Could they see the dead pixel on the screen? Can you see it?

Yes we both saw the dead pixel!

They arranged to replace screen saying come back after an hour. But they ran a diagnostic test on the phone and it was from there it said needs to be sent to depot quoting 5-14 days!!

Don't bother. People will believe what they want to believe. In reality for the consumer law to stand up in court for something like a defective screen, you would have to prove either a design or manufacturing deficiency.

And you wouldn't stand a chance.

So how are people, including me, getting repairs for free?

I'm just going to look out for your status change for now one.. no chance of my 4-10th Oct order moving if yours hasn't!
I've got the same delivery window for a 7+ 128 black and I'm really hoping it doesn't change as I'm in Paris for work the week before, so if mine moves you can have my slot ;)

Its weird, i used my bank via paypal and nothing is coming out my bank or pending. I also ordered the Iphone cases though that i actually received today for £45 each and they didnt show as coming out (pending) either. They moved to completed in Paypal last night when dispatched. Money still not pending in bank for those

Hmm maybe things work slightly different when using credit cards?

Because it's a goodwill repair. It's far easier to pacify moaning customers who flap on about their "rights" as a consumer than to argue with them.

I haven't argued one bit. They repaired it three times already without me even asking it to be done for free!

All I've said is I expected Apple products to last more than 3-4 years, with the amount of money I paid for them. They said that the repair will be free.

Edit: Nevermind that it's been the same bloody problem three times in a row!

Precisely! So you've got it done for free without even mentioning consumer law. So you benefited from Apple's great customer service, not the law.

And for the record, yes I do think Apple products should last for a long time and in my experience they do. All I'm saying is no one has some right to a screen that lasts for longer than the warranty period enshrined in law.

"UNLOCKED" on the availability matrix means the phone is marked as available for standard reservations, but not iPhone Upgrade Program or iPhone Payments Plan reservations.

Looking at the code behind Apple's reservation system, this means those phones will be available for standard reservations when that system is unlocked (which it says will be 6am on Saturday) - but they're not available for iPP, which is classed as a "CONTRACT" phone plan type.

Hello! Sorry in advance as probably loads of people have asked this, but for those that have bought the phone outright from Apple, what's everyone's Order Status? Mine has said 'Preparing for dispatch' since Saturday, has anyone's gone to 'Dispatched' yet?

Lucky you mine is stagnant on processing:(

I wonder if we will be notified of any change in order status or will we receive an email/txt message saying the order is ready. I'm just wondering if checking my orders status a few times a day is a bit pointless?

If you set up your :apple: account to receive order notifications, you''d get one for every step of the delivery. You can do this via the Account Settings within the App Store app

And are therefore not able to be reserved now, but will likely appear on Saturday morning?

In a way it's like a sneak peek of the upcoming stock!

So Rene Ritchie was on mac break weekly this week. He said that the new black iPhones are the hardest to make and that the annodisation process takes about 18 hours. He indicated that he had been told this when he went to the Apple event last week.

I had a Jet Black 7 order with very.co.uk I cancelled last night, but it was due for delivery on Friday. I just got this email:

Dear Liam,

We're contacting you regarding your order for the Apple iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black.

We’re really sorry but there has been a delay with the stock and we won't be able to despatch your order just yet. At this moment in time, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus is so popular that there is not enough stock in the UK to meet demand.

You’re a valued customer and we know this is frustrating so we’ll treat this delay with the highest priority. We are hoping to deliver your Apple iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black in early November.

The only flaw in my plan was i ordered a spigen screen protector - it came yesterday too...smashed! Amazon (really good actually) are picking it up today and delivering another. I ordered a plastic one too just in case. When I got my 6 on launch day I went 'naked' for 1 day...still have the scratch on the screen....

Interestingly, I also ordered a Spigen screen protector for my 7+ from Amazon and it was delivered quite shattered (although the packaging looked okay from the outside). Odd. I returned it but haven't yet ordered another. Let me know if you do get a replacement Spigen one and if the replacement arrives intact. Thanks!
