My payment was blocked by Halifax for fraud prevention on Friday last week. I was regularly checking my order status and that's how I found out. I got it authorised by Halifax and then the payment went through straight away. My status changed to preparing to dispatch about 4-5 hours later and I still got my phone today.
I don't know what is up with the banks this year. They seem over zealous.
Same as meexactly same as me mate!
Just about ready to give up on this shambolic mess of a launch.
Think we might see movement maybe mid next weekSame here it seems anyone in October is out of luck.
I know it's ridiculous. I've spent much more than £819 in one go and Halifax didn't bat an eyelid. Heck I've even used my card abroad without telling them I was travelling. No issues.spoke to apple because I didn't recognise the last 4 digits of the card.
However what the live chat person didn't tell me was its perfectly normal to have the "wrong" last 4 digits. because I used Apple Pay.
By the time I found this out it was too late, they had removed that as my payment option and I gave them my credit card directly rather than via Apple Pay.
I have had a £1 hold on the card but nothing else.
So I rang Halifax, who I must say are excellent with their customer service, and the lady confirmed it had been flagged and she has un flagged it. the problem is that apple have removed that payment and are re-trying with the same card but who knows when they will retry.
The most annoying thing was if I had been told that the last 4 digits are always different with Apple Pay it would have been an easy phone call.
So the long and short of it is:
Who knows what will happen now!?! If I was really really lucky it may get put through and go through ok soon. If not he said they will try for payment on the 20th.
I am waiting on live chat again to see if they can"push" the payment through but I am not hopeful....
Interestingly enough when I spoke to the halifax I asked if there was a way of giving them a heads up about a substantial purchase and she said its totally random and automated so theres nothing they can do. Which explains why in April I successfully used my debit card to pay £7000 for a car without an issue. Yet a £819 phone causes all this.
I have said it before but this launch has been such an utter debacle, I actually feel exhausted from all the calls, panicking, logging in and out, so lucky I have had the week off work to deal with it today. Really rubbish launch year this year
Does anyone else's new iPhone 7 plus make a clicking noise when you push the bottom of the front casing? Also when gently twisting the phone? Was going to take the phone under water but this worried me
Well hoping to just swap out for a black, lets hope they get them in for reservation in the morning.I was told last year that I could swap my silver 6S plus for a gold one in the same configuration. I even rang up the store which had the stock and they confirmed that I could. I never did because I had morning sickness and couldn't get down to the store.
At least something went wrong for your status to not progress... mine is golden but no movement, ordered before some of those that have had movement, feels like I've been queue jumped, grrr.Spent ages waiting to finally get connected then my internet drops out!
I don't think this phone is meant to be. Literally everything including the kitchen sink has been thrown at me today
For credit card fraud detection, items like phones are high on the red alert list to flag as suspicious. Espically if a large item like an iPhone is outside your usual spending pattern. You informing your bank or card provider about an impending spend does not automatically authorise the purchase, it just allows the agent who picks yup the referral of your transaction to make an informed decision on its validity.I know it's ridiculous. Using your card in person, be it abroad or buying a car, typically means you've put your pin in, thus providing a greater level of authenticity of the purchase.
I am actually glad they flag transactions. But this one time has caused me so much aggro (still waiting for a live chat rep)
Doesn't look like my issue will be resolved any time soon
