spoke to apple because I didn't recognise the last 4 digits of the card.
However what the live chat person didn't tell me was its perfectly normal to have the "wrong" last 4 digits. because I used Apple Pay.
By the time I found this out it was too late, they had removed that as my payment option and I gave them my credit card directly rather than via Apple Pay.
I have had a £1 hold on the card but nothing else.
So I rang Halifax, who I must say are excellent with their customer service, and the lady confirmed it had been flagged and she has un flagged it. the problem is that apple have removed that payment and are re-trying with the same card but who knows when they will retry.
The most annoying thing was if I had been told that the last 4 digits are always different with Apple Pay it would have been an easy phone call.
So the long and short of it is:
Who knows what will happen now!?! If I was really really lucky it may get put through and go through ok soon. If not he said they will try for payment on the 20th.
I am waiting on live chat again to see if they can"push" the payment through but I am not hopeful....
Interestingly enough when I spoke to the halifax I asked if there was a way of giving them a heads up about a substantial purchase and she said its totally random and automated so theres nothing they can do. Which explains why in April I successfully used my debit card to pay £7000 for a car without an issue. Yet a £819 phone causes all this.
I have said it before but this launch has been such an utter debacle, I actually feel exhausted from all the calls, panicking, logging in and out, so lucky I have had the week off work to deal with it today. Really rubbish launch year this year
