So after I thought tightening the pentalobe screws would do the trick, the clicking eventually came back. It got so annoying I took it to Apple and they said it's caused by the screen not being seated properly on the frame. So they said they will re-seal it or whatever and it'll take 2 hours. Got the phone back and clicking was gone. Unfortunately, my 3D Touch didn't work anymore after the fix. Went back again and they ended up giving me a new phone. Now the new one does not have any clicking at all.

Crossing my fingers...

Awesome! I'm glad you mentioned this because I will definitely make sure they don't try to pull the whole "re-sealing" thing on me. I'm still under warranty and I'll definitely show them your reply so that I can just get the new phone.

My first iPhone 7+ started making a clicking (CRACKING) noise when grabbed by the left bottom corner.
I replaced it and now the second phone makes this noise when grabbed by the right side, but near to the home button.

I reckon this is to do with the Haptic Engine and its metal cover.... I'm tempted to have a look.. I can't stand it. I don't want to replace as I'd like to keep my JB.

I just noticed mine same thing. Tiny Click sound i hear when i gently twisting it. I hear it closely it seems the click sound was coming from the back corner near the dual camera area. Not really a big deal for me thou. But i do feel a little bit annoying especially with device at this price (mine is ip7+256gb black matte). So i grab my sony z5premium and did the same thing. The construction of z5p feels more premium. But apparently, with a slightly harder of doing it (twisting), it also creates the same noise and the noise also coming from the same spot area. The back corner camera. The iphone 7p camera is larger/longer (dual camera) so maybe this maybe the cause is more easy to make click noise?

I don't think I've had to twist my 7 Plus once since I've owned it. Is this a gesture-based operation? :)

Does this "click" sound get picked up when shooting video?

I am sorry. I was wrong describing word. Actually not clicking. Is more like anybody said here creaking like some part loose. When shooting video or anything else..my phone is running normal. No creaking noise whatsoever. Noise is happening only in certain position we hold the phone or in my case, i usually hear it when i changed my case.

All we meant is not like really twisting the phone. We know that is an unnecessary thing to do. But to easily notice this problem, we need to be in the position like about to twist the phone and do it with a very soft push each two corner in oposite direction just like in the youtube video. As i said, i can live with it. Its not bothering me on my my daily use. But i just feel not good of knowing that this creaking gate is actually true.

I guess what I mean is, if the phone is physically clicking or creaking, would that noise also be picked up by the microphone when shooting video? Especially since one must hold the phone awkwardly at times.

I havent experienced creaking noise during shooting video. But i seldom do the video using my phone. But i can hear that creaking one or two when playing game in landscape mode.

So I had my case off to clean it, and noticed that my touches on the screen (3D force level of pressure) are worse when the case was off - mostly lower part of the screen - very tiny clicks.

My 6s never had this, nor my 7 non plus. Most 5's and 6's however did. Ugh wish they'd get this resolved! Like others not gonna do the roulette since everything else is great! Even considered selling it and buying another 7 non plus but it'd end up costing me like 250 bucks, what with TMO's down pmt, new case and new screen protector.

I have my pentalobe on order.

Well, the tightening of the screws fixed it for me

I can hear the cracking noise at the top of the phone even though it's coming from the bottom so surely it will be heard on the video - IF you make the cracking click during the recording. Just imagine old Nokia plastic phones. It probably won't be that loud so you would only notice it in quiet environments.

Okay, so I just purchased a 7 Plus JB with a week 47 (late November) 2016 build date. It has the "click" that people here are posting about. The phone has no other "issues" that I can see. Trying to decide if I should just live with it or return it.

Does anyone know if more recent builds still have this issue? Or is it just inherent with the design of this phone?

Damn you Apple.

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem that I'm having. I have a 7 plus in black and everything about is perfect except whenever the phone is put under any amount of flex (from lifting it up or just holding it with two hands) the phone makes a slight creaking sound that sounds like something is loose (not a bending sound). The smallest amount of flex from everyday use causes the left side to make that sound which is quite audible. Another example is when I'm holding it with two hands, and press the top left and bottom right portions of the screen at the same time, it makes a slight click. Again, I'm not bending it or trying to bend it in any way. It's really annoying... I would love to exchange it for another one, but all of the apples stores within a 50 miles radius of me are completely out of stock.
[doublepost=1489615696][/doublepost]I HAVE THAT ISSUE AND I HAVE AN IPHONE 7 PLUS(256gb silver)!!!!! IT IS REALLY ANNOYING!!!!! WHEN I FIRST NOTICED I THOUGHT I HAD CRACKED THE SCREEN ON MY PHONE!!! (because I have a blue screen protector on(not see-thru bezel)) Is it a way to fix it or do I have to buy a new 7P? (Costs 10 995 NOK= About 1 280 US dollars (NOK=currency in my country) Or is it warranty or so?

Mine does that clicking noise when removing the phone from the apple silicone case. It also gets my beard hairs pulled when I make a call. This worries me because of the ip67 rating. I dont go swimming or showering with but sometimes I get caught in slight rain during jogs. Mine is in immaculate condition and dont really want to swap it if its a normal thing.

Wound up having to return the 7 Plus I ordered not too long ago for this reason. It was cracking and creaking and snapping with the slightest everyday pressure when touching the top and bottom bezels together in landscape mode, and also when pressing near the home button on the bottom. The rest of the phone was perfect, which makes it even more disappointing. Can't believe this common design flaw made it past the engineers. And no, I was not willing to tighten or loosen the screws on the bottom because a) it's a temporary or incomplete fix, and b) I shouldn't have to do that on a brand new $800 + phone.

I have the same problem took it back to the Apple Store and they replaced the screen. Problem solved for now.

Anyone else noticed that if you tap your iPhone's at the top right part on the back of the phone it makes strange noise.

Before you jump into conclusions this is normal because of the OIS camera and the moving lenses, I want to say that I own the LG G2 which also has OIS camera and there is nothing like this.

Could you please confirm if anyone else experience this and if I should check with Apple about this?

Any advise, thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I just got a 7 Plus several days ago and I noticed some of the creaking. So is the tightening the screws the final solution basically?

Yeah, have my iphone 7 plus since january and only now I noticed this issue.

What are the exact steps to fix it? Just tighten the screws? Just loose the screws? or maybe should I loose them, push the screen down against the body as hard as I can and THEN tighten them back?

For those who have stated earlier that loosening or tightening their screws worked for them, how has it held up over time now that it's been a while? I know some stated earlier the click returned, but some were adamant that theirs did not- so that's who I'd like to hear from. Was it a permanent fix to mess with the screws?

I ask because my new 7 plus' bottom right corner clicks a bit when pressed after I have it in my pocket during the day. Sometimes it resolves itself until the next day and other times not. The phone is perfect otherwise (took many tries to get a perfect screen), so I'm keeping it since it seems like a widespread issue despite my previous post, but I don't want to attempt the screw fix unless it's been a long term solution.

Mine has not made noises since I did the screws.
