Haha okay i'm just toying around here but if you have a retina display on the iphone 5/5s right, and the resolution on the iphone 6/6s is slightly higher(and I mean very slightly) with a "retina HD" screen and the 6/6s plus is even higher than any other iphone shouldn't it have a "retina HD plus" screen?? :)
Well, they are both HD as 720 and 1080 are referred to as HD (sometimes 1080 can be referred to as Full HD to differentiate a bit). As for the Retina part, certainly the Plus has a higher PPI, so from that point of view they could have called it something like Retina+ or something like that.

I got the 6 and 6 plus last year on launch day. I just could not get used to the size of the plus. About 4 months later I decided to give it another try for a week and it went back. I have fairly large hands so I can pretty much use the 6 one handed which is awesome since I do a lot of standing on the muni in sf and need 1 arm to hold on. I really want to like the plus but ergonomically the 6 just suits me better and is far more comfortable to use. All the issues with the plus hardware wise (bending, speed)will be pretty much resolved with the S. I may try one more time in about 3 or 4 months but Im sure I will be back to the 6S.

There really is no winner in this debate. It really depends on the person and their hand size and how they use the devices. Glad we have choices. Still cracks me up that some people consider the regular 6 too big. I think its the sweet spot for me.

Regular size. I need something that's pocket friendly. I can fit my current 4s in my back pocket with no ill effects when I sit down. I've demoed the 6 in the stores and it's borderline whether or not I can even keep doing that. At least with the thinness of the new phones, the outline of the phone will be less noticeable in my front pocket if I need to move it there.

It 's depends on you and what you use the most .
I was thinking move to 6s from 6+ this year pocket friendly. To be sure I went to Apple store to check 6 and 6+ size compared again today to finalize yeah getting 6S Plus
6 are good size, pocketable, music, gym, applePay etc . I just cant give up the screen size of 6Plus and easy for my eye too. I can see all the contents apps clearly, iBook,You Tube,Photos, map, email ... also I don't use my iPad3 anymore and have no need to get new one.
And i don't had much issue with the phone in my front pocket i still can deal with it . My summer holiday using 6+ was great too .

Reason being for the smoothness was because the a8 chip and the screen weren't working well together.
I don't doubt that. I can only go by my own experience. I have no idea how smooth the plus will be. All reports last year were that it was fine too until I got it in my hands. Obviously not s deal breaker, but it's the first time I've noticed any of this

IMO Optical image stabilization was not a major differentiator at all. I think some of the camera sites even went on to say it made no difference- even in low light.

In terms of the plus needing to work harder to downscale to 2.7x from 3x it was definitely true that the 6 + was worse. but like other people said here we wont know until we see the phone and sites tear it down and more importantly people just use it. the A9 may or maynot have solved these issues

Contrary to the views of the majority, I see the 6S as being more premium than the 6S+

Reminds me of the laptop/notebook market where there is an optimal cost-effective size (15.6") - where anything smaller becomes more expensive due to the more specialised components and engineering required to have everything fit and function correctly in a smaller package. To provide pretty much the same specs in a smaller package is a magnificent feat of engineering and I definitely feel I have the superior phone when sitting next to someone waving their large phablet around.

So are you planning on getting the 6s?

Quoting myself from another recent post:

I said:
When the 6+ was first released, I spent a few weeks here and there with one (passed around for development purposes), and I encountered a little stuttering on occasion, where it wasn't present at all on the 6 (or even earlier models for that matter). So most people assumed that scaling overhead was to blame.

As time has passed, the OS, apps and now [especially] the hardware have gotten better - I'm a big stickler for this sort of thing, I hate owning something with a weird behavior you occasionally have to look over, so I passed on the original Plus, but I'm buying this iteration (pre-ordered at 2:59am, 64GB Space Gray :) )because I'm 99.9% confident, it'll be a non-issue.

I look at it as the 6S was the starting size, vs. a size reduced Plus, and they added the 401PPI display, bigger battery and OIS to the "premium" model :) It's like a [BMW] 3 series vs. a 7 series :D

Actually I understand where you're coming from, it's an interesting compromise: a 6S is probably plenty big enough for a _phone_, and the extra Plus features are a hard sell vs. the loss of not needing two people to operate it ... :D

I never had problems with the battery life of my 6 or the camera. I have had a little fumbling in trying to take selfies with the 6 due to the size which a smaller phone would be better.

I also have a DSLR for when I really want to take pics. I have no interest in a phablet.

6s = phone
6s plus = phone wanting to be tablet

I sort of disagree, after owning 3 5.5"+ devices really its just a bigger smartphone. It takes 6" and up to feel like it wants to be a tablet... because at that point it really is impossible for most people to use one handed.

Personally, I'm going to the 6S from the 6 Plus, and I have used both sizes extensively. I like both of them for different reasons that have already been discussed above, but battery life is significantly better on the Plus, and the screen size is nice for watching videos. To me, the benefits were not enough to justify the (minor) added cost and (minor) annoyance of having a larger device in my pocket this time around. That said, I wouldn't put it past me to go with the Plus next time I cycle my phone though...

Good post. I've never done extended, regular duty with the Plus (mostly just had it sitting on a desk/stand), so I'll be the first to admit, I'm not 100% confident I'll keep the Splus.

I went from the 5S to the plus. I've not had any regrets and i've not found it too big at all. Having said that i'm seriously considering just getting the regular 6S over the Plus. This is because I think the Plus has been under-utilised by app developers and apart from the better battery life theres really no major advantage to having the Plus, the bigger screen is nice but I don't 'need' it. The smaller size will be more convenient for my pockets and for taking out running and to the gym, and its cheaper.
If the extra screen real estate had been well utilised I wouldn't be thinking of switching back.
I'd agree with much of this. It's really disappointing that outside of Apple themselves, most devs have not bothered to even utilize the landscape mode or extra screen space of the 6 Plus. So I too agree that the only advantage seems to be the battery life. Add in the fact that the 6 Plus is slower than the 6 in terms of performance.

I went from the 5s to the plus and well, i will never buy something smaller ever! Last week i grabbed an iphone 6 from a friend and... It felt like a tiny toy, i think 5' should be the smaller size and 6 inches the plus (but with smaller bezels of course).

So yeah, 5.5' or more, or go home!

Last year, I bought the 6, and after seeing my friends' 6 Plus handsets, i got envious and went back to the  Store and got a 6 Plus, giving my 6 to my wife. Well, after a year of using the iPhone 6 Plus, I am absolutely OVER IT. I can't stand this big clunky thing. Just my opinion, obviously, but I will be glad to go back to the standard size when I get my 6S in next week(wish).

The Standard Size 6S is plenty phone. I've got my iPad Air 2 if I need more screen... and that iPad Pro will be mine soon enough.
