I assumed that what "usage" signified..hmmm, I could def be wrong

No. The iPhones report usage as anytime the phone is doing anything other than sitting perfectly idle. So when its checking emails or anything in the background that is "usage" time also.

My 6+ is down to 1% at bedtime tonight, after the 6+ spent over 16 hours unplugged with over 9 hours of usage. It's new, so I only have the 1st 24 hours of statistics, and I ran it down till it shut off so that the battery could calibrate properly.

I didn't even touch my iPad mini retina today, and used the 6+ for most things that I'd normally do with the iPad - I did most of my web surfing, emails, texts and shopping for my daughter's new Macbook Pro with the 6+, as well as all my phone calls. I put my primary phone number SIM into the 6+, with my iPad mini SIM in the 6 (upgraded shared data plan from iPad to iPhone for now).

I used my older iPhone 6 for FaceTime calls and iMessage with my daughter while using the 6+ on the web as a tablet to buy her Macbook Pro. I also used the 6 to take notes during some phone calls that I made with the 6+. But I didn't make any calls or surf the web with the iPhone 6.

So, with the easier workload the iPhone 6 went a little over 4 hours of use during that same 16+ hour period with 57% left. However, my son got 9 hours of use over a 23 hour period with his iPhone 6 as his primary device, with 3% left.

Todays test was to see if I can get by with the 6+ as my one and only device, but when you can't use the speaker phone in public it really helps to have 2 devices, if you forget your headset.

I'm thinking I'll switch things around, and use the smaller 6 as my primary phone and messaging device (easier 1 handed use) and the 6+ can be used as my tablet/secondary device. That way my son can use my iPad mini retina. I think the 6+ could have given me another hour surfing the web if I hadn't used the phone, and another hour if I had deleted the Tile app and not used Siri. That would bring it closer to what I get out of the iPad mini Retina, or it would have left me with 20% by the end of the 16 hour day.

Note - the Tile app is having trouble locating my Tiles with the iPhone 6 and 6+, and it's a known problem with iOS 8.0 - 8.0.2; so I wasted battery life today for nothing since the iOS 8.1 update that fixes things isn't out yet.

This is I think my first cycle after turning push email and notifications back on. Kept usage the same as when it was off. Got roughly and hour less this go around compared to when everything was off, don't think I changed how I used the phone either. This is way better than the first week I had the phone when I was getting 7-8 hours. Only difference was I lowered the brightness from 80% to around 40%. Couldn't be more happy with the battery on this phone

Watched a 45 minute TV show episode over Netflix yesterday on LTE with 4 bar signal, background refresh on for 7-8 apps, BT and WiFi enabled, auto brightness on set to 45-50%, and headphones and after the episode was done I had lost 8%. That is impressive; my 5S would have gone down by about 22-25%. Did the same test with my 6 today and it went down 14% in 45 minutes, which is still fairly impressive.

My battery life has been fantastic - until today that is. 100% Battery when I went to work this morning, left my phone in my locker & didn't use it all day (other than turning the alarm clock off when it awoke me & turning the Wi-Fi off prior to leaving home). Switched it on at the end of my 12 hour shift & the battery was down to 68%. :( Safari had managed to account for 90% of the usage!

I will charge it again overnight, leave it in the same place tomorrow & see what happens.

Yep, you guys called it. Exactly 10 hours of usage over 1 day.

I was using an iPhone 5 that was purchased 2 years ago. Usage on this has obviously been a bit more heavy since its new and I'm putting it through it's paces. But it's only marginally better than the ip5. And by marginally probably about a 5% difference at this time of night.

I am getting about 1 day, 18 hours stands with 8 hours usage. I've turned off a lot of useless features that I think save battery.

Mine. Location services for everything but Swarm off. Push email and iCloud off. Low brighteness. Turned all non necessary push notifications off.

This was while app refresh was turned on and while on wifi for most of the time. I'm impressed indeed.

Well, actually I did put this giant piece of "toast" up to my ear, and I even posted this > "I also used the 6 to take notes during some phone calls that I made with the 6+" :p

My main thing is that I often need to use two devices simultaneously, where I may be holding the phone to my ear with one device, and using the other device for taking notes or surfing the web, or to get info from contacts and pdf files, etc. It makes more sense to have the 6 on my ear and the 6+ being used as an iPad.

This also helps me spread out my battery usage, because otherwise I can drain any iPhone by 5-6PM and I want it to last until 2-3AM.

well, i don't have a screen shot, but 10 hours of usage is what i am getting. That is extremely impressive considering i am coming from a samsung galaxy s3 with rouge apps killing the battery.

with that said, i am a very happy customer. this phone is amazing.

I still don't understand why you need to phones. .9 of an inch doesn't make the phone thattttt much bigger to compare it to an iPad that is 8" or 10". Do you need to always be doing something for work or something? I've never had to use two phones at once.

Wow that's amazing considering you used Vine most of the time

Wow some of the best Plus battery stats I've seen, I' get nowhere near that.

Nothing special regarding set up. Just a few tweaks. 2 email accounts set on fetch every 15 minutes, some browsing, iMessage and WhatsApp, Twitter, about an hour of listening to podcasts.

With the exact same usage my 5S would long be out of juice.
