Thank you all for sharing your experiences. My brother's 6S leather case hasn't stood the test of time well but I'm not sure whether that's just carelessness on his part or a genuine design flaw.

Not an easy decision :/
Hope my experience of Apple cases can help you make that decision easier :)

I bought a midnight blue case in 2014 when the 6 Plus came out and I've been using it non stop for two years. It hasn't worn as badly as you expect; apart from a couple of marks, it has barely discoloured. Were as my sister bought the red one and I kid you not after 3 months it discoloured so badly it turned black and orange! The leather cases have a really nice premium feel to it but as mentioned above, definitely pick a dark colour such as black or dark blue!

The silicone ones do feel nice in the hand, I used one for 2 weeks when I got the 6S Plus but quality issues had led me to return it (a white pocket of air had bubbled up and began peeling near the camera and the inside fabric began to split from the case). I couldn't be bothered to get another one and just returned it and stuck with the leather one. I'm sure the quality of my case was a one off as many of my friends and family are still rocking theirs!

Hope this helps, I can send you a picture of my case, so you can get an idea of how 2 years of use looks on a leather case!

Just received email saying payment has been declined on apple. Though when i enter new payment information it says "authorisation failed". Contacted Barclays and they said everything is okay, though still says authorisation failed on apples side. Tried another card and the same story. Cant contact apple as its out of hours.

Anyone else had this issue?????????

Yes I had exactly the same with Nationwide. They even gave me the auth code so I can check with Apple tomorrow. That said, I can see from my online banking that it has gone through now even though it said declined on the order page.

Wow really. When did this happen? Were you supposed to get a launch day delivery. Someone on here spoke with Apple on the phone on Friday with the same issue and was told that it wouldn't effect their delivery and would still get it on Friday. I hope mine is not delayed. I got mine authorised on Friday evening, the payment is showing as pending in my account, my status has been preparing for shipment since Friday night and I've got a device with a serial number appearing in my support profile. I hope I still get my phone on Friday.

Had the email from Apple at 4 am on Saturday morning advising the payment hadn't gone through.. After speaking to the agent at 9am he put the payment through manually but said there may be a chance my order may be delayed by 1 business day. My order status still remains the 16th though so hopefully all's well.

Ok. I could be in the same boat as you. I never got an email from Apple, it was only because I'd checked my status on Friday and saw the problem around 6pm. Has yours gone to preparing for dispatch now?

So an Apple Pencil going from 79£ to £99 is purely cos of a weakened pound ?

You're still ignoring my point about previous iPhone price increases, which is more relevant than you banging on about the Apple Pencil....

The difference in iPhone price last year from the previous year was in line with the rest of Europe. This year it's 10x more than the increase for the rest of Europe. You're saying that's not brexit?

I'm curious, how exactly did you "see" the problem?

The status of my order has remained at "processing" since Friday, hasn't changed at all.

I agree. I import goods from the US and prices have increased since Brexit. Not good.

If I recall I had this issue with my iPhone 6 order. I noticed because I had an email I think. If not I was checking my order a lot and on the status page it said payment not authorised.

Yes, within seconds of the payment being authorised it went to preparing for dispatch

I opened the Apple Store app around 6pm on Friday and it had in big read letters by my order status. Problem with your payment. Payment could not be authorised. It said that I needed to get my bank to authorise it as they would keep trying to take the payment.

That's how I realised there was a problem. Initially I was confused so tried to authorise the payment again and it failed again. So I called up Halifax and whilst I was waiting to speak to someone I got a text message on my iPad fron Halifax asking if I had used my card to make a payment for £819 on Apple.com. It asked me to text yes or no. I replied yes. Then they replied and said thank you for using Halifax fraud prevention and told me that I had to wait 10 minutes before I could try to make the payment again.

I waited about 20 minutes to be on the safe side and re-entered my payment details on the website. It accepted them straight away. Then I logged onto my online banking and saw that there was a charge for £819 in my pending charges. About 5 hours later my status had changed to preparing for shipment . It's now been on preparing for shipment all weekend and I can see it in my support profile.

That sounds good. Mine took a few hours but it's been on preparing to dispatch since Friday night.

Did it effect your delivery date?

With the fall in the pound compared to the dollar the price would have increased from £79 to £92 so Apple have rounded it up. The prices on the phones match pretty closely the fall in the pound but the prices on lower cost items had bigger increase than the fall in pound due to the way Apple have rounded up.
Which 2 dates did you use ?

Finally succumbed and paid off my device plan last night; went for a 7 128GB in matte black!! have a delivery date of the 16th which I wasn't expecting but cant complain!

Just had an email saying that my payment has been declined.

I think it's payment for my 128gb iPhone 7, as my wife's 32gb has been showing as preparing for dispatch and shows up in my support profile.

Since it's 2 seperate orders I imagine M&S credit cards got a bit suspicious of 2 large transactions from apple in a short period of time.

I'll give them a bell tomorrow and see what the score is!

Cheers. At least you seem to have had someting show up in your Apple account that did indeed flag up the issue. I knew nothing about it until the email landed this evening.

I now have a "pending" payment showing on my mastercard, so hopefully in my case it's just been a glitch and it's sorted itself out. If my order still shows as "processing" tomorrow morning, I'll give them a call though.

I said its at least half currency related. But that's not the full story

It does rather look like a lot of payments were caught the Bank of Scotland/Halifax systems. That might also have explained the 30 minute plus wait to get through to their fraud team!

Not sure its got to this stage yet but if for people have there device serial number on their support profile. Remember you can put it into this website... http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

You put your serial number in and it shows you when and where your iPhone was manufactured. Been used in the last few years forums. Be interesting to see when they were manufactured this year. Especially for the black plus iPhone models.

Collect in store 128GB 7 Plus Gold - £819 transaction from 'Apple Kiosk' now showing on my credit card (£1 was authorised on Friday when I ordered).
Due to collect on Friday 16th at 5pm.

Oh Apple had to make it hard for us :D

I think Apple does have a huge challenge on its hands logistically every year, but they did shoot themselves in the foot by making the ship date one week after announcement, unlike normal where they have two weeks.

And to us, yea Apple stuff might have lost the magic, because we have so much of it, and being 'fans' or whatever you call it I'd say we are hypercritical of anything they do. Let's face it, the bog standard customer doesn't even know that all this pre order madness happens when they get their new 7+ on contract in a few months time

Lucky ;)

Apparently the serial numbers are different, how have you been trying to decode it?

Nice! A plus on launch day! I got in at 8:06 for a matte black plus 128 delivery on the 27th and those silvers looked tempting with their launch day delivery :D

Anker have 7 plus protectors on Amazon, I've ordered one, not happy lol but that's what I get for trying to be prepared

What storage size and is yours a matte black or a jet? I got confirmation at 8:06 for 7+ matte black 128gb so hopefully if you've got the same as me I should move soon!

Cheers mate! Just grabbed one and while I was looking it went from 7 available to just 5... Will return my other one I purchased.

New serials this year, doesn't work.

In my case it didn't. Whether that was because I got the issue resolved quickly or not I do not know.
I also got mine resolved quickly. I don't know how long they had been trying for but I got my payment sorted within about 20 minutes of me discovering the issue. This all happened on Friday and my status changed to preparing for shipment a few hours later. Hopefully it will be ok.
