iPhone 6s Supports T-Mobile Extended Range LTE on 700MHz Spectrum

Unfortunately the dots on that coverage map are deceptive. The use low resolution and JPEG it so you think it looks almost all covered but in reality there is a tremendous amount of white uncovered area on these sorts of maps out in the rural areas. Or maybe that's good. It's a feature, right, no disruptive cell coverage... It's a feature, it's a feature...

Before calling people names, perhaps you should do some research. T-Mobile is the fourth carrier in the U.S. because they have the worst service. Americans choose Verizon and AT&T because they provide good to excellent coverage. T-Mobile has to have cheaper prices in order to attract customers.

They're the third largest carrier as they surpassed Sprint several months ago.

This is awesome because I'm in a spot in my office that gets no signal, I have to go to a window to get one. It's enough to get me to upgrade to the 6s alone.

Been with T Mobile for 1 year now and I can say it is the best carrier and best support I've had for the past 15 years.

I have been with T-Mobile for the last 2 years. Great carrier and great customer support. Plus their coverage is always improving.

Since I have been with T-Mobile which is now 2 years, I have noticed a great improvement in their coverage in my area.

That's not their projected LTE coverage map. The map shown is their "complete coverage" by the end of 2015. That includes roaming and even 2G networks as well as LTE.

I think you're right. I can't imagine that being their LTE coverage in a few months.

Finally. Last year's iPhones could've had band 12 (as did several Android phones before it), but nope.

It's important to note that band 12 is only useful if you live in an area where it's available.

Are the Verizon models 33/34 or 88/87?

Is one model going to be Sprint/Verizon and the other T-Mobile/ATT?

Instead of paying $20 for 18 months, I wish I could just plop down my $360 + $164 = $524 all at once and walk out of the store.

It's usually better to pay over time if there's no interest on the loan. If you have the full money up front but pay over time, that allows you to keep that money in an account earning interest or appreciation. It's not a big difference in the end but adds up. I do understand just paying and getting it over with (particularly if you can use a credit card that earns at least 1% cash back) but a no interest loan saves you money.

While it's getting better there are still many places unserved/underserved by T-mobile. Extended LTE support also required VoLTE services be fully operational since there is no fallback 3g service in many of these areas. Their lifetime service guarantee is really a nothingburger since after 30 days their refund is only for service and you are free to go to another ( compatible ) carrier.

This page will give you an idea of where band 12 service is out ( antennas ) or could roll out ( red = licensed ).

I have and like T-Mobile. I'll gladly switch from them to another provider when the cost of service and what's provided is about the same as mine ($22 per month per line after taxes and fees for calling, texting, 1 GB data + music streaming, WiFi calling, free Canada texting/calling/data). I haven't found anything else remotely close.

It's amazing how much of a turnaround T-Mobile has made in just the last several years. They pioneered the unlocked and no contract trend we see other carrier's engaging in. I'm proud of the fact that I was a T-Mobile customer even before they decided to call quits on phone contracts.

Sensorly isn't reporting any significant increase in coverage, so I am thinking it has not been turned on yet?

Either that, or people just aren't mapping these areas. It's a shame Apple hasn't opened up more APIs so that iPhone users can start mapping.

I just wished they could get some financial power and just go dark and build a massive network. I love the uncannier moves he is making. I just need him to let his network operations team off the leash and get the entire country or at least every major highway blanketed in LTE. I would switch i swear on a stack of insert text you swear on. I hate VZW they are slime balls unhelpful and at worst arrogant when you speak with there agents as they know they are the only game in town that works. I mean forget price just having to call them and tell them what they are selling on the TV or internet to get the deal is just dumb. There agents are not very helpful and to top it off they lie to you and say something can not be done when in deed it can they just want to keep getting that extra each moth per line even though i own my damn phones. Oh and you can not just log in and go hey i own my phone now discount time. This requires you to call in for them to threaten you rate plan you already have. I swear if i could get enough not even great coverage i would leave for t-mobile right now.

Not financially doable with their high-band portfolio. They can do it and have one very dense network, but that would just cost so much. Need to have more low band.

Come to US, try to drive between two cities, there is nothing but desert for roughly 100 miles (160 km), and I would really consider that a short drive. If you are with T-mobile, you are out of luck. If you are visiting a small town, good luck with a map and a up-to-date tourist book, because you are not going to be using your phone.

T-mobile is great overall, but the coverage of Verizon/ATT is just better.

Sounds like you aren't speaking from experience.

T-Mobile has said many times that unlimited is not sustainable. I think 10GB with Data Stash is a good compromise frankly.

They've said a number of times that it is sustainable. They're getting faster and faster.

I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile last year to get a much better rate and (where I live & work - Orange County, CA), I'd rarely get LTE, and I often got 3G and EDGE.

EDGE!!!

That's iPhone v1.0 speed!

Unfortunately I had to switch back to AT&T. :(

I often get no reception on T Mobile when in many buildings downtown Chicago, though I see people with ATT and Verizon using theirs just fine. Wonder if this will resolve that or not.

i would like to know too. wonder if this upgrade from iPhone 6 is worth it for this reason alone......especially living in Chicago

Sounds like you don't either. Was just out on a trip this past weekend with a friend and his wife both have T-mobile. Out on the open road, mountains, small town we visited, yea they don't get signal too often. They even took a trip to a small town, ended up sitting at the bar for pretty much the entire day trip because they had no signal and didn't feel like exploring.

I'll give credit where credit is due, in the city T-mobile often has faster LTE than my Verizon. But out there, it doesn't work very well. But if you are just going to blindly defend T-mobile then we have nothing more to talk about.
