4.8 in display will satisfy me.
Me too - the screen on my old HTC One was slightly larger than the 5s (4.3? 4.7?) I currently own, and I somewhat miss the real estate for mail, documents and Web browsing.

But the One was also just borderline on being too big to discretely slip into a purse, pocket or other non-bag item for travel, client visits, etc.

Very, very happy with the 5s, and if the slightly larger form-factor is launched with the 6, then my likely next move will be to jump on the theoretical 6s when it is released.

BTW… I think a KILLER thing for Apple to do would be to put a phone chip in the iPad line and figure out a way you can have transferable activation… what I mean is allow me to have two devices… same number and allow me to choose which is active… my iPhone or iPad.

This I think would be killer.

bah, i wanted bigger

An iPad mini comes to mind for you.

I hope they also keep a smaller from factor, I hate these big things. If I want an iPad I sue that and not a phone which is too big or an iPad that is too small...

----------

I'm fine with not having a removable battery, but its not good for the consumer

Didn't we have that discussion already with the original iPhone...?

I agree. I just switched to a nexus 5. Loving it, (the issues I had with android before have been solved, and it's a really solid device). I can't go back to a 4" screen, honestly been thinking about going bigger to the note 3 hahah

I have a Note I and it's not really comfortable to keep inside my jeans pocket, but I'm usually carrying a wallet with my Macbook, so I keep the phone there. Also, I don't like frying my balls when radio turns on when it's updating notifications or just looking for nearby towers.

Also, at winter or in colder countries this is a no-issue. If I can live with a Note in Brazil, I presume it's a no-issue worldwide.

As you get older, like me, the desire to do many of the things I once did on an iphone decreases. The screen is too small.

The only thing I want an iphone for is calling people (using my synced contacts), camera and a flashlight. All other apps are better suited mirroring on my car navigation screen or an iPad (pick a size).

So, I need a small, durable flip phone with my contacts that works well with an iPad.

I have no need for a "larger" iphone because it would still be smaller then the iPad mini.

What about email? It might be "better suited" on an iPad, but definitely not more covenient when on the go.

I hope that they do something more innovative than increasing the screen size. Seriously, at some point you can simply add the phone app to the iPad mini and call it day. I actually would love to see that happen for those that screen for size. Hell give them the phone app on the iPad air.

But for someone who carries the iPhone in their back pocket or in the inside pocket of their jacket, keep a smaller form factor is important. As many have already stated, using the same form factor and getting rid of the bezel give you screen size growth without encroaching on the iPad mini size phone.

how many "analysts" have made predictions in the past and been correct?
I'd love to get paid for making stuff up and telling the world about it

Thank god, my hands have been growing uncontrollably. It's time for a bigger phone. /s

In all honesty, I'll just try and see how it fits. My wife already complains from the 4s to the 5s that she can't reach the top left corner easily anymore. And that's where a lot of apps' back button is. On Android, with a hardware back button, it makes more sense.

It shouldn't make a difference where the back button is because her thumb still needs to reach all four corners of the display plus any hard buttons in order to use the phone effectively with one hand. If your wife is struggling with the 5S, she'll struggle more with a larger display, period.

She should try iOS 7's awesome swipe feature to go back instead of using the back button. For example, in Safari, you can swipe the screen from left to right to go back to the last page. It works across iOS 7 apps and is being adopted more and more by 3rd party apps.

killer and $25 extra on top of your plan for the privilege.

After using a Galaxy Note or S4 you'll never get back to a smaller screen. It's very comfortable for typing and reading.

To each his own. I went from an iPhone4 to an iPhone5S and I want to go back to the smaller of the two. I went from never having to change my grip to constantly having to change my grip. Also when I have it in a back pocket of jeans it wants to lever itself out.

Really Apple just needs two sizes.

RIP reasonable screen sizes.

I wouldn't be surprised if they keep both form factors for a time being. Until the smaller or larger one for that matter stops selling or is selling at such a slow pace it makes sense for them to dump it.

I am looking forward to a larger size iPhone. I am also looking forward for more forward thinking software and integration with the way I do things on my phone. Almost to the point of learning what you do based on your past actions if you will.

These forums are insightful, but also hilarious. Today, now that the specs are 'locked in', this is the highest rated comment so far:

4.8 in display will satisfy me.

Back in June 2013, when it was reported that Apple was 'considering' a 4.7" display, this was the highest rated comment (currently rated 6X higher than the above comment):

4,7" is too big already, 5,7" is ridiculous for a phone.

So, a 4.7" screen size was too large. But, when it became clear Apple has made its final decision to increase to 4.8"...

Soon even men who have these large screen phones will be carrying them in a under the arm purse but I'm sure it will be called a mini satchel or something. :D

As an owner of a Note 3 I can assure you not only are these not needed, but they fit in my jeans/jacket pockets just fine.

Too big, I don't like it.

I like the Apple that just did things and released awesome products. When we know what's coming 9 months ahead of time it gives us time to not like something that hasn't even been released.

4" and 4.8" iphone 6. I am about 99% certain they will never get rid of 4". There are people who want the smaller device, and people who want the larger device, with the former making up the vast majority of those. Similar to how the iPad Mini with Retain and iPad Air have the exact same internals, the iPhone 6 4" and 4.8-5" will have identical internals, the only difference will be physical device size.

I'm sure that it will be 4" model. I just want it to be 5S (maybe in plastic renamed to 6C). I want to see reaction of people which were saying that 4" should be the only option. I wanna see them crying ;)

I'm not sure why anyone, including Apple, would make this any more difficult than it needs to be. Make TWO phones, maybe a 4" and 4.8". Make them internally the same but use the added space in the larger phone for a larger battery. Problem solved.

Same stuff, different year. One of these years it will pan out. Apple will have to give in on this one, just as they have once already. Until then I'll get my hopes up every time I see these unfounded rumors.

I sincerely hope that they have multiple size options rather than just releasing one large iPhone 6. My wife and I were talking about this yesterday. I think her opinion echoes that of a lot of users. They just don't want to haul around a larger device.

It's the opposite for me and mine; bigger is better. I carry an S4, the wife begged me for a Note 3 (replacing both her 4s and her iPad). We couldn't be happier.

But I do agree that many users want a smaller device.

The whole, one-size-fits-all paradigm is a bad idea. Period.

Apple needs to quit f'in around and release the iPhone in multiple sizes, just like every other computing device they make.
