I have no interest in giant oversized phones.. Even the 6S is going to be larger than my 5S and I don't think of that one as too small.. I didn't even think the 4S was too small.

I have an iPad if I want a bigger screen.
I never felt my 5S was small until I had my 6 Plus for a while. If I reduced the size any, the 6 would be as far as I went. Its small enough to use and carry easily. I can see the screen on everything back to the 4S but its so nice to have the larger buttons and text of the 6 Plus.

I too am thinking of switching to the smaller 6s from 6 Plus.

Is the image optical stabilisation of the plus worth all the hype? I take a lot of photos on my 6 Plus but I'm going off phablets.

I'm heavily considering going from an iPhone 6 Plus to iPhone 6S because of its size. Don't get me wrong: both the display and battery life are amazing and I have no trouble whatsoever to use it with one hand. But, in my case, it usually 'only just fits' in my pockets.

That's not really a problem if you are doing something static, but as soon as you start to become more active (for example, if you go cycling), it's becoming a problem because you'll feel pressure.

The 6 Plus, honestly in my opinion, is just ever so slightly too wide and ever so slightly too tall. If they manage to reduce the bezels with the iPhone 7, the device will be a lot more mobile I believe.

Again, display and battery life are awesome.

The difference will only be seen (maybe) in low light photos. No real need for OIS in well lit areas because the shutter speed will be high enough to not use OIS. The difference is in the times when blur due to your movement (not the subjects) is to be overcome.

And remember that with some many pixels in such a small sensor, there's only so much any IS can do in low light. You'll still likely end up with relatively noisy/soft images.

I currently have a iphone 6, in your opinion is the iphone 6s a downgrade from the plus, if I get a iphone 6s will my phone be a fully on par with the plus?

The only thing that is missing (outside of sheer size which equals to more screen real estate and long batter life) is the optical image stabilization on the 6s.

EDIT: at this point this is all we know. It remains to be see if EVERYTHING else is on par for that you would need to look at Geekbench tests etc.

Like 16Paws alludes to, the larger screen and physical size allows room for a larger battery. The higher resolution screen is nicer than the 6/6S, and I'm sure OIS is pretty nice. However, the ergonomics of the larger phone are worse than the regular size in my opinion; especially if using one handed. Overall, I'd say they're on par with each other, and that the plus is literally what is says in the title: a larger version of the 6 with the added benefit of better screen res and OIS. If they truly want to differentiate them I think we will see that on the 7 series.

so i get the 6s , i will still be in good shape?

If it wasn't for the bigger screen I would be on a 6s next cycle. The 6 my wife has runs much smoother than my 6 plus. Maybe the added ram will help now? Idk. I can't get myself away from the larger screen though.

Definitely. bhayes444 is dead on about the 6Plus being a little unwieldy in size. I like it because I have to remote into computers at work and the added size means I don't have to carry a laptop or iPad for really quick server updates and modifications... but that is all at the concession of one-handed use.

I was torn between the 6 and 6plus. I ended up going with the 6s. It just fits in my hand that much better. The 6s plus is just a tad too big. I think the ideal size is right in between the two. That would be absolutley perfect.

You should be in fine shape performance wise, but if a larger screen takes larger priority for you then go bigger. I'm jumping down to the 6S because I just don't care for the size and ergonomics of the 6+. If you're priorities are camera, battery life, or screen resolution/size, then you need to ask yourself if it is worth the trade off for the much larger footprint. That is the only real thought anyone needs to give to this.

I find the 6 screen to just be too small for me. I have both the 6 and the 6+ and always go back to the Plus. That said everyone is different you may find the Plus is just too big for you. I've had Android devices long before I had the Plus so of course I have become accustom to the larger sized phones. I was using the 6 this morning and was asking the wife how in the world do you surf the net on such a small screen. The Plus is definitely better for games and movies but worse for your pocket and its heavier both have advantages and disadvantages. I think a 5" screen would be perfect.

Get whichever one fits your needs best. You may not even notice a difference unless you use them both side by side. My wife loves her 6 and does't understand why I love my 6Plus so much. We have different needs when it comes to our iPhones.

I agree with this completely. I compared my 6 plus with my wife's 6 on launch day last year and was disappointed in the "lag" that I was seeing in my 6 plus. The higher resolution definitely demands more power so the 6s plus will improve on this. But won't that mean that the 6s with the A9 will be even faster? Keeping it ahead of the 6s plus? I can't give up the larger display, better resolution and better battery life but I really do like the added "snappiness" of the smaller iphone 6.

Exactly why I'm going to the 6s instead of the Plus.

Depends on how much difference the A9 and extra RAM makes. Yes if there is a difference between the 6 and 6 plus due to the difference in pixel density on the two phones then there will be a difference between the 6s and 6s plus, but the performance increase may be enough that any difference is not perceptible through normal use and would only show through benchmarks. A bit like seeing 2 jets going past, one at 1000mph and the other at 1200mph, there's a difference but there both too quick for the observer to see it.

I agree. We will see next week but either way I will stick with my 6s plus when it arrives. I wonder why Apple evens calls the iphone 6/6s screens retina HD while the ppi remains the same as the iphone 5/5s. They kill me with their marketing but I do love the display on the 6 plus.

Reason being for the smoothness was because the a8 chip and the screen weren't working well together.

Because they are Retina and they are HD now.

Haha okay i'm just toying around here but if you have a retina display on the iphone 5/5s right, and the resolution on the iphone 6/6s is slightly higher(and I mean very slightly) with a "retina HD" screen and the 6/6s plus is even higher than any other iphone shouldn't it have a "retina HD plus" screen?? :)
