Here is my problem with that...

I've worked for a major logistics company and my wife is a senior efficiency analyst for the same company, and we both agree that this is the type of nightmarish trainwreck of inefficiency and poor planning that can cause a company to go under if allowed to continue for too long. You mention other carriers... look. My friends and I constantly pre-order devices, and each time, I am the butt of the jokes because they're up to date from Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T and Sprint just falls on its face each time. A friend of mine is the regional for AT&T and he loves this, because it drives in hordes of new customers. People who are rightfully fed up with a company that is so poor in its planning and execution of launches and promotions.

Sprint has had so many chances to get things right, and they've managed to keep from folding somehow. I honestly have no idea how, but they have. But they don't seem to learn from it. One thing I can tell you for sure is that this is the very last anything I get from Sprint. I've been with them for 16 years now. It used to be because it was cheaper, but that is no longer the case. The service is awful. Obviously, the hardware side of things is a living nightmare, and all they do is screw up. There is no reason that they should have been caught so off guard for this launch the way they seem to have been. There are countless numbers of other companies who are more than capable of handling much more complex and hectic programs. The habitual failure of Sprint in their abilities to adapt to changes market trends, customer demands, and forecasting accurate sales figures isn't because it's hard to do... it's because they're bad at what they do. And there is a very considerable difference between the two.

I am getting an iPhone 7 Plus 256gb and it says that it will ship on 9/23. Is there any chance that I could get it this Friday (First Day) or sooner than the 23rd?

I have a 23rd shipping date for 7P 256 Black. Based on conversations with Sprint the 23rd is what it is.

I mentioned on here that I've been with Sprint for 16 years and really can't complain about the service outside of the 2 or 3 times a year I travel into rural areas. Now, this is my first rodeo with the pre-order thing as I historically would either order at the store level and let them call me when it arrives or simply wait a couple of weeks and go buy directly from a store (Sprint or Best Buy). I say all that to say this... why stay with Sprint if you're convinced they're just that bad compared to other carriers?

I absolutely touched on that. Go back and re-read and you'll have your answer.

Reading through the AT&T thread... a lady ordered the same phone as me more than 24 hours after I did and she just got a shipping confirmation from AT&T that her phone will be DELIVERED on Friday.. I know different company but still give me hope. Also my charge for $106 went through on 09-12 after preordering Friday at 4AM EST 1AM PST. So i am hoping that is a good sign as well.. Maybe I am just hopeful..

I emailed that lady, and got a call from someone at Sprint and she said she did some digging and made calls about my order which was for a 7 plus 128gb jet black. She said she got info that they had not been giving people. She said it looked like there was a very good chance I get mine this Friday from the dates she had. So thats promising!!!

Thought I'd share my Sprint iPhone order/shipping history for everyone's amusement.

iPhone 5, Slate, 32GB
Ordered 9/14/2012 at 4:30AM EDT. Order status said, "Excluding extreme circumstances, we'll do our best to get it to you Friday, Sept. 21." Got a shipping notification on 9/20. They fulfilled their promise for delivery on the release date, 9/21.

iPhone 5S, SG, 32GB
Ordered 9/20/2013 at 7:24AM EDT (due to epic Sprint website crash). Apple didn't have a preorder this year. Order status said, "Your iPhone 5s will ship in up to 3 weeks. A tracking number will be sent when your phone ships." No tracking info was sent, but I received the phone the following Tuesday, 9/24.

iPhone 6+, SG, 64GB
Ordered 9/12/2014 at 6:12AM EDT (website crashing for hours after preorders start). Order status said, "Your phone will ship in up to 3 weeks." Got an email saying my order shipped on 9/19, which was the release date. It actually had shipped the night before, and I received the phone that afternoon.

iPhone 6S+, SG, 64GB
Ordered 9/12/2015 at 3:50AM EDT (placed the order through Telesales because the website had crashed). Order status said, "iPhone 6s Plus 16GB and 64GB, all colors: Up to 4 weeks from your order date." Got an email saying my order shipped on 9/22. Release date was 9/26, and I received the phone that day.

Not sure what the above proves except that Sprint's shipping estimates actually got worse over time. Don't trust the order status. Don't trust the customer service reps. Just wait for UPS to tell you that you have a package being delivered to your house ;)

Sorry, what lady was that? I missed something, obviously.

I have heard over and over that if you ordered early then you should receive you device on launch day because Sprints shipping estimates are HORRIBLE and they hardly update you with any information but here I am checking this website every 10-15 minutes.. I wish I could stop worrying about it. But I can't. I am so ready to have more storage and have everything on my phone.. It is killing me. This 16GB is AWFUL. So ready for 128GB!!!!!!!!!

One more thing. Everyone should remember that last year there were 2 weeks between preorder and delivery. This year there's only 1 week, so timelines are more compressed. That might mean there is less chance to get the phone on release date, or it could also mean that more phones are being allocated and shipped the night before vs. 2 or 3 nights before.
