Well, I'm using iOS 10 on my iPhone 6 Plus and it looks fine to hold up another year. I don't see any reason to change my iPhone this year based on rumors, there is nothing that I need right now, so I will wait until 2017 to the "all new design iPhone".

I will be upgrading, I'm interested to see what the dual lens camera brings, there are so many possibilities and knowing Apple they will put their own spin on it. The camera upgrades may be the biggest feature of the 7 and 7 Plus, which is not necessarily a bad thing, think about it this way, does a new design help you as much as a better camera? being able to take better photo's is a much better option in my option, especially when there is nothing wrong with the design of the 6s anyway.

If you have the 6, it will be a huge upgrade because you will be getting the 6s features + 7 features :)

Great point, and one of the reasons why I'm planning on upgrading!

Just out of curiosity and excuse me if there is a duplicate thread out there, Those who have the iPhone 6 or 6+ (Not the S model) Will you be getting the new iPhone this September? I purchased a 6+ back in September 2014 and i could really use an upgrade however with all the leaks and stories that are out, I'm starting to question whether if the new device will really be worth it.

Maybe. Depends on what is announced. I don't automatically upgrade just because Apple releases a new iPhone.

I’m actually thinking of getting a + for the first time. What are the complaints about it? I think it would be rather obnoxious making phone calls but then I realized nobody talks on the phone anymore anyway. I’m not really a single hand user as it is so I’m not really turned off by the prospect of having to use two hands most of the time.

I'm hoping they will have a 256 GB model because at some point my 160 GB iPod Classic is going to take a dirt nap and I can use this iPhone as an iPod when I get the next upgrade.

Many of us Gen-x folks still enjoy an actual phone call once in a while.

I'm reserving judgment until the new iPhone is announced, but currently I'm more thinking of moving from my 6 to a 6s Plus... Wanna try the bigger phone but feel the 7 plus will be too expensive for me; plus I really don't wanna lose the headphone jack just yet.

But who knows the 7 might have some hitherto unknown killer feature that may convince me.

No, for the first time since 2011 I have no plans of upgrading. Two reasons:

1. The iPhone 6 is the greatest consumer electronic product ever created, it's no surprise that it still works flawlessly and the follow-up is lackluster.

2. My carrier (AT&T) no longer offers me a subsidized 64GB phone for $399, it now costs $800 which tips my scales of financial downside vs. technological/design upside the wrong way.

I'm trying to slowly extricate myself from the Apple ecosystem for the following reasons:
  • It's expensive (the Ol' Apple Tax)
  • I want more choice in hardware spec's
  • Apple can be capricious in product development ("Hey! Let's ditch the headphone jack / pci slots / DIY upgrades!") - My work demands something a bit more predictable and flexible.
YMMV, of course, but this is my viewpoint.

I'm thinking when it comes time for a new phone, I'll give serious consideration to Samsung.

It's commendable that you're considering Android.

They have some great phones both at the premium end as well as one step below ($400-$600). Certainly worth a serious look.

Yea I hope everyone has their replacement excuses lined up for your launch 6s, warranty is up soon

There is probably one group of ip6 users who will likely buy the ip7...the ones who bought the 6/6+ 16gb base.

That's not to say 100% will upgrade...but those users are behind the 8-ball (more than any other group). Provided the 3.5" jack removal isn't a problem.

Course, the smart money might be on getting a 6s...but the allure of the ip7 is strong (for some).

Those in the iPhone 6 cycle (raises hand) are facing the loss of carrier subsidies and an iPhone that will cost 2x what we are used to paying for it. We're not behind the 8 ball; we early adopters in 2014 simply need to stay put with our iPhone 6 hardware which will last another 2 years easily and cost us $0. And as an added bonus we get to wait out the Lightning headphone situation and keep the headphone jack until the dust settles there.

Perhaps I need to reword my post.

What I'm saying is -if- there are ip6 owners who are seriously contemplating the ip7, chances are they fall into one or both of the following groups:

- are chafing because of the 1gb ram

- have the 16gb base

Of course, owners can elect to stand pat like you. some may just get a 6s/6s+ instead. Others may wait for the 2017 10th anniversary phone.

I didn't need an excuse. It would freeze up from time to time and the backlight was messed up. Top left corner would turn dark at random.

As I mentioned in another thread, unless I am blown away by the features of the new iPhone 7, I am sticking with my 6.

It continues to work flawlessly for me. I think it has locked/frozen up maybe one time in the almost 2 years I've owned it (which is a heck of a lot better than the last Android phone I came from). Still have plenty of room on my iPhone (I got the 64gb version). And it does everything I need it to do. I basically couldn't be happier with it.

So I am most likely staying put. At least for one more year.

I know I'm messing around I've just heard of people purposely hold out until the last few days to try for a swap so they have a mint device for resale

My 6 has some issues so I'm planning to get a new phone. If the 7 is essentially 6s with a scaled up cpu and no headphone jack I'll be looking for a deal on a 6s.

My 6 Plus has a weird issue with the AF (it ticks and won't focus) so I'm tempted on one side. On the other, I really don't want to buy the same phone again. I just can't justify spending another 1000 euros on essentially the same design.

If you get the 7 Plus, you will be getting the dual lens camera which will be a big upgrade to the camera! We will have to see what Apple do with it when they announce the phone next month, but they do hold a couple of very interesting patents and brought a company that deals with such features. Also there is rumoured to be a new space black option, and the home button is rumoured to be 3D Touch instead of a clickable one. The design won't be exactly the same because the antenna lines have been repositioned, obviously this is all rumour until Apple announces next month.
