I can tell you from that past two years of owning 5.5" and up phones (Samsungs and now HTC one max), you ain't pulling luggage in an airport and texting with one hand at a the same time!

Been there, done that! I don't mind, because I don't text very much, and the screen size is what I really like, but that's when I really notice it's VERY hard to do. BTW.... I have large hands and it's still very tough.

Is it impossible? No. You just teeter on possibly dropping the phone at any time. And in the airport is where I really notice it because of the need to use the phone and usually being in a rush.

I can tell you now, there are going to be ALOT of dropped iPhone stories!

I'm also going with the iPhone 6 Plus, which I swore I wouldn't, over the iPhone 6. The extra features and battery life pushed me over the edge. I also am selling my iPod Touch 5 64GB so that I can get the larger capacity phone.

To each his own. I've been waiting a long time for a big iphone. I'm a woman and I say bigger is better. :p

I put my 4s on the measured diagonal 4.7 paper it was not big enough for me to get all excited about. The 5.5 paper cutout was significant. I've waited 2 years for a big iPhone so I'm excited about the 5.5.

if I don't like it I will return or sell it. I have 30 days on the t-mobile non contract iPhone from Apple store. Getting big gold 64MB.

LMAO! Oh my, this cracked me up. Well played.

It seems they would have tested it in pockets before they released it. So maybe it's not that big. My guy friend is 6"4 has a Galaxy S5 which I think is fatter. It fits in his pockets.

I'm 6'3"/200 lbs/ big hands, but I'm far from sold on 5.5". The iPad mini fits in my pocket too, but that doesn't make it comfy.

Well, there's not enough room in either front pocket for the plus, because of...well...um...you know...

So it wound end of in the back pocket, which is where my current 5s spends most of it's time. Being a human being, I naturally on occasion forget it's there and end up sitting down on it. The 5s has held up well, but I'd be worried about breaking the plus, or flexing it to the point where the glad breaks.

Thoughts?

You need to get that abnormal growth seen to so you can put your phone in your front pocket again.

This is why places, at least the Apple Stores, should already have display models out. People should be given an opportunity to judge the phone in-hand before ordering one.

I live in a major city with Apple stores all around, so I didn't pre-order last year figuring that I'd find the stock I wanted at one place or another. On actual launch day I stopped by the Apple Store to see what the gold and silver and grey iPhones actually looked like and felt like. That was 9/20/13; I coudln't get my hands on a phone until 9/23/13 but that was a relatively short amount of time thankfully.

Hands-on it actually almost convinced me to go gold, along with all the hype; but I stuck to my gut instinct with silver as I had decided already.

This year, the size is definitely the unknown variable.

Are you sure these are actually the correct measurements? I printed these out and measured the 6+ and the dimensions came out to:

152mm Long
72mm wide

Reported measurements were:
158mm long
78mm wide

Not much of a difference but still a difference. Am I missing something?
I think the measurements are off a bit. I printed and cut them out and the iPhone 5 cutout is smaller than the actual iPhone 5. Perhaps it has something to do with the way I'm printing the page?

I printed them as actual and not to fit the page and they are still off a bit. Not really a big deal but they are off by a few mm.

I do want to go with the 6+ but would love to see someone put it in and take it out of a pocket. I normally wear dress slacks, dickies shorts and pants all with larger pockets so it shouldn't be an issue but I'm still unsure.

Too big for me I need a phone. and put it in my front pocket.
I like the iPhone 6+ but not as a phone maybe as a small iPad mini

It also has optical image stabilization which is so much better in lowlight photos and videos.

OIS is really only useful for longer zoom ranges, not the wide angle on the iPhone. It might improve clarity a little in somewhat dark environments, but in actual low light, camera shake isn't the issue with the iPhone.... Noise is. And that requires more than OIS. ie, larger sensor.

Having said that, would still have been nice to have on the 4.7.

I made a mock up of all the competing models to give myself and all of you an idea of how big the new iphones are. I'm going space grey black iphone 6 plus 64gb! Hope this helps!

Are we complaining already? That's why you've got a 6 and a Plus!
Go down to the store and try both out when they get released.

I agree with Lloydbm41, are you sure you cut them right? I printed it out and compared to my iPhone 5S, it's much bigger. I think you're looking at the 5.5 and you just feel like the 4.7 is not really that big, but compared to the 5S, it is.

That depends. If you compare the bare iPhone, yes, but I have been using an Otterbox case on my iPhone 5 for 2 years now, and the iPhone 6+ is 2cm longer and 1cm wider than what I have now. It just means I have to consider a more minimalistic case if I want to fit it in a pocket :D

Otterbox cases are very bulky. I've been using my 5S without a case on.

I've been using Note 2/3 the past couple years waiting for Apple to catch up, now I can pick up a 6plus. I love the larger size, very quickly it feels like the normal size and all other phones feel small.

there is a small but growing number of people who like phablets - the plus caters for these people

for the rest we have a larger 6.

I think the lines look a little clumsy but i'm a fan and i'm going for the 5.5" this time. Might as well make a giant leap!

True, a lot are acting like the 6 Plus is THE iPhone 6.

You'll be fine. I have a Lumia 1520 (6 inch phone) and it fits into my regular jeans just fine. The size is also perfect for browsing and becomes really easy to hold after a week. If you make your decision based on 5 minutes you spend in a store with a big phone, you are doing it wrong because you won't like it. Buy it and give it a week, I guarantee you will love bigger screen.

Have read a few hands on reviews saying there is no noticeable difference, based on the distance you're looking at each one

From the 2 min they had to use it? Those are not reviews but rather rushed first hand impressions. They didn't pull up high resolution pictures or watch HD videos did they?

The fact is that the 6+ has a 1080p display and the 6 does not. Whether or not a user can tell the difference depends on the user and source content being viewed.

My original main concern was whether the larger iPhone 6 Plus would fit in my pocket. Second to that was my concern about singled-hand use. After some nerdery involving printing out templates and cutting up cardboard I can tell that my second concern is moot as single-hand use with either the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus is not likely, or at least not very comfortable. I'm a pretty big guy with big hands and I basically have to shift the iPhone 6 in my hand to reach the top of the screen. First world problems, right? I'm just saying that after having every iPhone since the original that will take some getting used to. Anyway, my point is for anyone worried about using one hand on the 6 versus two hands on the 6 Plus: you probably are going to need two hands for either of them. As for fitting in pockets, that seems like something I can get used to.

I'd all but settled on the 4.7 incher til I tried out that overlay picture. Pinch-to-zoomed it on the iPad so the 5s matched my current, then folded up an old bank statement into an origami iP6+.... feels perfect.

Reaching the top would be a slight issue but Apple even thought of that too.

Big phone coming up.
