i used an iphone 6 for 10 days and now a plus for 6 days.
I use my phone the same way as you, absolutely no lag on both devices. However i do turn off those motion settings, i have since my iphone 5 and never bothered turning it back on, seems tacky to me.

Feel safe in this regard...

+1

bugs/lag I'm suffering from:

rotation/keyboard lag
phone getting stuck in an orientation and not going back
camera app freezing
general home screen lag from time to time
wifi bugs

probably a few more that I'm forgetting. still loving the phone though.

So I consider myself OCD when it comes to tech stuff I buy for that much money.

When I read this thread, the reports of software lag etc had me concerned. But now that I've got my own 6 plus, it's really not an issue.

It's nothing different to my other idevices. The iPad mini retina for example. I've also got a 6 which I'm planning to return and can't notice a difference between the two.

It's not that there isn't some jitteriness randomly here or there. I'm sure if you looked you might find something as mentioned in this thread.

It's that it's not really noticeable at all. If it is there, it's no *different* or nothing more than what other idevices experience.

If you're planning on a 6 plus, this issue of lag isn't the factor you should be worrying about.

Instead, it comes down to the size, comfort and (in my opinion) it's missing that joyful experience when holding and using.

Did anyone try out the new beta 8.1 on their 6 Plus? How's the performance? Does it remedy the lag issues at all?

iPhone 6+ Lag

Not "joyful"? That's a bummer to hear. Where do you feel it lacks in "joy"?

It's not as pleasurable to use basically. Apple products always bring this joy when you use them. It fits. 'It just works'.

The 6 plus and it's awkward size and the way it's tall and unwieldy detracts from all this.

In my opinion, the 5c is actually an example of a delightful pleasurable design to look at as well as hold.

Now if only they made a 6 with the 5C design...

Had some success in reducing the lag after following a tip from here. Reset all settings, hook to mac/pc, backup to computer, restore in iTunes, then restore from backup in iTunes

So having previously stated that lag isn't a big deal with the 6 plus at all, while I still stand by that, there are one or two moments when it's noticeable.

The reason why I mention this is because I noticed this jitteriness in one of Apple's own apps, which is disappointing.

Try this:

- in iBooks, open a book and use reachability to bring the page down. Notice how there is no lag and it's all buttery smooth as expected.
- now go to the fonts menu (the Aa) sign at the top) and tap it so you can see the options for fonts etc. Now try reachability and, if you're experience is the same as mine, the page will move up and down with noticeable jitteriness.

I've seen this in apps not optimised for the 6 plus, but didn't expect it at all from one of Apple's own major apps. Anyway, that's the only annoying lag I could visibly notice to an extent it bugged me.

I tried your experiment and couldn't get my 6+ to lag at all. I don't have any lag at all doing anything, actually. And please don't show your stupidity by calling me a fanboy.

I'm wondering what the difference could be either in Apps, hardware, our software config. I'll tell you my brief history:

Switched from Android.
Had all iPhones up to and including the 5.
Set up as new phone. I think this is a major issue affecting lots of people transferring all info from their previous iPhone.
Picked and chose what Apps I installed. If it looked wonky I deleted it. But I do have a lot of Apps.
I have no games installed.
I severely limit my background Apps.
I have XLTE activated both voice and data. I'm on Verizon.
My iPhone is week 35 from Foxconn.

There has to be a common denominator to all these issues.

There is some stutter when scrolling. As stated in some of the replies to this behemoth thread, "lag" really isn't the correct description. It's more of a drop in frame rate. I've noticed the same issues with the iPad 4, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and the iPhone 6 Plus, all of which are running iOS 8.0.2.

There have been some reports of iOS 8.1 fixing the stutter, but I am not a registered developer, so I have no way of testing. Nonetheless, I think it's best that everyone noticing any stutter submits a bug report to Apple at bugreport.apple.com.

There are people who notice the lag and stutters, people who notice it but claim to not care, and people who claim to not notice it at all...

I fell into the category where it was obviously noticeable and unacceptable.

As long as you aren't, it's a lot like RAM and screen interlacing: don't go looking for it. It'll drive you nuts once you "find" the lag.

QFT.

I also have an eye for this sort of thing and I'm not really seeing anything different on the 6 Plus than the Six.

I had been seeing "lag" with my 6 plus (even with 8.1 beta 2), but after reading your post I switched off the motion and haven't seen any of the "lag" that I had been seeing other than the spotlight portrait to landscape "issue" which I don't really use so it's not something that will bother me.

So whether or not I get the note 4 or the 6+ apparently I'm going to deal with some lag. Great.

I'm on 8.1 (B2) using a 6+ and I notice lag from time-to-time.

Really don't expect this from apple.

iPhone Lag?

You've got to be kidding, according to hundreds of posts just this year it's Android that gets bashed for lagging... :)

That just provided one more reason for not buying a first generation iP6!

I'll stay with my plan to wait until next year. By the time Apple releases the upcoming iP6S, they'll have it debugged and working like it should. Dropping a thousand dollars on a buggy phone is nothing I'm going to do.

I'll try that next time I am in Apple Store. Under what sub-heading in Settings are they. Just to save me time in Store :)

That thought crossed my mind. But, it still runs better than my S4 even with some custom roms I flash.

I "want" "need" a change--:)

Download kik messenger to see some real lag!

Lag is there on the plus. Not bad most of the time but it is there.
