Might be the reason why they're selling so many 6+: replacement after bending...What about the catastrophic bending design flaw though?

Many people don't like to admit they are wrong and to an extent with the screen size issue, the market and further development of technology is the reason these opinions changed. The development of the iPhone and phones in general into a huge gaming platform has changed people's mind, as well as other app development making people realize that a bigger screen can be helpful.

Not sure but who knew Apple made tablets a real thingOr they are new customers that were looking for a big iPhone...
When I was at the ATT store a week ago picking up the 6 for my wife, I personally watched two Android users make the switch to iPhone. I would bet that a fair number of 6+ sales are going to now former Android users.
I have the 6+ and love the screen size, but it is unwieldy to use one handed. I had to get it for work, as we needed both sizes for product development, but I think I would prefer to use the 6 for everyday use.
Maybe I will get used to it and figure out better or different ways to work with it. It's already changed my iPad Air usage for work, as I don't need to pull out the iPad to show clients pictures, as the 6+ has gotten the job done.
i wonder what percentage of that 60% are first-time iPhone users who only like phablets, or were switching back after having used another brand specifically for a larger screen. in addition, i'd imagine some people who never wanted a larger iPhone but do want an iPad mini just compromised and went for the new 'tweener' (6+)
i could see this number being fairly accurate now, but eventually the 6 will catch up or surpass it. especially for next year when the 6S gets all the cameras goodness of this year's 6+. that's the only reason i didn't upgrade, personally.
When the iPhone was originally launched (and this is what a lot of people are conveniently forgetting), the screen size was larger than most of the other smartphones on the market by a wide margin due to eliminating the physical keyboard. The idea that Apple didn't understand the advantage of larger screens for phones has never made much sense. I think the main issue for Apple was the mass production of those larger screens and how you supported the processing requirements to drive the high density resolutions. The A8 was probably the first SoC that Apple felt had the appropriate horsepower for something like the 6 Plus.

This is such a dumb analysis and conclusion.
Demand for the Plus was clearly underestimated by Apple, the product forecasting team got it wrong, so bigger orders for parts now just means they are playing catchup with demand.
Agree with what you said. People are dumb to leave a phone this large in their front pocket as you described. But people will do that...its just human nature.People who have their iPhones bend during "normal" use are just F --- ing stupid. Let me say it again: they are idiots.
Why? Because I've had taken my 6+ to work with me twice: once wearing khakis/Dockers, once wearing jeans. I can sit comfortably in my desk chair with the 6+ in the front pocket of either pair of pants and guess what?
NO. BENDS.
The only way that people are bending phones is 1) carrying the 6/6+ in a back pocket and sitting on it, or 2) carrying the phone in a front pocket and allowing the phone to be perpendicular to their femur, then sitting. In either case, this is user error. And the solution is pretty damn simple: for scenario 1, don't sit on your phone. In scenario 2, turn the phone 90 degrees so it's parallel to the femur.
Yes, it's that simple. Yes, people are that stupid.
Well I had the iPhone 6 plus and switched to the iPhone 6 and im happy as can be.
While the iPhone 6 plus screen was amazing, the size of the phone was a lil overkill for me.
The iPhone 6 is the perfect size. Makes my old 5S look tiny.
It bent just by taking it in the front pocket. Very credible explanation. Especially a good explanation to give to the Apple store to have it replaced for free, because if he said that he sat on it, they could have said something different....
Very important wording
Seems people think bigger is better![]()
