fi chip and causing my issue. I loaded the numbers/pages/keynote apps yesterday at home and lost my G-network. Today at my GF's house it was fine overnight on her G-net until I fired up the same transfer and data eventually fell from 10Mbs to.5 Mbs. And the phone got warm.

That's my debug so far. That is under 8.0.2.

Have a similar issue as well. My plus is running wifi normally like on all my other iphones all day long, then randomly it drops a connection and detects not wifi for a good 5-10 minutes, then goes back to normal. Has happened the last couple days, when it wasn't doing this the first week I've had the phone. Really hope this is a software issue.

This is still proving to be pretty inconclusive. Here's how I see it....

1. This isn't going to turn into wifi-gate or something similar because not that many (or so it seems) users are reporting this issue.

2. The fault is very intermittent. That means it's very hard to tell if an app is causing it, geography, or even if it's hardware or a software problem.

3. Other devices (my iPad 2 for example) are not having this problem at all. However, it seems other device owners such as the 5 and 5s are reporting similar problems.

My biggest problem is whether to take my iphone 6 into the Genius Bar later this week. It is really quite a big trek for me to get to the Apple Store and I'd rather avoid it. There is also the chance the phone gets swapped but the problem remains if it's an ios 8 bug.

The question is, what to do?

What thoughts do you all have in general about this problem?

Had this happen twice on my 6 plus now - WiFi signal dropped at home whilst on the 5G network & searching, no available networks in WiFi list as per screenshot in reply no. 56 (normally at least 8) yet, my old iPhone 4 running on the N network has a full signal. Re-booted phone & problem solved - easy fix but, annoying all the same.

Most recent occasion was this afternoon, at the time, I wasn't using the phone. Picked the phone up & no WiFi, the most recent email update was at 15:20, mobile data was turned off (I always do this at home) & the time was 16:10.

Both occasions have occurred since I upgraded to IOS 8.02. My Wife upgraded to IOS 8.02 within the same hour & thus far, her iPhone 6 plus has not suffered this issue.
