Again, couldn't this just be a temporary situation until the apps are optimized for the + ?

I truly doubt it at this point. The issues are not localized to 3rd party apps. Actually, most of the testing and lag seems to be within the native iOS apps and system. Also, the iPhone 6 running iOS 8 is much smoother, the iPhone 5s running iOS 8 is much smoother. The iPad Air 2 running iOS 8 is much smoother. I would think that if it wasn't a hardware issue, it would have been worked out with one of the subsequent 3 updates, especially iOS 8.1. Though honestly, I don't even think that the phone would be released with lag if it wasn't there for good, to an extent. The only other such situation where an idevice was released with considerable lag is the iPad 3, which ultimately was a hardware issue and was discontinued 6-7 months later

I had some incredibly annoying lag once I updated my iPhone 6 plus to iOS 8.1. It got to the point where I turned off transparency and animations (by turning on reduce motion). I had done restore from new and DFU restore from new and nothing changed so I finally went in to an Apple Store. They swapped it out and the device I recieved (DFU restored 8.1 and set up as new) doesn't show any of the lag that I had been experiencing. I'm not going to tell everyone with lag to do this, but it is a viable option. It's possible if you recieved one of that first devices on launch day, that the quality control during the initial roll out wasn't as good (similar to scuff-gate during the 5 release).

It's worth a shot.

I find it pretty hard to believe that there are some defective laggy phones mixed in amongst the good ones, but I also don't see anything like what some people are describing on my own phone. Honestly, with the exception of the occasional odd problem that seems to be caused by iOS 8, I really don't have any complaints about my phone's performance, and I'm not doing anything special except turning on "reduce motion" as I mentioned above. I did set it up as a new phone instead of restoring from a backup, if that means anything.

Another thing that is glaringly obvious is when you open something (say, the App Store) and then close it, then double click on the multitask window to open it again, it takes a few moments to load up. On the iPhone 5s that I have right here, it opens up instantaneously

Can't say I see that either. What capacity is your phone?

And to complicate it further, windows that were previously opened DO open quicker in zoom mode. It's a 64GB. Honestly, I'm sure at least some of it will be fixed in an iOS update. Much of it, though, I'm sure has to do with the phone's limitations

I'm really struggling to replicate any of the problems people are talking about here. That's not to say that I don't believe you. But if it were a hardware problem, it would affect all of the phones, wouldn't it?

I would think so. But actually, it's also different people's opinions of the same occurrences. I'm curious to know if many of the people saying there is no lag have a previous Iphone to compare it to? I literally have an iPhone 5s (with iOS 8) and an iPhone 5 (with iOS 7) right here and both are much snappier than the 6 plus in virtually all aspects. I've spoken to someone else that had a 6 plus and said he had no lag at all. I checked it out and his ran just as mine does.....with a bit of lag and slower than the previous generation iPhones

I have compared with an iPhone 6, and the stutter is present on both devices. I'd like to check out a few more apps (Evernote, Alien Blue, etc.), but I don't have an iPhone 6 readily available. The aforementioned apps have a little bit of stutter when scrolling slowly through long lists.

It's definitely nothing extremely slow that takes away the full user experience. However, an older device running the new, updated iOS just simply should not run faster than a brand new device that was released with that same OS

I think my 6+ runs pretty smooth. I occasionally get a stutter but overall in daily use, it's snappy. Not seeing anything substantially worse in performance vs the regular 6 I had before it.

For the record, I don't game on my phone. I think iOS games suck and the touchscreen controllers suck even more.

Yes, is always difficult to know of people are just perceiving the same thing differently. Maybe this is where making a video might be useful.

For what it's worth, I came from an iPhone 5 running iOS 7 and then 8 (for a matter of weeks) and while I never really used it side-by-side with the Plus for any length of time, I don't feel that there is a major difference.

Show us. I want everyone to demonstrate what they say. I want to see both phones side by side on a comparison. I'm going to post a video of a 6 next to a 6 Plus and a 5S if I can today and take some slo mo video to capture this.

Did you get around to posting this vid btw?

I have to say that I am not seeing any of these issue either. A little bit of lag here and there maybe but nothing severe at all. Guess I am lucky.

If you're seeing a bit of lag here and there, wouldn't that mean there is a lag, but that it doesn't bother you? I think that's the situation for some people here as well..

My point is it is the same lag that I have seen in every early build of ios. Nothing hardware specific for me that I can see. Honestly not enough to be called an issue IMHO. Maybe not the same for others I am sure.

I've been using my Verizon 128GB iPhone 6 Plus for 3 days so far and there is absolutely no lag at all with it. I love the 6 Plus and wish I had ordered it sooner.

They exchanged a new device for you based on lag? This gives me hope, as the lag is the only thing keeping me from keeping it. What you're saying sounds reasonable, as so many others are also not experiencing lag.

I call b.s on that theory. If true, he can post a side by side video comparison that shows a difference when they both have the same content loaded.

its true though. Turn off transparency then switch display from Standard to Zoomed and youll notice how fluid your Plus transitions with small animations such as the notification shade and control center. My notification shade actually has a nice bounce when i pull it down like my 5 has.

That doesn't prove what fiveainone was saying about it being related to manufacturing QC.

yeah i dont believe its QC issues either but more of that fact that the Plus needs beefier specs. It only has 976 MB of RAM and the phone eats up memory no matter the app (even stock apps) which leads to low memory issues and crashes.
