My kind of thread! I can't wait for the 7!!! The feature(s) I'd like to see....

OLDED display

Reduced bezels (or the rumor of no home button and reduced bezels)

More than 2 gigs or RAM, but I'd still be happy if they kept it at 2

Over 2 gHz CPU and has better efficiency (10nm?) and better GPU

Water proof would be awesome, but VERY unlikely.

The two biggest things most people interact with in life is technology and water, we are made of up to sixty percent water and the planet is covered in more than seventy percent of it yet we can't get a single drop on our technology... It's flat out shocking! The companies that address this problem are truly innovative and understand the progressions technology needs to make to be a full part of life and the earth in which we live!

The second problem is battery power! Give me a phone, tablet, laptop or any other portable piece of technology that lasts more than a day (if we're lucky) before it needs tethering back to a power source over a faster chip and thinner profile any day of the week. Every part of tech has seen evolution in tremendous ways, other than the very batteries that power them!

It's time to shift priorities and sort out these two major problems that are holding technology back! Go back to thinner lighter faster after this is achieved.

No one ever mentions reducing price. Not talking about reducing content, more innovations but perhaps Apple takes a hit for the consumer. I know anti capitalistic, board and stock holders will hate me. But maybe offering the best phone for lower price might boost sales even more, and make more overall profit? Just a thought.

I suppose you could link that in to the base storage option. They've dragged out the 16gb for too long now imo, and so I'd like to think it'll be gone with the iPhone 7 for sure. And if that means 32gb becomes the base option, that in turn will increase value for money.

I'm a very happy owner of an 6 (my first iPhone) and If it lasts enough I will wait until the 8G. The 7g will be an evolution of the 6, maybe thinner and lighter but in essence the same (like the 5 was over the 4; yes, bigger screen but not very different design at all). The big changes will arrive with the 8G, it's my bet.

Apple used to surprise us. We used to be wowed every few years in an amazing way. Tweaking the specs for camera, resolution, screen size, ect. is not surprising. What would Apple add to iPhone 7 that actually makes us say WOW!

My ideas are:
  1. eInk display on the back of the phone.
  2. No headphone port and free Bluetooth headphones.
  3. Waterproof
  4. Shock resistant
  5. Projector
  6. Affordable smart house devices to pair with phone.
  7. Wireless charging
  8. Touch screen responds to hovering over
Let me know your ideas of REAL surprises.
Those are great additions, they will likely spread those out over the next 20 years at an average of one every 2 years and they'll also
Come up with an apple tag phrase for each one like Apple charge for wireless charging

Same ram, same/similar screen sizes, both higher res, Plus won't be scaled, different chassis* meaning smaller form factor, marginally improved camera, marginally faster CPU, much faster GPU, smaller battery, "same" battery life, possibly USB-C.

That's it.

The only thing I wouldn't bet money on is USB-C.

*The single main differentiator that will lead to sales.

To whoever thinks waterproof isn't coming (in the next rev or two), there's already patents filed for that.

I really wanted to see a space black DLC coated phone myself - more durable so I'm not taking this gorgeous device and covering it with something to make it thicker and less beautiful.

+1 for removing the ports (both SIM as well as headphones). SIM card emulation should be here by now - long overdue.

With the ports gone and touchID integrated into the screen, you could have the surface almost completely smooth (still need some interfaces for mic and speakers - but they could be close to flush membranes).

And make the curved top out of the glass - making the seam virtually invisible - the only button (on/off/forced reboot) could be a force touch on the top edge. Ditto for the volume controls.

Me, I'd like to see someone develop the technology so the screen and the case are the same colour when powered off (nicer aesthetics).

Also wondering whatever happened to flexible screens and system boards...keep hoping the presenter says "Oh, and one more thing", then snaps the iPhone to their wrist like one of those snap-on bracelets. :)

I think it's pretty clear that with the introduction of 3D Touch the home button is on its way out. Apparantly you can get back to the home screen with a "Force Touch" on the 6S and 6S+ so what good is the home button now?

So my prediction is that the iPhone 7 redesign will lose the home button and make the footprint of the devices MUCh smaller. Can't wait. Flame away.

And simultaneously kill the Apple Watch? Not a chance :p

I'm just hoping for water proofing, much improved battery, and a better screen (along with the standard processor/GPU/camera bumps). Give me those and I'm happy!

Kill the secondary device (which hasn't yet taken off as much as they hoped, sure - it provides a framework for a bunch of apps for the iPhone when in watch mode. :) Obviously, we have many, many engineering challenges before we get there....need to be flexible, yet immune to scratches or shattering being a biggie.

I posted on here a couple years ago about this. Back then I was predicting that Apple will eventually ditch the hardware home button and just incorporate the home button and Touch ID into the screen. Now we see the home button in the screen is happening with 3D Touch. I'm sure the iPhone 7 will have a Touch ID sensor built into the screen.
