Seriously questioning my choice of 32GB now I've installed iOS 10.

My iCloud Photo Library now takes up 18GB of local storage. Fair enough it's over 13000 photos, but I was hoping it would not use up so much with optimise storage.

Has anyone ever gone through the process of exchanging or returning one?

Can it be done in store or do I need to do it online?
Do you really need to have all 13,000 photos at all times? Probably not, and when you do you'll have internet.

The Optimise Storage feature will only remove high-res local downloads once you are low on space. So if you still have some free space it will leave them there.

..isn't that the natural texture of leather though? Looking at my Midnight Blue Leather case on my iPhone 6, which has had over a year's usage, there are 'crease' lines all over it even now. That's what leather does though - no?

This is a pic of my case, way back in December:

Notice all the 'crease marks' in the red circled area - and this was a brand new case at the time. Its just what leather naturally does.

It's leather it's supposed to look like that!

I will bow to your superior knowledge on the subject but I was always under the impression that paid-in-advance in-store pickup accounted for scarcity and removed the pickup option, but that the separate reservations system ran at 100% availability (not accounting for the odd spare due to DOA devices).

They definitely push you towards it, and they don't like to talk about walk-in stock because they don't want to encourage people to queue up, but they do like the "show" of clapping those folks in.

I've been the first in Bath's 8am reserved queue the last few years, and they always ask me to wait for them to let a couple of the overnight queue in first because they've been waiting so long. Last year, I think they only had 3 rose gold phones (they were the Jet Black of 2015!) so lots of people were disappointed in the line, but they had other options for people.

Still no movement for me either, 8:03 confirmation, 7+ Matte 128gb.
Same here with 8:06 confirmation
My Apple Watch last year was dispatched from China 24hrs before being delivered to my home in UK. Don't panic if things don't move today - tomorrow is moving day for most!
Thats good! So it did the entire trip from China in 24 hours?!

I've just read in the US/Euro thread that someone with a matte 128 plus has just managed to find their UPS tracking and their phone will be here on Friday. Still plenty of time for us ;)

But that's 128gb? I'm 256gb, presumably 256 are in even shorter supply.

Optimising storage is a variable thing though - I've got 15,000+ iPhotos synced via iCloud and they still take up 25GB on my 128GB iPhone 6 with optimisation turned on. There's 20GB free space on the phone, so I assume that there is some kind of 'dynamic allocation' to automatically delete previously downloaded full copies back to thumbnails dependent on what else is taking up space on the phone.

Eg: if the OP has a 32GB phone his library will scale up to fit an allocated amount of space & scale back if it's filled with other stuff that 'has' to live on the phone?

I also agree that if you have a lot of photos or downloaded music then 32GB is too small these days.

Back on topic for a second... :p

I haven't actually seen anybody else apart from me with a Friday pickup/delivery time from Apple of a Jet Black device (please, don't think your CPW/EE/whatever receipt is worth the paper it's written on).

I'm due to pick up a JB 4.7" iPhone 7 on Friday at 08:00-08:15. Order currently in @Processing@ like most people here.

I think the 128 and 256 black plus models are both in pretty short supply :/ but it's always good to see Apple getting orders out the door ahead of their predictions. This means they are working quicly, so good news for all of us with late Septemner or early October dates on the black models. Hopefully we hear more about the 256s from the Americans later ;) they always seem to get movement before we do!

How is everyone's Photo Library taking up so much space? I have just under 3,000 photos and it's using 300mb of storage data? Do you have 'optimise storage' turned on?

I have about 1.5GB of storage free on my 16GB 6 Plus so with my 7 Plus 32GB I'll be swimming in free space. Unless my iCloud Photo Library decides to fill that space, which a few have mentioned.

I managed to get on the Apple Store app at around 08:05 on Friday and got an instore pickup window of 08:00-08:15 for this Friday.
Now I am seriously thinking I made the wrong colour choice!
I went for the 128Gb 7 (not plus) in Jet Black, Now I think I should have gone for Matte Black!

My only hope of getting one of Friday now is JL tonight. I take it if I don't use the JB one from Apple, I can return it without hassle, correct????

To answer my own question (!) the same iCloud / iPhoto library of 15,000+ pictures takes up 25GB on my 128GB iPhone and only 9GB on my 128GB iPad (which is full of movies & hence less free space).

Can you imagine how upset all people will be who queued without a reservation. Apple Head of Retail doesn't like queue chaos. No walk in stock on Friday at all.

I've got under 5000 photos taking up 56GB! (I use my phone as an on the go back up of my DSLR though!)

Don't know if anyone has had delivery of the Black Silicone Case yet but I just have. Here is a pic. Don't know why they took so long in producing a black one. Very impressed with it.

When i try to order 7 Plus system says no pick up available> How do you order a phone to be picked up at an Apple Store?

There's no question on if there will be walk in stock as far as i'm concerned. The fact almost every store still has reservable phones right now (not pluses!) says it all. They will have stock. The only question is if there will be stock of "sold out" reservations, and I say there will be, but only 1 or 2 of each model. If i'm wrong you have permission to spend all day Friday PMing me "told you so" gifs ;)

Nope. 32GB will be perfect for a lot of people. My 16GB 6 Plus have 1.5GB of space left. I'll have loads of space left even with a 32GB phone.

Are you really only using the phone to make calls, web browsing, photos, and not a lot of apps?

my iCloud photo library is 25GB, the phone using 16.5GB for photos and camera
