These heating and shut down issues are the proof that Apple is so much overestimated. They make so many mistakes and faulty products. Last year there was bend gate (two friends of mine have their phone bended slightly from normal use). I personally have the shifted front camera lens like a lot of people. They tried to get more money from us hard working people, by using cheap bendable aluminum and a ****** 1 GB RAM in the iPhone 6 for fantastic app and Safari tabs reloads. Now with the 6S these major problems. And still Jonathan Ive will tell us with a sweet hypnotic voice, how fantastic the product has been put together with true craftsmanship.

I bought a Galaxy S5 Plus last week (S5 Plus is 430 euro, 6S is 750 euro and 6 is 650 euro in The Netherlands), just to test and compare it with my 6 and I'm ready to switch back to Android. I still have a week to return the S5 Plus, but I'm really thinking of replacing it for my iPhone. Bigger screen, better feel in hand and grip without a case, no lag, just as fast as my iPhone, better battery life, multi-window which I use a lot, water resistant, removable battery, transfer songs from my computer to my phone without any hassle. Also the little things like skipping to another part of a YouTube video just by tapping where you want to go, instead of putting your fingertip exactly on the red dot and then dragging to where you want. To find a contact to dial someone is also easier on Samsung, much more intuitive. I have the iPhone for 5 months now, but enough is enough. I also have a frustrating bug on my phone where I don't even hear notification sounds for my Whatsapp messages half of the time. I'm leaving the Apple sect:mad:
Peace out

It really seems to come down to the fact that iOS 9 is the biggest turd of an os. I don't recall having these issues when I was beta testing iOS 9 it only seemed to start happening after iOS 9 went live to the public. There are some real problems with it and this isn't something we should have to be doing with our devices, if I wanted to deal with a clunky os I would have gotten an android.
It happened to me on iOS 8 iPhone 6 early this year

I am running 9.1 beta 3......mine shutdown on its own and the Home button was almost too hot to touch !!!!!......it stated hot for an hour until I eventually did a hard reset to get out fired up again , at which point the home button immediately started to cool down again??

Happened to me for the first time Friday night. Not sure what time since I was sleeping. Its now happened 3 more times. Phone will not turn on until hard reset is done.

Given MY experience:

1.) It happens on 9.0.2 and 9.1 Beta 2 (not saying it doesn't happen on other versions, but this is what I've personally experienced).
2.) Resetting all settings does NOT fix it.
3.) It can happen while plugged in or unplugged.
4.) It sucks.

It happened now for me for third time. I confirm - during the event (screen black, no response from the phone) the Apple Watch was still connected and I could brows my emails and iMessages from he watch. Even I could sent a message from the watch.
After phone restart I checked the diagnostics logs and found one crash file was generated - this time for Microsoft onedrive app. (Similar to previous two times when whatsapp and Twitter have crashed). Now I removed the OneDrive and will see if the phone will freezes again.

I just haven't experienced this yet

64GB silver 6s+

Has to be software though if people with a 5s are also having this happen

I plugged in my 6s Plus 64GB to charge at night, put it facedown on my table. Next day wake up with this problem. Had to hard reset, and I missed my bloody alarm thanks to this bug.

Could it be anything with leaving the phone face down on a surface? Because iOS 9 now detects that your phone is face down and doesn't turn on the screen even when there's notifications. Maybe this feature is actually causing this bug.

I don't think so. I've been using sleep cycle alarm clock app just about every night and it instructs you to place the phone face down on the bed (you can watch it turn the screen off as you place it face down) and it hasn't locked up and the alarm is still going off like it should.

Again, I've only had the problem one time so far and it only happened when I turned content blocking on and has not done it again after I turned content blocking back off.

6s plus iOS 9.0.1

Not sure if this is related but thought I would add it to the discussion. Since updating to iOS 9, my screen remains off when my alarm sounds in the morning. I can sweep across the display to stop the alarm like normal but no light comes from the display until I hit the home button. I have had the phone stop responding (no display coming on and requiring a restart) twice total since getting the 6S+, never happened with 6+. The 6+ and iPad Air 2 both stay dark in the morning after being on chargers at night. My iPad will leave the display off after opening the smart cover and remains off after placing my finger on the touch id. If/when I click the home button the screen will come on finally. Every morning the same with exception of a few mornings here and there everything lights up.

I bet you it the Apps conflicting with iOS 9 code mine been on since last Wednesday with only 11 Apps installed.

if you reach for your phone and it requires passcode to be keyed in instead of just regular fingerprint unlock then your phone rebooted. My already did it three times. I hope Apple is patching this soon. I would rather not miss any important calls because my phone was off

I thought ios apps can't be autorun when the phone turns on, so why would it matter what apps you have installed? Seems to be freezing or blanking the screen because of ios, not because of old apps or settings.

Corrupt settings and itunes/icloud backups ... I've never heard of these thing causing problems on desktop (macs, PCs, Linux) or other smartphone. I think that idea of needing to do a "clean" install is from people using win xp for a long time.

Just happened to me for the first time this morning. Was using it fine for a while. Put it down and when I picked it up about 20 minutes later, screen black. Home button didn't do anything. Power button didn't do anything. Plugging it in didn't do anything. Only holding home and power for longer than usual did I get it to boot.

Release day Samsung A9 64 GB 6S here. Just did it for the first time. I received an email, heard the notification, picked up my phone, and dead locked up. Had to hold power and home.

From speaking with a very helpful person at Apple just now, I directed them to this thread which some engineers have looked through but say they haven't received any official reports of it so far and have no answer for it. They wanted to take my device in to look at it but after the iPhone 5S Gyroscope + M7 7.0.3 patch, I'm willing to wait a couple of weeks for the software resolution I am fairly confident will come.

It hasn't happened to me for a few days now so fingers crossed, it won't happen again.
