After 10 years of lurking, I've FINALLY decided to comment on a thread! I'm eligible for some sort of prize, right?

Anyway! Just wanted to say how appalling I've found this iPhone launch.

I ordered an iPhone 7 Plus (black) 128GB at 08.08 and I'm still stuck on "Preparing for dispatch" since early Friday afternoon. I don't believe for one second that Apple's logistic network grinds to a haunt at 5pm Friday and doesn't restart until 8am Monday. Surely the phones will have moved or progressed through the network - so where are the updates?

Why couldn't Apple have held the launch back a week longer to allow stock to build up? They could have said "Look, we're making millions more Plus models so we're gonna launch it a week later so everyone gets a shot at getting one!" Instead they've created this frenzied atmosphere where people are ordering several iPhones from different sources in pure desperation which is, most probably, making the situation a whole lot worse.

I'd imagine the cancelled pre-orders, in-store cancellations, returns, attempted in-store swaps etc etc is making matters worse.

I've so far wasted countless hours browsing these forums looking for a glimmer of hope it would be delivered launch weekend. So far, nothing.

I'm sat here hoping that by some miracle, Apple have been sloppy with their site and my phone is actually out for delivery today with UPS/TNT/DPD/UkMail.

What's the chances of that happening? Slim to none?

If you ordered at 8:08 I presume you had an initial delivery estimate of 26th-29th? I ordered the same model at around the same time.

Your order has probably been bumped up to 20-22 now and that is a realistic delivery time slot. Preparing for dispatch is a positive sign that you're getting a phone from the next stock arrival but the updates usually happen around 4pm UK time, and on working days only. I'd say you gave zero chance of it coming today but I expect it to change to 'dispatched' around 4pm and you can expect it over the next 3 days.

Astonishing that you're still on processing!
I was setup for Apple Pay, no errors reported but I just didn't like that there was no movement on my phone when others with later confirmations had movement on status. On Saturday morning I changed from Apple Pay to a debit card, hoping that it speeds things up and gives me more visibility than the Wallet app.

Careful! Some users don't think it's ok to complain about a mega corp when you've spent nearly £1000.

But you're right. It's been a mess.

Consider yourself lucky that you're on PFD though! After the apple pay error, many of us are still on processing and have been for 11 days now. No money taken out, no movement, apple chat always just say 'we're waiting for your your turn in the queue.'

Ha! I don't care if it's Apple or my corner shop, the basics of good customer service are to set customer expectations. People can deal with facts (usually). What causes problems is a scarcity of information.

I paid by Pay but didn't have any problems (thankfully) however I can appreciate how infuriating it must be to use Apple's preferred payment method and to be subsequently screwed by it. I'd imagine next year a lot of people will be hesitant to use it.

.....have faith people!!!!

I was on "Still Processing" all last week. Now, Monday morning, and I finally have the "Preparing For Dispatch" showing on my order page, despite no email from Apple confirming order dispatch?!!?
It changed this morning? Or haven't you checked it since Friday afternoon and it could have happened then?

That's right! I was 27-29th and by later Friday evening I was bumped to 20-22nd.

I'm trying, rather deludedly, to hope that I'll be one of those people you hear of that get their iPhones earlier than they expected without notification it's coming. (I've descended into madness, clearly!)

Its weird that everybody is comparing it to the iPhone 6 launch. As I went into O2 the day before launch, preordered one with a new contract and set it up on launch day.

Obviously I have no idea how Apple handled their preorders, I must've got lucky.

This is the first time I'm preordering with Apple. I personally find it ridiculous that they can't have enough stock for launch if you purchase a phone in under 5 minutes.

It's also ridiculous that some people preorder with Apple and get a date of November, yet there's people that have purchased a phone on John Lewis at launch and get it the day after launch.

Also don't even get me started on all the Apple Pay problems...

Rant over

I did the same, initially issue with Apple pay then changed to my credit card, then HSBC reported fraud, so now I've changed to debit card hoping they'll just take my money.

Still on processing for iPhone 7+ 256 (20-22)

I agree, I may be biased but I really think Apple should look after their launch customers rather than 3rd parties.

No movement on mine, not surprising considering the delivery estimate is 3th-10th October :(

still scouring eBay for an iPhone 6 of any derivative providing it has a capacity of 64gb or 128gb and is a decent price and condition.

If anyone has one that they were considering trading in to envirophone or similar please consider me and PM me please.

Thanks

Hey,

I'm going to send off my iphone 6 64gb to mazuma when my 7+ arrives... It's in great condition if you're interested? Not sure how quickly you need it?

My payment has been taken too. That happened on Saturday though so no idea how good a sign that is. Still preparing for destpatch with a delivery of 20-22. Hmm
When you say 'payment taken' do you mean it's showing as a transaction from Apple or just a reduced 'available balance'?

I am in the latter camp and have been for days!

Not necessarily. Personally I've reached a point in life where having the latest iPhone on launch day or within the first few weeks is a LOT less important than it used to be. (I had every launch day iPhone since 2008)

I appreciate everyone is different. The way some people describe the situation though, sounds more like they're describing the supermarket running out of food than buying a luxury item!!

So i've been lurking on here, thought i'd say hello to you all, i'm waiting to do the AUP and go for a matte black 7+ 128Gb, 6am starts for me are the norm so i've been checking for the new stock as soon as it becomes available. I'm in no real rush as my 6+ is running well and i'm just wanting a change. But it's still a new shiny and a small part of me wants it now!!! lol!
Just a query, what phone contracts are people on? I'm on the Three 1 month rolling sim free and get unlimited mins, text and data for £20, i'm perfectly happy with this as it includes 4Gb tethering and feel at home.

I'm on that too, however I will be changing to EE when they do another 16gb data for £20 deal as I'm fed up of threes crap quality network. It's slow and the amount of times I'll be waiting for a page to load with full signal but it then times out and I drop to zero signal is doing my head in.

I feel they've become too popular with the unlimited data and their network just cannot cope with the traffic on it

Yeah, I understand. It just really bugged me when a few people started calling users childish.

When actually, I think the people who are left in this thread now are people who have genuinely had a lack of communication from Apple (me included) that caused frustration.

The kids who ordered 7 phones and cancelled 6 of them to get a launch day phone are happily playing with their phones!

On an EE SIM only with 7GB of data for £16 a month. Unlimited calls and texts. Think it was advertised with only 4GB of data but I haggled and they wouldn't reduce the price (which I would have preferred) but they increased the data. I never really use more than 2-3GB of data in a normal month as I'm on Wi-Fi pretty much everywhere I use my phone for streaming something, the 7GB does come in handy for tethering sometimes though.

I have EXACTLY the same order, the same current phone and same sim.

I'm sticking with a Three for their AYCE data - its untouchable considering O2 offer a 50GB tariff for £90!

When people start trying to condescend me or belittle me to bolster their own insecurities they join my blocked list :)

The way I look at this thread is a bit of fun where you see the same names year in, year out. I don't think anyone particularly means when they are raging about a phone.

Look, We all know there's much worse to life than a poxy phone.

When you get users jumping in and stomping their feet to make themselves feel big it takes away from the harmless fun of it.

Yes I think Apple screwed up this launch, probably through greed and launching earlier before everything was in place. I suspect they'll learn for next year.

Remember people to leave Apple feedback otherwise nothing will get done!

Does any one think that it could be a glitch that when putting in your county and the date got bumped to 20-22 it is actually still the original delivery date??
