I played with a friends PLUS for HOURS the other day while going through this thread... I tried NUMEROUS times to get the phone to stutter and was really only successful in doing so with the "Spotlight Trick"...

To me, any stutters are incredibly incredibly overblown. ALSO! Could be the hardware in YOUR phone... OR, maybe an app you've downloaded is causing issues.

From what I can tell, the PLUS runs lightning fast

Again, the Plus runs buttery smooth as any other idevice. When we speak about 'lag' it's by the super high buttery standards we've become used to with iOS. To others it isn't lag at all.

But even by this definition of 'lag' there's very little to talk about anyway, as I've said somewhere above. So yes, definitely overblown. Lag is not the factor to worry about when purchasing the 6, the size is.

----------

Here's one example of 'lag' though. Not sure if it'll work with other phones and is probably down to the third party app anyway:

While I was on the phone with loudspeaker, I switched to instapaper and browsed through an article with images. While browsing, there was a little lag.

But again, these are minor quibbles. Barely noticeable. So few and far between. Not the major concern for most.

But that size is what will bug you when you're thinking of leaving the house to cycle to work without a bag...lifestyle changes is what will bug you about the 6 plus.

I think it's an iOS issue, never had lag on my 5S running iOS 7, I do notice lag sometimes with some apps which is weird seeing that in an apple product.

The reasoning that the 6+ has more lag is because it is pushing a lot more pixels which taxes the GPU more which is most noticeable during animations and transitions.

I'm still optimistic that it is a iOS 8 issue that will be remedied with subsequent updates...much like what happened with iOS 7.

iPhone 6+ Lag

Rotating spotlight between portrait and landscape is smooth for me on 8.1

Forgot to add, this is on 6 Plus.

8.1 has fixed a ton of lag issues on my 4S, anything from you PLUS users?
If anything. 8.1 has made the lag on my 6 Plus WORSE. Before it was every few days when something would lag, and recently I haven't experienced any lag at all. Today, after updating to 8.1, I experienced severe lag in Safari, even with only a single tab open, loading very simple mobile webpages.

Mine is still laggy when rotating in spotlight. I also have lag when replying from the lock screen to an sms. Anyone else?

This is bad news. :(

Is the lag just stutter or is it hanging?

Awhile back, I posted a link to an article on iMore that shows the GFXbench scores for both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (http://m.imore.com/iphone-6-and-iphone-6-plus-benchmarks). This shows that when rendering at on-screen resolution, both phones are approximately equivalent. However, I just retested this, and I'm getting much lower scores. Could this be solely based on iOS 8.1?

think of it as the iPad third generation, it was quickly replaced with the fourth generation which was more powerful for rendering that retina display

iPhone 6S Plus will run much smoother, it'll get more cpu and gpu power and more ram.

True but that is a year away....

yup, iphoe 6 just got out and we're already thinking next haha

TBH, we'll ALWAYS be "thinking next", it's just how our culture works. With this in mind, the major phone carriers "help us out" by allowing (incentivising) us to upgrade every two years. IMHO, there is no possible way that the iPhone 6 PLUS will be unusable in two years. If my 4S can handle 8.1 (begrudgingly) my 6 PLUS will handle (well enough I'm sure) iOSX. At that point, I'll be eligible to upgrade to the 7, but will probably wait the extra year (as I did with my 4S) to get the 7S.

Will the 6S PLUS (or whatever they call it) be better than the 6 PLUS? No doubt. But will the 6 PLUS be leaps and bounds over the 4S, of course.

With this being said, I'm excited for the shipping notification from my Verizon e-Mail to change from "processing" to "shipping".

Okay just got my 6+ yesterday, and I'm definitely seeing it. Placed next to 5s on Wifi mode, Accuweather is lagging bad on 6+, 5s is smooth.

Did 8.1 really make it worse? If so it's definitely software no? I have 7 days to decide if I should return and wait for 6s..

Try turning ON "Reduce Transparency" in Accessibility and also choose "Zoomed" instead of "Standard" in Display setting. You'll notice buttery smooth animations and transitions.

That works, but why do I have to tweak my phone so crazily to get smooth performance?
