It's probably not very ethical but I guess there's nothing to stop those (like me) with later delivery dates (Oct 4-10) to order an iPhone 6s Plus to "tide them over" and then just return to Apple after 14 days? As long as you don't scratch the phone you'll just get a full refund.

JL is obviously good for people like Kitty who were able to get a phone but the way they were making a big deal out of it and they had next to no stock. I mean 9 phones what's that lol
It sold out and came back it seems they're releasing them in batches of 10?

I'm not annoyed that John Lewis didn't have any 7 Plus models (apart from pink) but I'm annoyed that they implied they would have stock from 8pm when clearly they didn't. You can't order (even as a back stock item). What a waste of our time.
Precisely!! I rang customer services and she just ummmed and aggggd through the conversation - do you think there is any chance they will have black/jet black in store on Friday?

Managed to get the iPhone 7 (not plus) 128Gb in matte black in my basket at JL.

Then the credit card companies fraud checks delayed so much, none left by the time they approved!

So F*#%ing pi%#}d off right now!

I would say no Jet Blacks on release day. Of if they are they are going to the true fans.

On eBay all the ones listed are either showing off their confirmation email with a date of October (and bids for those are low) or the ones who claim you will get it on the 16th look like they plan on camping out and flipping it.

This is my 7th iPhone launch. I've received all the others on launch day but it looks like the Jet Black 7 128GB will break the run.Sadly, this is more of an issue this year as my 6S was stolen in May and I've been struggling with a 16GB 5S ever since.

The 7 is clearly a stop-gap for Apple until the major refresh next year. The compromise of the Jet Black colour is one of the few things to get excited about, design wise, this year. So why are stocks so low?

I ordered at 8.09am the other week and I'm in the 26th Sep - 3 Oct bracket. That's fair enough - I saw the estimate when I ordered.

...Until you factor in that Apple are providing other retailers with stock. Why are Jet Black phones being provided to John Lewis, when Apple have their own preorders to fulfil? How is that a good customer experience when the people who keenly logged into Apple's website 11 days ago are still waiting for their order to move from "Processing"?

I realise that Apple occasionally bump up their order dates, but being able to order (and pick up) an Apple phone that Apple themselves can't provide is ridiculous. No, John Lewis didn't have a huge supply (9 apparently) but that supply should have been given to the pre-orders. What's the point of allowing JL to do this? It just reflects badly on Apple.

Quick scenario.

I'm Apple. You're John Lewis.

You sell more of some of my products than my Apple Stores do (yes, this really is true for Macs).

You devote huge amounts of your very expensive real estate to showing off my products.

You add 2 year guarantees which makes my products more attractive.

You ask for a piece of the pre-order pie for iPhones.

I say no.

You'd be hella pissed off.

This has never happened before. The closest comparison I can think of is the higher-end Apple Watches. They were 4-6 weeks from the get-go. But the only difference was the strap, so it isn't really comparable, and the backlogged models were never pitched as "the" ones to get.

Am fairly sure the white IP4 was not available at launch.

Same for me.

Ho hum...

It wasn't. They clearly stated in the keynote so. So why the hell haven't Apple done that this time!!

I'm more annoyed about disrupting my day for a pre order that never had a chance of coming on launch day. Plus missing out on all the hype with my fellow Apple enthusiasts.

Sadly Apple get more boring every year

Nothing wrong with that. And even a scratch won't make a difference. ( a crack in screen is a different story)
