riiiight

I think half of the Plus sales have been to all the bloggers, website owners and journalists wanting to do their own "exclusive" bendgate features. I do wonder where half the article writers are actually managing to get their Plusses from.

because there are millions of 'bloggers' and journalists to whom Apple is sending iPhone 6+ devices...not

I'm surprised. From what I remember, there was some web usage statistic that showed the iPhone 6 showed up FAR more than the 6+. I got the 6+ myself last week (from an online pre-order), used it for 2 days and decided it was too much, so I returned it and got a 6 in the store. MUCH happier even in spite of shorter battery life, no OIS, and lower pixel density (which I haven't noticed at all).

There's got to be some philosophical way of explaining why customers blindly follow the "bigger is better" mentality. I'd bet even if the iPhone 6+ had a crazy 8 inch screen that sales would yield the same results because the 4.7 inch screen is automatically "inferior."

Maybe the reason is that some people like larger screens, just as some people like smaller screens. It suits their usage needs better and just because it is not what you like doesn't make other peoples choice the result of blindly following something.

Maybe get over yourself and stop being so ignorant.

Can skip carrying an iPad now, so far the 6+ has been better for reading and responding to email, texts, and I can even do some remote work with it in a pinch...the only reason I carried the iPad. I also don't need to carry extra battery packs, cables, etc. To each their own- I get the one handed thing, and the size thing...however so far the benefits of a larger device outweigh the negatives IMO.

Use this for a couple weeks, then go pick up your old 4 or 5s....the meaning becomes much clearer. Not a kid anymore...and my eyes thank me every time I pick it up. Not worried about bendgate, but am about overall durability. Kept all my devices in a semi-rugged case....the 6+ will be no different.

This is such a dumb analysis and conclusion.

Demand for the Plus was clearly underestimated by Apple, the product forecasting team got it wrong, so bigger orders for parts now just means they are playing catchup with demand.

I work for a Telco, pre orders were 60% for the Plus. I agree they underestimated, plus there was a parts supply issue for the Plus, screen I think that exacerbated the issue

Thats insane. I skipped upgrading this gen, for the first time ever, due to both models being to large. Im amazed it sells so well, but also sad, because I guess this may be the end for the smaller models. Id prefer 4" and even 3,5" over these.

Try actually holding a 6. It really isnt that large.

You won't... Apple doesn't break down sales by model... the most we will get is people asking when they will reach supply demand balance. I doubt Tim will say anything.

But... this is the first time Apple has offered two sizes... today's "normal" and an even bigger "gigantic" :)

Tim might wanna say something about how well the iPhone 6 Plus is selling... to alleviate any fears that they made a bad decision in releasing a giant phone.

Why are they "blindly" following?

I'm getting one because I want a bigger screen as I use it more as a computer than a phone, the battery life is much better, and the camera is superior.

Just because you cannot immediately understand why someone does something, dont make up stupid reasons such as "blindly following".

What does it matter anyway? Does everything have to be taken so literally. Anyone who has been on these forums long enough know how 3.5" was the perfect size for a screen and how many people would laugh at or refuse to hold a "tablet" up to their ears (you can find plenty google images of things like that) mocking larger screens. Then when Apple switched to 4" - that was the "perfect" size. Don't dare go bigger Apple! So now we have 4.7 and 5.5 - and because it's Apple and because it's iOS - it's a gorgeous phone.

Are the same people who mocked the larger screens the ones now embracing them. Maybe - because times DO change. But even if they aren't - I believe you, I and others are commenting on the overall "sentiment" not on an individual.
Problem is, everyone believed Steves BS and mocked everyone else, but like you say, now that Apples doing it, everything is fine.

I personally think 4,7" is the sweetspot (I currently own both 4" iPhone 5s and 5" Nexus 5, love both, but think iPhone is a bit too small and Nexus a little bit too large/wide).

I don't understand this. The Nexus 5 and iPhone 6 are almost exactly the same size, the N5 just has less bezel and more display.

When the iPhone came out, people thought it had a huge screen. Since then, we've come to use our phones for so much more than just talking that it makes sense for the screen to be bigger. Times change. And no, I don't think "everyone" made fun of larger phones -- lots of people wanted one but didn't want to leave iOS, and many more eventually did leave (but are now returning).

If Android got a pass for borrowing the entire concept of the touch screen-based smartphone, I think Apple can be excused for being a bit late to the phablet party.

I myself thought 5.5 was way to big, but I couldn't resist trying it.

I preordered the 6+ and figured if I don't like it I'll bring it back for the 4.7. I received it on release day and I can't believe how nice it is! I really didn't think I would like it as much as I do!

It has not bent, I carry in my RT front pocket without incident. Yesterday was the day it was put to test in my front pocket, I was bending down to squat and it felt like I put a dull knife into my upper thigh/hip! I happy to say it DID NOT BEND! I

The easiest way to get it to bend is to start an online tech blog. Those seem to make them bend for no reason. ;)

Does Apple get a pass for having a touch screen based smartphone too?

I don't understand what you mean. My point is that Android fans are crowing about Apple copying Android's larger screens, but Android itself was definitely "inspired" by the iPhone so I'm not sure they can claim the moral high ground here.

What exactly is your personal consequence for all this "issue"? "All apple fans are idiots" , or to say it in iGripScruffs words "Apple fans are flip floppers"? Any suggestions?

"Problem" - you're ****ing hilarious.

That said - I absolutely hope Apple in the future releases 4" "iPhone mini" for those, who will never want a large phone.

I agree with you 100%. I am still using my iPhone 5s as I wait for the release of the Evutec SP case for the iPhone 6 before I consider an upgrade, plus I'm waiting to see how this "bendgate" thing flushes out.

If there was an iPhone 6 (with all the cool internal upgrades) in a slightly smaller form factor, closer to the iPhone 5, it would be perfect for my needs.

I thought there was a decent possibility apple would introduce an updated 4" phone next year and continue to do so on a two year cycle. This news, if true, makes me more skeptical of that happening.

You mean Apple got a pass for borrowing the entire concept of the screen touched smartphone and also the tablet. That's okay it makes Apple look better. I still remember the constant poking fun at Phablets by all the major websites.

Love the 6 plus, love the leather case and love the top and bottom bezels as the make it easy to hold whilst not obscuring the display.

Yeah as someone who uses devices primarily in portrait mode, the bezels are great for holding the device without obstructing the screen and sending false touch feedback.

I like flip floppers.
