I've found the best time to get one online is at 10pm! Buy it outright for pickup then change it over to IUP if that is what you want. I managed to hold out and picked up a Jet Black 7 Plus 128GB from Belfast yesterday after ordering at 10pm on Saturday night. Paid via PayPal and there was absolutely no bother changing it over to IUP in store and the refund was even in place for my order before the payment had come out of my card so PayPal cancelled the transaction.

Overall, a brilliant experience and very helpful staff at Apple, Victoria Square in Belfast

Judging by that dented box I see the carriers are still up to their usual "ship it in a plastic bag and hope for the best" trick.

Such actions just sum the bunch of jokers up.

I wish Apple bought EE's network and started their own carrier.

One can dream... :p

The guys name was Jamie and he was really very helpful
Thanks .. will sound them out tomorrow.. I think it's their discretion in applying iUP to delivered phones so I'll practice my best smile

That shouldn't happen to the box... mine shipped like this so should prevent dings!!!

As for EE, unlikely given the recent BT acquisition

That's how they arrive from Apple (who, you know, give a damn) but the carriers just tend to dump the retail box in a plastic bag with no protection. They all do it.

I'm intrigued. Which link do you go through? I always go through iup link late and it's closed until 6am.

Buy outright.. either web or app. IIRC pick any old phone and choose your preferred store, then delete the item which should "pre fill" your local store and show whether they are actually carrying stock. See earlier posts (a page back) for links to Pushbullet and how to use that to help find story carrying color and config you want.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has been with me on my journey from China to the UK - all my phones are here now 1 from UPS and 2 from DHL - its been one hell of a long wait but its over - i want to wish everyone the very best in enjoying their new goodies - till next year !! Cheers

Thanks mate, I'll give it a go.

Couldn't get that script working though unfortunately.

For anyone still looking for notifications of stock, or anyone who I'm running the script for currently, follow these steps to setup stock notifications.

Install Telegram from the AppStore, set a username in the settings of Telegram, then compose a message to iphonestockbot

Type /start then /register
Then /stores and /models to find the stores and model codes you want to be notified of stock at.

/addmodel modelcode
/addstore storecode

To see what's on your watchlist do /watchlist and it will tell you.

When you have got your reservation and don't want notifications anymore just do

/removestore storecode
OR
/removemodel modelcode

For all the stores/models in your watchlist. I might add a /stop command that does that for you.

Ugh, still waiting on a Jet Black 256 GB Plus ordered with O2 on the 11th here. Not heard a peep out of them either but they happily took my £180 up front fee...... getting miffed now, and I know it's not O2s fault but more down to Apple making a colour so hard to reliably manufacture.

Thanks for this. Does this add anything over the Python script you wrote? (which is working well for me so thanks for that).

I just haven't had much joy when I do get a stock alert from Pushbullet. I go into the iPhone Upgrade reservation page and do all that requesting codes malarky and by the time I've entered the code and given my iTunes ID, they've sold out.

I'm intrigued by this too. It won't let me choose my preferred store unless I find a model that's in stock there. I know that I can find that out by using the script posted earlier, so what benefit does buying it outright have over going through the iPhone Upgrade Program page? Thanks.

As I said, it just simplifies things. if, like me, there's only one store option (Belfast), I'm never gonna pick from a hatful of stores I can journey to. Not essential to pick tho'

Why use it? Well not all stock as I understand it is released to iUP, and you can, at the discretion of the store swap out a direct purchase to the iUP should you wish (and vice versa). Reservations only work through part of the day too.. albeit the stock availability doesn't really arrive to store outside of those hours... different strokes for different folks!

No reason if is working for you. This is for people who can't leave their computer running script on all day and night, or those having problems getting it running. As for the registration code stuff, is that text message code from Apple to verify the reservation? If so never had that on mine, perhaps create an apple account and link your phone to it and hopefully won't ask for verification when you login next time to place a reservation.

Cheers, that will save me keeping the laptop on overnight then.

Yeh what happens when I go in and select the model, it asks me to sign into my Apple account then gives me a code to text to 81088 then a code comes back which is what you have to type in to get to the time slots. Then I pick a time slot and by the time I've done all that, someone has obviously beaten me to it. It's a rubbish system. It should hold the model for you to at least give you time to fill in your details. This is at 6 in the morning too when I'm half asleep lol

The code is the two factor authentication, which makes your account more secure but might stop you getting a reservation as it slows you down :( You'll only get it if you've enabled two factor authentication on your Apple ID. When I picked up my reservation they never even asked to see my reservation, I just gave my name and they found me on their list on the iPad.
