But would it be more of a pain dealing with that issue?

You'll probably be best camping overnight to get one in store to be honest....

local apple stores are both inside massive shopping centres that dont open until 9am, theres no way a queue will be maintained from the outside of a massive shopping center the whole way to the front of the apple store, its the Watford store if you are familiar.

Today was the first i heard of the iPhone locking to the first sim.
I have come across this article which is a very interesting read:

Jamie
Thats very weird. Here in Australia, all iPhones are pretty much sold unlocked, even on networks. Mainly because people who travel overseas to Asia get them unlocked anyway. Even if you do get a locked one here, most networks unlock them now and they can't charge a fee anymore.

I too placed an order with VERY; 256 7+ Black. After two phone calls following confusion with their finance system (I found their ordering system very strange) I have one ordered for Friday delivery apparently.

I ordered around mid day-ish and at that point they had only sold 5 of that model (so i was told); so we are not thinking about big numbers here - i honestly never knew they even sold phones.

Now wondering what to do with my Apple Store order (might keep as a back up and then cancel or return it etc).

Yep was straight on the phone to cancel. Gonna try John Lewis and then just play the waiting game until October.

No surprise there. Classic Very! Although those who did get in first and have launch date phones from Very, congrats :)

My Very order still says "Delivery by Saturday 17th" for the 128GB Black 7 Plus. I guess I got there just before the dates slipped backwards.

I'll keep an eye on it though

My local stores are Regent Street and Covent Garden...

Also, Milton Keynes shopping centre let people queue early a couple of years back...

For those discussing Spigen cases, be wary. Unfortunately my 6 now looks like this. All it takes is for a few bits of grit or sand and you are left with marks like this all over the rear and sides :(

First year since the 3GS that I haven't upgraded on launch. Had the window open on the Apple Store checkout and also on the Vodafone checkout - both with a (6s Plus 64 GB - replacing) black 7 Plus 128 GB, ready to choose one and hit 'Buy'.

I couldn't do it.

I feel the same & have never bought an S phone, just stuck with the 4, 5, 6 & now 7+. I'm perfectly happy with the same phone for two years & the S has never appealed strongly enough to upgrade after only a year.

I'm fortunate to get a SIM from work & BYOD, so I figure that a new iPhone every two years for £800 (that I hammer all day every day) less £300ish back for the last one is a lot less than most folks pay to their Carrier each month. This time I'm getting a bigger screen (for me, vs a 6) with IOS10-enhanced peek n pop, slightly better battery, a twice-as-fast chip, far better camera and some water resistance which all goes to justify the bump.

Sometimes it's okay just to say 'nah', and next year I might break my rule if the next one is as special as rumoured. If I had a 6S now then I too would pass on the 7.

Mine says the same (ie 17th) yet when you hit tracking it does still say 16th.

Like you i have seemed to have managed to snag one early enough as my delivery date is still saying before 17th. But like you i also have one reserved at the Apple store but im not taking any chances. As soon as tracking comes available i will cancel the Apple store one.

people seem to say that people try and queue but scalpers just jump the queue and run ahead to the shop, so its a free for all, ill take my chances with it

So, say they do that, couldn't I just return it in person and they could charge me again using the iPhone upgrade program?
Seems that you can still pre-order right now, for delivery for end of September, for iPhone 7 in Black:

Jet Black is a longer wait:

As is the iPhone 7 Plus, in Black:

Jet Black is totally out of stock:

Anyone ordered the Jet black? I have but am a bit worried about finger marks. It seems like a magnet for them.

I have and I don't care.

Good job on your preorders guys. I'll be playing the apple store reserve and collect game instead. Iirc their website stock updates at 3:30am for in store collections, but been a couple years since using doing this so hopefully I remember correctly.
I'm in the same boat, wait for my reservations to come in then take do the upgrade programme in store. Apple site says check back at 6am from the 17th

Don't fancy a 3am daily check
