Does it make any logistical sense for apple to ship out online pick up orders separate from their physical store stock where people can reserve on the upgrade program?

or are they simply allocating their stock to online customers opting for store pick up but paid online?

They'll probably say the anodisation process is harder for the black models hence the reason why it's taking so long to get them all made and shipped.

The anodisation process is to blame as well as the high demand for those models! It wont be any different anywhere.

From the offset the plus models in black had a 2 week delay

By Brexit - u mean currency fluctuation and that is only half the story.


Unit sales will be lower for the 7- so a price increase compensates for Apple. Also , they are more loath to jack up prices in the US, so would again compensate in their foreign markets , especially the richer ones where they have greatest market share (ie UK)

Have a look at the price increase for the iPad Pro 9.7 with cell and the Apple Pencil. That's not Brexit pal!

In don't know the whole reason for the price increases, probably brexit and other reasons. The iPhone I can kind of justify as I'm getting a 128GB 7 plus and I'm only playing £30 more than I did last year for the 6S plus in the same capacity. A few days before the launch KGI ran a story and said that the plus would he $50 dollars more because of the dual lens camera. However the markups on the iPads are shocking. I mean £549 for a 32GB iPad. They've also wacked up the prices on the watch bands. The worst is the link bracket which has gone up by £80. It's annoying but there isn't anything better out there so I have to pay the Apple tax.

I think someone on this thread had the same issue. They has called Apple and Apple re-took the card details and entered them manually again over the phone and then the payment went through.

Yep, that was me . Card payment went through straight away but the agent did say I may face a 1 business day delay on my order.

Yea my 6S plus in silver is showing in white. Then again my SS Apple Watch has the leather loop strap in the thumbnail and I don't own a leather loop.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. My brother's 6S leather case hasn't stood the test of time well but I'm not sure whether that's just carelessness on his part or a genuine design flaw.

It's got some scratches and marks on it, but that's what the case is there for! Generally very happy with the leather cases. I love the feel they give the phone. I've ordered a red one for my JB 7.

Apple have an unusual accounting practice on iPhone revenue where they defer it over the life of the phone rather than recognising it all in the quarter it's sold. Therefore launching a few days earlier won't have a huge impact on key measures like revenue and gross profit.

It will marginally help the non financial measures, namely number of iPhones sold in the quarter.

It's got some scratches and marks on it, but that's what the case is there for! Generally very happy with the leather cases. I love the feel they give the phone. I've ordered a red one for my JB 7.

Whether I go silicone or leather, it's gonna be midnight blue. Such a beautiful colour

Wow really. When did this happen? Were you supposed to get a launch day delivery. Someone on here spoke with Apple on the phone on Friday with the same issue and was told that it wouldn't effect their delivery and would still get it on Friday. I hope mine is not delayed. I got mine authorised on Friday evening, the payment is showing as pending in my account, my status has been preparing for shipment since Friday night and I've got a device with a serial number appearing in my support profile. I hope I still get my phone on Friday.

Of course it's brexit for the phone. Previous years the UK increase for iPhone price wasn't much more than the rest of Europe, but this year it's 10x. If you're going to do a comparison, use iPhones, not Apple Pencil, mate.

Same here with my black one.

I think the dark ones age better. I have a very light pink/beige one and it got dirty and marked quickly. The same with the iPad mini smart case that I had in a similar colour. My iPad Air 2 dark brown smart case has aged a lot better. It's about 18 months old now.

Apparently John Lewis' pre- orders are going live at 8 am on Friday morning. I'd check online on Thursday night as last year you could pre-order on the Thursday night and pick up on the Friday (launch day) in store.

You could check Argos too as apparently they had some stock on their site yesterday for pre-order and claimed delivery would be on the 16th. I'm not sure if anyone confirmed it though.

Argos yesterday didn't work. When you attempted to put in basket it said delivery in 99 days

Midnight blue is a dark horse colour. I wrote it off as boring but recently I got the midnight blue modern buckle for my watch and it's beautiful indeed. It's become my favourite strap.

I usually go for the leather case, but since my last purchase I've gone vegan, so this year I'll be buying the silicone one to match the iPad Pro keyboard cover.

I hope my pickup at the Apple Store on Friday isn't affected by the fact my card couldn't be authorised as my bank had put a hold on it due to possible fraud which ended up being my own transactions. I've got a pickup window of between 6:45pm and 7:00pm on Friday and I don't want that to be affected.

Yup, since the first iPod touch (seems like forever ago!), year after year I went space grey. Got the 6+ in gold, 6s in silver and love the white front. I was going to jump,back for the matte black but none available so happily stayed silver

So an Apple Pencil going from 79£ to £99 is purely cos of a weakened pound ?

With the fall in the pound compared to the dollar the price would have increased from £79 to £92 so Apple have rounded it up. The prices on the phones match pretty closely the fall in the pound but the prices on lower cost items had bigger increase than the fall in pound due to the way Apple have rounded up.
