If I were shopping for a new phone, I might consider a 7 Plus, just for that incredible camera. But my preference is for smaller phones, so i'm hoping next year's model gets the dual camera in the regular old non-plus model.

I suspect the superior camera is what is driving the dominance of 7 Plus sales.

I've had both phones. Yeah, no tangible difference but you've convinced yourself there is. 750p on a 4.7 inch display is more than enough. I have a plus now for battery life. Display resolution is irrelevant.

You wanna talk about VR, fine. But Apple ain't there yet, so yeah, in my mind, your opinion is pretty absurd. Buy what you want, but a blanket opinion passed off as fact? Nah, that doesn't fly.

Hold on correct me if I am wrong iPad Mini has a higher dpi versus the iPad Air 2. Apple says you hold the smaller iPad closer so the higher dpi is better compared to iPad Air 2.

iPhone + has a higher dpi compared to the regular iPhone. Let use Apples logic with the iPad, should the regular iPhone not have a higher resolution since it's closer compared to the iPhone + version.

Either that or the iPad logic is twisted. In any case Apple has befuddled you in they marketing. Lol :D

Sadly Apple wasn't able to afford to research the market, conduct focus groups, or poll customers beforehand to get an idea of demand.

A fledgling company struggling to make a profit, one day Apple hopes to be able to afford those kinds of preparations.

So they just guessed at how many of each model to build.
Haha, hopefully one day they'll have the resources to do that sort of thing.

4K displays in a phone are overkill. 1080p is fine IMO.

16GB and now 32GB is underkill in a phone that takes out 4K stills and video at 30fps and viewing it on a 759p-1080p iPhone screen or sending it via AirPlay to a 1080p capable AppleTV 4 displayed on a 1080p TV then iCloud with limited storage to a MBP with no true 4K display or sit at your desk with a 5K iMac. This is madness, lol.

I, assuming your kidding that there's only one new feature on the 7

Eh, there was only one new feature in 7: Dual camera and that's on + model.

If iPhone 8 has dual camera ppl switch back to smaller screens.

Or you could pay the $36 for 150GB of iCloud storage and get the plus. Sucks for youn

if they would have started at 64gb... i would have given apple $100 more for the plus. apple has a plan here to force users to buy the 128gb but their greed is going to come back to bite them. they could make more money off of me since i can only afford one upgrade: storage size or screen size and camera and i have to choose storage size. greedy apple lol sucks for them.
[doublepost=1473995269][/doublepost]in case someone misunderstood... the extra storage is maybe $10 more for apple while the camera parts are much more expensive.

The fact that the iPhone has been the top selling phone in the world for 8 years running proves that the cost is justified.

If the iPhone 7 was thicker where the camera is flush to the rear and battery life increased even more that would be a trade-off, how? The last few generations of iPhones have been light enough, if there was added weight for a greater increase in battery life customers would not complain. Compromise right. Apple has never been shy to increase the thickness of its products, i.e. AW2, iPad 3, etc. Adding a WCG display is sure to consume additional battery life. Once Apple introduces a higher dpi/resolution display in the same thin package with the same battery life or better, your argument will then be advancement in technology. Do not fall for the marketing BS. Granted Apple makes decent phones, however the premium cost cannot be justified, people see it as a fashion accessory or is that another event to release new watch bands.

I completely 100% disagree with you. In my opinion, the difference is clearly noticeable. My iPhone 6S Plus is much sharper and also displays much more info on the screen. Likewise the Galaxy 7 series is sharper than both iPhones.

Just because you can't see it (or don't want to see it) doesn't make it true. Apple relies on customers like you and obviously it is working because they display they are using on the 7 is class-leading if we were in 2010. Problem is that we are in 2016.

Black 128 plus is exactly what I got. Can't go wrong with the added memory and dual camera.

Delivery date is expected to ship October 5th

Apple needs to get onboard with more supply every time it launches a new phone. If they want you to upgrade every year they shouldn't ask you to spend 2 of those 12 months waiting on it to arrive. It's not a surprise that people want their iPhones.
Or maybe some king of early adopter program.

I love my iPhone and have a 7 Plus and Ceramic and Hermes watch delivering tom but Apple used to lead on technology. Now they innovate based on a colors and the Apple fan boys eat it up. So sad to be honest.
Sad? Yet you dropped at least 3 grand for all your toys... hmmm?

Resolution is a huge difference. OLED is also incredible. My LG65" 2016 4K Curved OLED literally puts my 4K projector to shame with true blacks. If you cannot tell the difference between 750p, 1080p, and 4K well that's a good thing for your wallet at a minimum . Personally I'd have my eyes examined but different strokes for different folks.

750p? For such a pretentious person, you don't even have your facts straight. It's 720p, genius.

Oh no! I picked the matte black 128. I better cancel my pickup for tomorrow before I get accused of being a sheep!

But in all seriousness, I am very surprised that yellow gold is outselling the white model.
I wasn't aware there is a white model. Which is it?

But I agree. Just like last year with all the men trying to justify why they wanted pink when all it really was about was wanting something new.

Although with no space grey now, I think a lot of men will defer to the matte black.
Trying something different is not a bad thing. Were I to get an iPhone 7 though, I'd be going Black (likely not Jet Black) specifically because those are the only two choices with a black front. I'd be much more likely to go with one of the other body colors, on a whim, if they didn't all surround the screen with white. I don't like the black/white contrast, I like the screen fading into the front glass when it's off. I've convinced myself in the past that I prefer the look as well when it's on (screen emerging out of black vs. white), though I don't know if that's actually true.

My wife and I are the only people I know with iphones. Pretty much all android and a fre windows phones. Wouldn't that mean hardly anyone owns iphones?

Nope because we know 100s millions do - my sample is of a small subset of those who are not early adopters. The sample quoted in the article are early adopters who are likely to exhibit different behaviour - evidenced by many of the comments on this article. I do not claim that the sample I discussed are representative of all users, just used them to illustrate an alternative sample.

You make my point though, to be beware of extrapolating behaviour across all sales of iphone7 from a small sample of atypical users. Neither my sample, your's or the sample reported here are statistically robust.

Right. You keep telling yourself that haha. The difference is crystal clear even without my glasses...

You're mistaking vibrancy with pixel density. OLED screens are more vibrant, which makes them look "better," but Apple actually improved their displays in that regard this year as well. Pixel density at the levels Android has gone to really only matter for VR because it magnifies the screen.
