I'm lost as to what to do after Very f*cked me over. No sympathy from them either. Already sold my 6S Plus so now I'm stuck with a cheap android phone for 3 weeks.

Ordered 7 Plus 128gb Black 11am 09/09

Was due for delivery 16/09, now 08/10

Quick scenario.

I'm Apple. You're John Lewis.

You sell more of some of my products than my Apple Stores do (yes, this really is true for Macs).

You devote huge amounts of your very expensive real estate to showing off my products.

You add 2 year guarantees which makes my products more attractive.

You ask for a piece of the pre-order pie for iPhones.

I say no.

You'd be hella pissed off.

You're ignoring some key details;

* Apple were aware that the Jet Blacks are in short supply and aren't willing to provide any of their customers with them on the 16th.
* Pre-order stock was allocated to everyone else on the 9th of September - not the 14th.
* The amount of Jet Blacks given to John Lewis was so low, that there was little point to this.

Pre-orders on John Lewis should have been opened on the 9th, with the ratio of stock on the different variants as Apple had themselves.

Probably wishful thinking but my previously pending payment on my Amex Card is now no longer showing. The available balance still shows as though the £819 is on the card but nothing no longer pending. I say wishful thinking as my order was a Matt Black 7+ 128GB. I had order email confirmation at 8:03AM on Friday

Apple did have Jet Black non-Pluses for launch day. I have two reserved myself.

They were also available for delivery.

It's the Jet Black Pluses that there were none of.

Apple have screwed up this launch big time but I don't think this particular part was that bad.

It's all down to apple. It is their fault. John Lewis is not to blame in this situation.

I got told by one of the store managers that they would have the plus available in black and 128gb configuration

I think you misunderstood my point. I don't blame John Lewis or Apple for not having stock. I blame John Lewis for not being clear about their stock levels. Even up to 8pm tonight, they were saying order online from 8pm for all colours. However, they either did not actually have any stock or stock was so limited that none of us stood of chance of getting the phones. I refreshed several times and only saw the rose gold (pink) iPhone 7+. John Lewis could have said 'Not available' for the models they didn't have or 'very limited stock available from 8pm' for the items they did have in stock.

Whilst stores may get phones, I'm not queuing up before 8am just because a store manager has apparently said they will have stock. The online team and website said they'd have stock and it seems misleading at best.

This launch definitely hasn't been smooth sailing. Last year was much, much better. Apple should really announce the new iPhones in say, June but keep the pre-order dates/dispatch dates for September. That way they have a couple of months to ramp up production so when pre-orders happen, they actually have some iPhones to ship

next year is going to be fun if this years anything to go buy.. the big 10th anniversary release and everyone clamouring for it.. can't wait ;)
I'll have to pick the out of favour colour again and hope for the best. Lol this year rose gold was actually my first choice.

Actually, they quite clearly had lines crossed through the colour swatches of everything but the Rose Gold Plus all the way up to 8pm, so it was obvious, to me anyway, that that was the only model anyone would be able to buy when they pressed the go button.

Case delivered now the wait...

Missed out on the John Lewis plus, was even willing to settle for rose gold. By the time I got to payment it said out of stock Was gonna settle for the standard 7 but same thing happened.

I had this dilemma with the watch, I remember mines being 3-4 weeks delivery but then after launch day you could just reserve to collect in store anyway.

John Lewis pre-orders have always opened after Apple's.
