I have to say this again every year. The only reason they keep on breaking the record is they keep adding countries every year. It's all about the papers and Cook is the real opportunistic here. Get all the attention from the media and Apple will be all over the news for a couple days. I can walk to Apple Store today to get an iPhone 6s no problem except for the rose gold.

And Samsung that sells in even more countries than Apple with their cheap phones is not? Yet they can't beat the genius of Apple by selling their iPhones in phases year by year, country by country, instead of throwing everything all at once.

You said "3D touch is already saving me time as I can 'peek' at links embedded in emails without having to actually click-following the link and then go back to email." Is is that much of a mental challenge to open and app and close it - really?

By keep saying 3D Touch as "rebranded shortcut" really shows how clueless you are. One step is always better than two steps if technology permits, why not, why all of these "laziness" sentiment against technology? Might as well people still riding on horse rather than car, but that taking it to extreme. If you are saying people need time management issues resolved, I think you need reality issues resolved, mister. I will be the first to welcome you to 2016.

Is is that much of a mental challenge to open an app to read the contents and close the App - honestly?

But why should I take the extra steps if I don't need to? Just because things have always been done a certain way (i.e. opening an app, doing what you need to , then closing it) why should I continue to do that if there is a more efficient way? There's also more to 3D Touch than just being used for shortcuts, but you're not interested in that. You sound like you're a 90 year old who's scared of these new fangled gadgets and learning new things.

Let me guess a grand total of under 5 seconds - so what would you do with that time instead - enlighten me. Time still keeps ticking. There is a perceived purpose based on marketing, but it's a re-branded shortcut - that's it.
You missed a question mark or two.

Again its a perceived "feature" by way of marketing when in fact it's just a re-branded shortcut function. If you are that devoid of time, you need to improve time management.
Again, it's...

I wonder how many people upgraded from the iPhone 6 Plus to the iPhone 6S plus. BTW these naming nomenclatures are getting a bit out of hand.

Amen to that. And if you think that's bad, just check out the iPad names. A complete clusterfck. Surprising that Apple marketing couldn't come up with something better than that.

Having purchased an Apple Watch and used the 'Force Touch' which is the predecessor to '3D Touch' on the iPhones I can say you don't know what you're talking about, and would guess you haven't used either Force Touch or 3D Touch. Not that I'd expect you to change your mind if you did try them. You seem to be the kind who is incapable of publicly changing their mind after publicly expressing an opinion.

Because I want people to see how lazy they have become and realise it.

You seem to be confusing convenience and lazy. Perhaps a dictionary would help.

I'm happily retired and have all the time in the world. I'll still buy a 6s and use 3D Touch.

But, but Samsung still has higher marketshare, which means Apple is still doomed. *sarcasm*

The 13M is even made more impressive considering the 6S price is significantly higher outside the U.S. A 64GB 6S is like 40% more expensive than a 64GB S6 here in Singapore, Samsung can't be making anywhere near Apple margins on those things much less their lower end garbage.

Why do you need question marks? It is making people lazy when all the punctuation marks are provided correctly in a sentence. How difficult is it for you to understand where the question marks should be? Just lazy lazy lazy...

They should get rid of this gimmick they invented called 'punctuation marks', it is really making people lazy...

Remember: initial weekend sales are mostly to retailers stocking their shelves by guessing how many they need.
I thought that was Samsung's trick - - doesn't Apple quote the number of devices actually sold?

Dirty Scumsung loves using this smokescreen tactic to fool the media, claiming 2M tablets as shipped in 2011 when they knew they only sold 1M.

Recently they have become much more quiet with their shipment figures, my educated guess is their volumes are dropping so much to the point that using the same counting trick will already be an embarrassment, much less actual units sold to consumers.

I won't be remotely surprised if the iPhone 6S managed to outsell all S6 sold till date in just 3 days of release when counted in actual sales units.

It has nothing to do with mental challenge. It has everything to do with working more efficiently.

Sure, I can navigate to my home screen, open an app, wait for it to open, zoom in to the info I want, and back out of the app. That doesn't incur a whole lot of effort, but it does waste time. A peek and pop is a lot quicker and gets me to the information I need right away.

Computers are supposed to be all about getting us the information we need more quickly, remember?

Or, maybe we should just go back to hardware-based input buttons and make our phones run in text mode off the UNIX command line. Because is it really that much of a mental challenge to type in the command to run mail and navigate with arrow keys instead of swiping with our fingers? And why use anything other than vi to compose messages?

What does this mean? I'm assuming the 13M would have to include anyone that pre-ordered and received their phone. So is it really three days?
Are you really trying to downplay Apple even on a news like this ?
13 million and in a very limited number of markets

Impressive. I find it annoying that the only thing I actually want from the 6s over my current 6+ is the 2gb of ram which Apple should have included last year. Frankly, I dont feel like supporting their actions by hoping over to the 6s... I wonder how much real world faster the 6s would be over the 6 if they both had 2gb ram...
The RAM has nothing to do with speed...
That's because Apple didn't purposely gimp the phone like the did with the iPhone 6/6+ and iOS 9 is stellar out of the box.
Lol, because the iPhone 6 was such a sales fiasco, right ?
I'm really enjoying this thread. Someone is trying hard to downplay Apple on thread where it's not possible
I'm actually surprised how well they are selling due to the cost of these phones, especially when you factor in currency conversion in other countries. In Canada iPhones are now exorbitantly expensive - $400 for an GB iPhone 6S or $530 for an 16GB 6 Plus - on a TWO YEAR CONTRACT! Outright its $915 or $1,055.
Same here in Europe

You've done it! :D

Thank you for the enlightenment. ;)

 Now I will go enjoy my 3D touch. Or not, no one is forcing me to use the stupid thing that all these "lazy people" did not ask Apple to invent. Think about that: No one was demanding this, people just seem to enjoy it, simple as that!)

I know you don't agree with him, it's obvious by your inane response to his post. One more time since you can't seem to grasp it, what he said, doesn't warrant banning. Period.
My reply was deleted (I am posting too many pictures)

It was just this:

"I said Good day, Sir!" (with a meme of Willy Wonka saying the same thing)

The latest Samsung phones have 4K video, 2K screens, 15nm chips, fast charging, wireless charging, and other upgrades The latest phones have been upgraded from plastic to glass, and you have the option of choosing a curved screen or the traditional screen, which are more useful features than 3D touch. I'm not a fan of Samsung phones, but it's hard to ignore the obvious.

The latest SONY phones have a 4K screen, two days of battery life, a metal/chrome design, waterproofing, and more.

Apple hardly put a dent in anything exciting with their phones this year.
Apple still makes better phones than Samsung or Sony ...

We can safely conclude from these results that the iPhone is not dead yet.

The skepticism surrounding these results appears to be partly due to the fact that iPhone units are readily available in stores. Evidently, there's nothing Apple can do to satisfy some people. If we hear news about sellouts and limited supply, Apple is accused of artificially limiting supply in order to give the illusion of demand. If Apple sells 13 million but stock is readily available, Apple must be pulling some gimmicks.

Why would I want to play games on an iPhone for - it's a phone and use it for sms and photos, not gaming.
 This is why I agree he should be banned. Why do people not see a troll (with a 6 Plus, btw. Larger screen for "sms"?) when he is making it very clear?

They could easily have included 2gb ram last year. come on, you know this.
Yes, maybe they could have.... Nevertheless I'm still happy with my 1 Gb iPhone 6

Now you really demonstrated the reason of your presence here...
An iPhone for sms..

I love that he still calls it "sms" and did not mention eMail.

Edit: On second thought, I do not want him banned. That post of his has made me so happy. I don't mind everything he said about 3D touch now. What a lovely day!

Sorry to butt-in, but mate take my word for it, either the poster 'ArmCortexA8' is incredibly 'dense' or he is simply 'winding' you up... Whatever he/she is, it's simply going to increase his post numbers without gaining much or adding to the conversation....

Time to move on.... and sorry once again for "butting in" to your conversation.....

No problem at all.

I thought he was a troll at first (kept repeating the same things about 3D touch) but his comment about the purpose of an iPhone (phone calls, "sms", and photos. That is it!) was hilarious. :D

The conversation is over but I am now a huge fan of this guy! I don't really know what is up with him, but I love it!
