An 4 inch phone (iPhone 6 mini) would be nice.

But what really would interest me is a 3.5 inch phone (iPhone 6 nano). The original iPhone was released nearly 10 years ago. Imagine what you could do with modern technology. The screen is credit card sized.. and if they reduced the bezel the phone wouldn't be much bigger. Perhaps no bezel - edge-to-edge screen. A phone that you could slip into your wallet. That would fit into a tiny handbag. Or jeans pocket. Perfect for kids too. It would look cute.

Another vote for a smaller flagship. The 6 and 6+ are clown phones.
My wife has a 6 and I don't consider her a clown.... I have the 6+ and don't consider myself a clown..... Oh... I fixed your quote for you.

Another vote for a smaller flagship. In my opinion the 6 and 6+ are clown phones.

Any phone larger than 4" is a perfect demonstration of progress gone wrong.
In an ideal world companies should stick to what is right instead of sheepishly following market trends.
Sorry but this is one of the dumbest things I've read in a while.... You do realize every company follows trends and consumers wishes..... Name me one that hasn't.... oh that's still in business.

with a report claiming that the device would be aimed toward female users.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think it would be aimed toward males. Females always carry bags and can accomodate the bigger ones. Every woman I know has opted for the larger screen (be it iphone or android) rather than the small one.

And watch your company collapse?

So, you as the boss of a company, seeing that the public are buying less and less of your product, and more and more of other brands who offer something different that is proving to be popular, will just continue, irrespective making the same old thing, simply because you personally think it's right.

Yup, sounds like a winning concept for all companies to follow

I have the iPhone 6. My wife stayed with the iPhone 5c. I was really worried about going to the 4.7 inch screen size because i felt it too be too big. Now I can say that it is too big for my hands, but I will not go back. There is no way that i will ever go to the 6 plus as I also have an ipad.

I have learned not to text with one hand on the train and just wait to send messages unless i get a seat where I can use two hands. for everything else where I am not using a keyboard, the iphone 6 is great. And when I use my wife's iphone i do notice a difference.

Still, it makes sense for Apple to have a 4 inch model as there are still many people that would buy one.

I enjoyed when Apple had one screen size. Apple argued that was much better than competitors with dozens of different sizes and resolutions.

App developers, does 3 screen sizes make things much more complicated? Anyway, in my opinion 4.7" iPhone is the right sized iPhone. Hard to imagine using a 4" screen anymore.

To me a 4.7" iphone looks pretty close to the 4" after using and loving my 6 plus for so long.

I share your desire for a fresh new design. Currently it's as though J. Ive has been sitting back waiting for the next gushing praise, award, or other accolades based on past work. It's as though merely having his name on the roster is enough. How long will Apple milk this old iPhone style?

Back to a tiny iPhone, I'm not surprised. Jobs alone spent a very long time programming the faithful that it's all they'd ever need. A massive group of the Apple faithful bought that story hook, line and sinker.

What a complete load of rubbish. The design is 8 Months old. What are you talking about. or do you mean the fact it has a Home screen on the bottom? and has kept roughly the same shape for 7 years? What else do you want an Dodechaedron phone? There is a very good reason to keep the same rough design, so there is a healthy Case and accessories market. Something that Android and WinPhone do not have in any way.

No he didn't. Just pointed out that it was close to the perfect size to actually reach with one hand. And that remains true.

I hated the 5C don't make the 6C out of cheep plastic

I'd be tempted to upgrade to a 6 plus (or even stretch to the cost of a 6s plus) from my 5s. I quite like bigger screens anyway and could do away with my iPad considering what I use it for

The "failure" of the phone that outsold S4 & S5 and didn't sell more because even idiots can see the 5S was so much better at a slightly higher price.

Yes, the 5c didn't make much sense at Apple's list price.

But Apple were offering it much cheaper to carriers. You could (and still can!) pick up a 5c for £0 on contracts that were much, much cheaper than those available for the 5s.

Hopefully, Apple sticks with the current aluminum colors with the 6C with no more plastic in the iPhone line up.

I will try to upgrade to the 6S without selling my 5S. Gonna keep it as an iPod touch/spare phone.

That's what lots of people can't understand: If you go to an Apple Store because of the low price of the 5C, and you leave the Apple Store with a 5S for more money, then that 5C was a full success for Apple, even with zero sales! It's the same with the very first MacBook Air, which looked very attractive and got people into the stores, who then left with a MacBook Pro which was better value for money.

These devices _sell other products_.

I understand some people like small phones but the importance of managing all corners of the device with your thumb Is not a serious reason to me.

FTFY. (meaning, what people consider important about their phones is entirely subjective)

4.7" iPhone 6S, Space Grey, 128GB FTW.

If Apple throws 2GBs of RAM in the 6S, the Tri-Core graphics, like on the A8X, and a higher megapixel camera, I will be very happy.

I guess I have pretty big hands, but I got used to the iPhone 6 very quickly. I always thought the 6+ would be way too big until I started using my friend's. Now I'm tempted to buy a 6S+ in the middle of my 2 year contract.

I've got large hands as well and I still find the i6 harder to use than the i5. I never considered getting the i6+.

I wouldn't go back to the 4 inch side unless the other specs were also just as good. But if the only difference between the two were the size of the phone, I might go for the smaller one.

Now this may change if I become a Watch wearer. If that cuts down on my interaction with my phone then perhaps I stick with the larger size. I don't think I ever go for the i6+ because of difficulty pocketing it.

It almost certainly will be made out of plastic. Some folks like the color. And also the plastic gives the phone a bit of cushioning that metal does not. I hope they just take the current i6 internal specs and put it into 4" plastic case that is a bit thick so there is plenty of battery life. I won't be buying that phone, but I could see lots and lots of people really liking that.

Needs evolve and what is right is determined by the market and not by companies. I sincerely hope that you are not in charge of a business.
