Hi Guys,

Thoughts on this , i have gone from a 6 64GB to a 7 128GB matte black, if i'm honest i,m now wowed by it so thinking of going to a 6S so get some of the newer features that the 6 didn't have, has anyone got a 6S 64GB in space grey that was from Apple in mint cond etc they would be looking to sell on.

I have a 6S 64GB Space Grey in excellent condition had screen protector and casee on since day 1 !

PM me :)

I'm afraid it's the end of the line for my stock checkers.

The data I was loading isn't "accurate" anymore. There is a new reservation system that contains different stock, and unfortunately, it's way more secure with numerous protections against people like me!

I think @KSean is going to try and adapt his checker to support it tonight, but i'm not around this week so I think i'm out of the game!

Good luck to everyone getting your phones, I'll still be around here i'm sure!

My best advice for you now is to keep checking the reservation system, accessing via http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program - there might well be a referrer check that enables access.

This makes sense to be honest, The folks in my local Apple Store had told me "management were aware" of the stuff we were doing here, and they weren't necessarily thrilled about it!

@KSean @RazorD

Hey guys, what's up with the stock checker then? Any joy figuring out how Apple's changed it, or is this the end of stock tracking for this year?

:)

EDIT: What a coincidence, RazorD just posted!

Is it worth it @Toms72 ? I understand people not getting on with a bigger/smaller size, but there's surely not a world of difference between a 6 / 6S / 7 if they're all 4.7" screens?

Only upside I can see would be getting a credit back for the full 7 price and benefitting from the 6S being cheaper now than it was, sounds like a lot of faff to me, but obvs it's your money ;)

What a shame. Have you got a link to @KSean tracker?

I'll repeat what I said earlier - the 6 and 6 plus launch was far worse than this - web orders were shot in much the same way, no stock in stores for weeks rather than days.

I don't get why people seem to think this is worse and surely they launched before everything was in place etc. It's just the norm. I didn't get the 6s iteration, so maybe things were better then, but every launch I've been involved in as been pretty much like this....

Well it wasn't for me because I got a launch day phone like I have every year. Also most people on this forum who got orders in early got a launch day phone

This year no one has who orerdered a certain colour, it wasn't even available, so yes IMO this year is far worse.

They normally give a bigger space before pre orders, normally they have some of all models available and I believe the last couple of years they launched a week later than this year (may be wrong)

They've also launched an upgrade program that at this date you won't even have paid the 11 months required to be able to upgrade next year. The whole point of it!

So yes I think this year is worse

I'm on that too, however I will be changing to EE when they do another 16gb data for £20 deal as I'm fed up of threes crap quality network. It's slow and the amount of times I'll be waiting for a page to load with full signal but it then times out and I drop to zero signal is doing my head in.

I feel they've become too popular with the unlimited data and their network just cannot cope with the traffic on it

If you ring EE and quote the tesco mobile deal, vodafone or potentially still BT deal, they should offer 20gb for £20 and/or 25gb for £25.

After 10 years of lurking, I've FINALLY decided to comment on a thread! I'm eligible for some sort of prize, right?

Anyway! Just wanted to say how appalling I've found this iPhone launch.

I ordered an iPhone 7 Plus (black) 128GB at 08.08 and I'm still stuck on "Preparing for dispatch" since early Friday afternoon. I don't believe for one second that Apple's logistic network grinds to a haunt at 5pm Friday and doesn't restart until 8am Monday. Surely the phones will have moved or progressed through the network - so where are the updates?

Why couldn't Apple have held the launch back a week longer to allow stock to build up? They could have said "Look, we're making millions more Plus models so we're gonna launch it a week later so everyone gets a shot at getting one!" Instead they've created this frenzied atmosphere where people are ordering several iPhones from different sources in pure desperation which is, most probably, making the situation a whole lot worse.

I'd imagine the cancelled pre-orders, in-store cancellations, returns, attempted in-store swaps etc etc is making matters worse.

I've so far wasted countless hours browsing these forums looking for a glimmer of hope it would be delivered launch weekend. So far, nothing.

I'm sat here hoping that by some miracle, Apple have been sloppy with their site and my phone is actually out for delivery today with UPS/TNT/DPD/UkMail.

What's the chances of that happening? Slim to none?

Same thing happens every year. See the same comments every year. They hold it back a week, there's still going to be shortages. There's the same amount of people wanting the phone, whether it launched last week or this week.

Apple have given a delivery date and always deliver within that window, it's a proven track record, yet people still get their panties in a bunch panicking it might not arrive.

Any comment that people will bail and go to android is a bit extreme. Out of everyone threatening that, only a handful will go, and most of those will come back. Perfect example is a certain user in this thread...

I agree, I may be biased but I really think Apple should look after their launch customers rather than 3rd parties.

When people ordered at launch, they were given an estimated delivery date, they'll deliver by that date, although usually sooner. If you notice, the third parties are mostly in the same boat. Their initial launch stock went like hotcakes and are out of stock, with some not even knowing when they will get more. John Lewis are estimating they won't get any black pluses till November, but you can bet you'll get one from Apple before then. It only looks like the third parties are being treated better, but they're really not.

So i've been lurking on here, thought i'd say hello to you all, i'm waiting to do the AUP and go for a matte black 7+ 128Gb, 6am starts for me are the norm so i've been checking for the new stock as soon as it becomes available. I'm in no real rush as my 6+ is running well and i'm just wanting a change. But it's still a new shiny and a small part of me wants it now!!! lol!
Just a query, what phone contracts are people on? I'm on the Three 1 month rolling sim free and get unlimited mins, text and data for £20, i'm perfectly happy with this as it includes 4Gb tethering and feel at home.

I'm doing the same as you with the iUP. I have sim only with Three, £10 for 6 months then £20 thereafter wth unlimited data, (tethering is now 30Gb), unlimited texts and 200 minutes.

Two things:

1) We're only talking about Jet Black right? Other colours were available. I guess maybe I will move the goal posts then and say this year is no worse than any other year for people who didn't pre-order within the first 30 mins. Is that fairer?

2) The upgrade program is a major issue for me, I accept. I'm in the same boat. I have a 7+ in white, but want Jet Black. I've got this for 14 days, but need to send my old 6 plus for recycling to keep the deal given. I also want to do the upgrade program pretty much ONLY so I'm on the case for next year. If I can't get a JB within the month, It's not happening.

I'd potentially say I'm tempted to just keep my 6 plus at the moment.

So my argument is not that it's not a complete sack of ****, because it really very much is. I'm just saying its not that much worse than any other year, and I don't understand the shock of other posters.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Ordered one from them. Such a resanable price at just over £8 delivered! I have an official leather apple case here ready for my plus and my last two phones still don't have a mark. Jet black this time so I think it's better to protect it a little more.

Oh yeah, I see the same temper tantrums every year. However I've always taken them with a pinch of salt because I've always managed to secure mine on launch day via the Apple Store. This year has been different. Even though I've done exactly as I've done in previous years, I've not managed to secure an initial delivery.

So for me, this year, the launch has been appalling. For whatever reason, Apple haven't been able to muster up enough which I understand. But I would prefer a little more transparency from Apple to manage our expectations.

Just some of the posts here are getting a bit hysterical IMO.

Ah right! I just tried it - no results!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Perfect pairing of posts.

Thought so. What I was seeing on your stock checker wasn't lining up with what I was seeing at 6am.

Last year, I ordered 15 minutes after launch for a 6S plus space grey and had to wait 3 weeks, although when order placed it was 4 weeks. I couldn't get one in store at my local in that period. So, yes, it was just like this year.

Also, you could still get launch next year on iUP, as you'll be in the 11th month, or if you're not (due to starting later) you can just pay the extra month prior to launch.

The 6S launch was much the same. People just forget what it was really like.
Nope!

A friend of my works for a huge apple store in the north west. He said everybody in the store is thinking "what the f is happening"!!

He said the launch has been viewed as an all round disaster certainly at store level.

I have an Anker screen protector for my 7+ (no longer available on Amazon UK atm) but I've had problems with my 6 where their flat glass left a small gap exposing the curved edges before my wallet case started, leading to tiny chips right on the very edges.

This year the Sena wallet cases have a more raised lip (looks rubbery?) so when that comes I'll know what's what. I think I'm most likely to get the Belkin screen protector fitted in the new machine in-store that was mentioned previously:

You can make extra payments to cover any difference to get one at launch next year. That's what some of the Yanks have done.

So my argument is not that it's not a complete sack of ****, because it really very much is. I'm just saying its not that much worse than any other year, and I don't understand the shock of other posters.

Exactly.

So, basically because it affected you this year, it's a crap launch? That's poor reasoning right there.

Also, Apple did say Jet Black would be limited.

My brother works in Covent Garden and they're all saying it's the same as every other year. No thoughts that it's a disaster.

What did you order and from where?

Friend of mine said Three rang him today, he originally had a pickup date of tomorrow but is now delayed for 2-3 weeks. He ordered 128GB Matte 7+.

They told him straight up that Apple is to blame for shortages.
